BREAK TIME!! Sitting down with tall glass of ice water.

In the past, we have tried the pegs to hang cowboy hats on but they never worked for us. The brims of the hats usually hit the next peg which would hold it away from the wall and peg trying to hang it on. Individual pegs don't work because the crown of the hats are sloped and they continually slide/fall off a peg. The only success I've had with cowboy hats is to hang them inverted on a U shaped hanger. We have 3 of them for DH cowboy hats but I am hesitating on investing so much to hang all of LO's. hats. Not only is there the question......Will he still like hats as he matures???? As well as the elephant in the room..... what will the court rule and how long he will be with us......

LO room is almost gutted. The following furniture is out of his room now....
** Two beds. Bedding is in the washer and comfortors are hanging outside
** two bookcases
** two drum sets
** piano keyboard & stand
** pictures/mirror/bulletin board off the walls
** Toys! The deal was....LO can keep any toys he wants to carry into the living room. After about 70 trips back and forth he started becoming very selective on which toys he would keep & carry. The remaining toys not worth his effort of carrying have been put into GW bags to share with "boys who need toys". Two bags full!!!
** About hundred books. I went through them and pulled out a couple, but the rest of them are classics that I read to young ones over and over.

Left to do....
** one more bookcase.
** window treatment. The window blinds were on the windows when we moved in 18 years ago. They have been washed multiple times over the years, and are still in good shape. Hum....I would like to replace them but not sure it will make it high enough on the priority list this time. I definitely want to paint the wall so that will probably trump the windows treatment replacement. We shall see how much i can get done the next couple of days......

Bernice, good job on the shed and best wishes for the gut/paint/reorganize project for the twins' room. Sounds like your household is feeling better?

OKay, our windows in the living/dining are "dressed" in a long-time favorite type look and I keep on the lookout for something similar. Like you mention, when they get higher on the priority list I know I'll make a change, but right now other things take precedence. Best wishes on your "gutting" work, too!

Was amused yesterday that Sunny pleaded "guilty" to sleeping in. Shouldn't that be vaunted, showed off, announced, bragged... ... Anyway, I commend you on your excellent planning and foresight.

I grocery shopped and made a pickup at pharmacy 1.

dd is sketching and photographing our vacuum cleaner for the last of her engineering class homework. The teacher had complimented her classwork sketches so she wants to keep doing well.

WTG OK and LO!! Decluttering feels so good.

I'm off now to pick up ds to take him shopping for a MW for his dorm room. His roommate didn't want to come. I spent some time this afternoon trying to figure out if one brand was better than another for small MWs. I didn't find much, but since it is going to be put in the hands of 2 18yo boys, I'm not sure it matters that much. .. As long as they don't hurt themselves or the dorm property. . . .

Peeking in from dh computer ...

It has been a week since I have been online (& I survived !). I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. It turned out to be a good week for my little experiment because I was out of the house so much last week. During the day, when I was at home, I did a lot of cleaning, & also worked on various things that had been left undone for a while that had been bugging me. Most evenings, with not much on tv that I was interested in, I caught up on a lot of reading.

I did miss reading news coverage online, as the convention & hurricane were the main topics on all the tv news stations, even local ones. You all popped into my head from time to time, as did thoughts of our dIndi. And instead of tea & SHE, I drank my tea while journaling. Surprisingly, I didn't get to any decluttering projects, choosing reading every time. There are 3 things left on the long "to do" list I started on the first day without my laptop, & when those are done then I will begin working on decluttering & organizing the linen closet. Being caught up on so many things feels really good. I will continue to limit my computer time, probably to once every 2 or 3 days. I almost gave in a few times early on but am glad I stuck it out for the full week.

I'm off to browse through the village & then have some lunch. Waving ~~~~~ to everyone, & hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Hello Dear Ladies,

Welcome scattered!

HOT Day here with temps back up in the triple digits again.

DH and two Dsons are making a small pond near the front porch. We have a large pond near the front of our property and he's using a lot of the abundance from that to make this smaller one. Thinks it will be pleasant for us to see as we sit on the porch.

I've been practicing smiling a lot these past few days. I had a lady who was sitting on the bench in the fitting room waiting for a relative to come out of the dressing room. Her mouth was so turned down, and she wore bright red lipstick which only accented it more, she looked permanently sad. A glance in the mirror showed me that my mouth was heading in the same direction so I'm making myself smile at least 10 times a day. Smile whenever someone comes to talk to me. Smile every time I pass a mirror. Think of happy things and smile. Who knows maybe it will brighten up someone's day as I smile.

Working on laundry today. Got the dishwasher to unload and load again.

With one phone call the extra drum set is gone. One of LO drum sets has been given to DNeice1 year old who loves to play them here when she visits. I wondered if her parents would want the drum set in their home, but they were thrilled to receive it. It is one thing to watch you child play drums at someone elses home.....but an entirely nuther thing to bring a set of LOUD drums into your own home.

LO room empty out phase is done and the restore has begun......I put a coat of Kilz paint on the cornice boards. They will need an extra coat to cover the previous color of paint (green). I'm not going to attempt to paint anything else while LO is home today. I'll spend the rest of the day getting ready to paint - removing electrical covers, taping off wood work, etc. and hopefully be ready to hit it hard in the morning after dropping LO off at school.

I'm up from my nap. Was down 2.5 hours but only slept for 30. Took a long time to fall asleep. After almost an hour, I was ready to get up, probably inspired by OKay, and go down and begin deep cleaning of my 'creative room'. But common sense prevailed and I made myself stay in bed, eventually falling asleep.

I'm going to watch a movie now and try to work on computer record keeping at the same time. Not sure it will work, in which case, the movie will win.

Had a nice lunch with the girls, went to Target and found a nice bookshelf that should work perfectly for thier games.
The girls are outside playing, Dh and I are getting ready to move the twins beds out of thier room, only one bed will be returning, and it will be going into 8's room and her Bunk bed(with storage drawers and a pull out trundle case) will be going in the twins room,this switch should have been done ages ago, but hey I am a procrastinator The twins will be bunking with 8 till we get thier room back together.

Harriet..Thank Goodness we are all healthy, 7-1 was the only one to come down with the strep, hope it stays that way.
Okay..Wow you really are doing great on LO's room, I hope I am that good tackling the twins and 8's bedrooms.

My get up and go just got up and went. I'm petering out. I had a hungry afternoon, which wasn't helpful. I did get ds out to buy a MW. At Home D., there was no brand choice in the size ds wanted (as small as possible) so my earlier research was for naught. After we shopped, Ds wanted to stop by our house for something else he had forgotten, and then I drove him back to the dorm and helped him carry in. If he had gone to Univ. out of town, I think he would have packed with a little more care. Maybe. . . .

I have sent an email to a woman suggested as a possible child care helper for the meeting on Friday.

Dh went to work this afternoon, more meetings, students working toward a deadline next week. The girls went to a friend's house, the same friend for whom I wrote a letter this morning.

I might tiptoe off and indulge in a short n-a-p. I should make a quick groc. run, but if I don't, it's not the end of the world. S and R will be here for dinner again tonight, around 6:30.

Watched Larry Crowne and enjoyed it but didn't get much computer work done because it was compelling enough to demand my attention.

I have to write a newsletter contribution and letter before the end of the day today.

Dh is solving my dinner timing issues by staying out for dinner with ds (they are at a movie right now) and then coming home, picking up his guitar and music and heading to choir practice. I'll skip choir for the next couple of weeks until I know my strength is returning.
