Finally Friday

Post by Lynlee »

Its a sultry spring dusk here as I write. The "dry" has been unleashed. The cicadas are in full voice.
And the kookaburras drown them out for a bit.

re lists - I can do a number on myself with too long a list.
My favourite list is a few things written on the back of an envelop.
What I've compiled pages of is a game where just one part is daily things like opening curtains, eating, drinking water, putting dog out and in and out and in, etc etc etc. The rest has some restickable tags and tabs - and a throw of a dice will tell me where to is next. Just need make an effort. There is no criteria for it getting finished, or spending 15 minutes there. Working under the assumption that every bit helps. I'm more likely to repeat and continue, or throw the dice again if it doesn't seem like too big a deal.
Wanting to set up the daily bit of outdoors and indoor effort.
So Harriet - think of it as a game I could play at my house and yard rather than an intimadating list.

I admit - I have not looked at my book today. Or written up some pages for other rooms - headings like each each drawer, space, or the much maligned "box" that really does intimadate me. A box of deal with this later is especially avoided by me.

last night
Stayed up too late. Little sleep again. and a dog wanta go outside awakening this morning.
some tadas
dog out
tmeds
dog untangled
filter water
dog in
eventually - I cooked cereal and vegies , ate
dressed
appointment
bill pay at bank ( I don't trust myself with numbers, nor the internet for money stuff)
looked in 2 shops
grocery store.
home
dog out
cold goods away
next is
walk dog - I need foot wear.
then dinner prep
and hopefully dishes
shower, hair wash and teeth brushed
and bed before the birds are singing in the day.
Just begin.

LynLee - well done! Sweet Dreams

Good Morning to those on this side of the world! :)

Yesterday plans didn't happen. Instead the day was filled with family needs. Multiple & long phone calls from DMom and DDIL, hours of txt'ing with DGS15 over a drama that only a teenager could develop , wonderful treasured visit with DDad and ending the day with taking LO to swim lessons. In between I did manage to clean up the rooms that have had their week long cleanse. I'm fighting hard to not lose ground that has been fought for! Dust motes, clutter and dust bunnies....beware! I'm determined to not be ambushed by you!!

Today is our last (hopefully) triple digit heat day of the year! They are predicting a cold front to come through and drop the temps 20 degrees tomorrow! Although I've become somewhat accustom to working for hours in 100+ temps, there is no denying that it is a huge energy drain to do so. I am soooooooooo looking forward to enjoying a few weeks of 80's & 90's temperatures. My little corner of the world is still in the worst drought classification but at least the thermometer will be dropping even if the rain isn't. :D

Tonight is FNG in our home. Need to do a little prep for it.

I'm awake. Slept 6 solid hours and then another 90 minutes of dozing with dh before I had to get up for the bathroom. I'm doing my internet surfing now before getting out of bed.

It is not a shower day so I feel like I'll have a more productive morning. Avoiding the computer will help with that!

Day is dawning very slowly today. Very foggy so it seemed earlier than it was. DH went golfing with neighbor at 6:30. Wonder how they could even see the ball, let alone drive to the golf course.

I'm sipping a cup of java trying to get alert enough to start my day. Meds & breakfast are all I've done. At least blood sugar was down to a very acceptable level this morning (96). But I had to really struggle to keep it that low. I'm almost afraid of this weekend's menus. (Of course I was in charge of that, while trying to think of things that would stretch.) Tonight -Winter Beef Stew (always think of dIndiana when I make this), tomorrow -spaghetti (am using d ream f ields pasta to lower the glycemic index), and Sunday we have a picnic with pulled pork, baked beans, chips at DS-A's. Expect our company will arrive sometime later this morning or early afternoon. Suspect they spent a night in Ithaca last night so won't take them long to get here. I'm a bit surprised dsisil hasn't called on their way up. (Her eay of "surprise" I guess.)

Talked to DD in FL last night. Bit concerned for her as she said she was on her way to job #3! What??? Seems she's taken an after school care 2 days a week and is tutoring 4 days a week plus her many-houred teaching job! (way over 40!!) Evidently dsonil hasn't been back to work since he stopped working for medical leave June 4th. Did not know this! She says he's using all his medical time because he senses his job will be 'gone' once he returns. :|

Oh my! 9 o'clock and I'm not even dressed. Had to take a benadryl to fall asleep last night and now I can barely get moving.

Hrrmmmppphhh! Lost a post again. Discovered that once again my built in cursor is 'on'. Have no idea how that happened. turned it off the other day and now it 'magically' appears.

Probably a good thing dbil/dsil are due in today. I need to keep busy. It's 'birthing day' for me (for dShelley) and busy will be a good thing amidst the 'moments'.

7 x 12
1. First I need to get s2s and BUSY!
2. Get beef stew going in the crock pot3. Clean the bathroom
4. Clean off my table/desk (not too bad, just needs a little tweaking)
5. Re-straighten fridge -especially after grocery put away from yesterday
6. Sweep through
7. Type up Church Council minutes for Monday's meeting ( how DOES a month roll around so fast?)
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

I got about 7.5 hrs of sleep and then dozed for another hour in the bed. It is pea soup outside so glad I don't have to go in this morning. DS13 got off to school and DS19 is up having his coffee with his computer as we speak, he has to work at 11am.

Gonna get started on this essay that I have been ruminating about for the last few days. First I need to look at the requirements for the essay.

To Do List
more coffee
Look at rubric for essay
write essay
d2s
work

I'll check back soon.

Lynlee, as soon as I saw yesterday that you were playing with dice as a game, I was already relieved :) and ready to tease you - I almost said something about chore bingo, actually, but the dice sounded fun. You know I will always jump in to defend you from any truly intimidating multi-page list of chores! I caught on that you were figuring out a way to approach it with fun, and I know that even though you face a lot of work on the house, you have the "tools" to divide and conquer well! (LOL - tools for handling our chores are not always found in a toolbox, are they? ) Too bad I can't pop over, roll the dice and pitch in to defeat one line!

Overcast and dreary outside here. Dreaded phone calls are up.

Ivy, it's so nice to meet you.

scattered, how is the situation with your son's glasses?

Good morning, villagers ~
Mostly at home day today  to prep for the weekend.

At Friends of the Tiny Town Library meeting last night I was elected treasurer. I've been looking through the "bag o' stuff" I was handed from the previous Treasurer. I did a virus scan of the usb flash drive, and copied all of the files to my desktop computer this morning. Simple bookkeeping system. Once I get up to speed, it doesn't look like it will eat up a whole lot of time each week.

Can't really do much of anything until next week because we need to make an appointment at the bank to transfer signatures, etc. In the meantime, I'll be thinking about upgrading the filing system because the tote bag is overstuffed and inconvenient.

Other than dailies and a few weekly tasks, main focus the rest of today will be:

1) declutter things that can be burned
We got some rain last night (hooray!) and the temps have dropped enough that I'm assuming DH will have a fire in the back yard chiminea tonight. We have a bunch of stuff that accumulated while we were banned from burning anything. I'm more than ready to get it out of the house.

2) gather fabric & other supplies for charity sewing
I have some bags and aprons for preschool kids already cut and ready to sew. Other fabrics in different bags. Thread and Velcro in other bags. Just need to assess what is here and get it lined up to be ready for the machine.

After they are organized, these projects can be worked on a few minutes at a time. They don't need the continuity of a block of time. No real deadline on them, so it's too easy to set them aside for "later." With my current goal of sewing at least 15 minutes every day, I should be able to blast through several by the end of National Sewing Month.

Alrighty then, I'm off to wash dishes.
