I remember that song, too. I think Kookaburra was sitting in a gum tree...That was always a popular song in elementary school talent shows when I was growing up!

Harmony, why didn't I think of that? After googling it (kookaburra) I found the lyrics and I think I have a link to the tune, though I remember that anyway. And I had the wrong tree. It's GUM tree.

Laugh Kookaburra, Laugh Kookaburra Merry merry king of the bush is he!

I remember it well.

I no longer have green sparkly toes. They are now a nice conservative beige. That is the only thing conservative about this die hard old liberal, however. I know - no politics. Sorry!

Had a good afternoon out with DD. DH washed clothes while we were gone. They are going out to a concert at the U so we headed for fast food and came home. Now I have to remake the bed as I only carry one set of bedding with us during the summer.

It is chilly here, too. It is going to be wonderful sleeping tonight, cool weather, clean sheets, clean nightie. YUM!! Can't wait to go to bed.

It has been a horrible afternoon...

I was informed at work that due to budget constraints and restructuring of the management team my position no longer exists. As of the 17th I will once again be a floor nurse. On the bright side (if there is one) my boss and the rest of the management team really love me and are fighting to keep me at the hospital. This means that my boss is actively fighting for my salary not to change, it's only $1.00 a hour difference, but to a single mother like me that is big. I am the newest member of the management team so as we all know last one in first one out. My boss even wants to keep me helping the management team through working on the forms and such. I am really good with the computer and she wishes there was an Informatics position/department that she could put me into.

My DP... well I guess not anymore, is taking the boys and I out to ice cream at Sweet Frog, we have never been so I said yes. Otherwise I would just be at home mopping.

SuzLew, it is so great to see your posts - there is a Holiday Planning thread for 2012 in the Creative Home forum.

scattered, so sorry you had difficult news today.

Elizabeth, I hope the dr will figure this out and maybe she will just need longer to heal. As I recall, dd32's fingers hurt when she wiggled them while she was in the cast and maybe longer (double break of the two arm bones just "above" the wrist).

I've got to get a sleeping bag prepared and ready for dd to take on a sleepover tomorrow night, plus I need to purchase a gift in the morning. I have 2 sleeping bags to choose from - one child-size and thin and the other big, mannish and possibly wafting a slightly mannish odor as well... ... (ds27's sleeping bag). I wonder just how much I can expect from Fe Breeze... ...

The Kookaburra Song figured prominently in a Doctor Who episode a season or two ago.

Oh, I like that maid service name and tag line, Kathryn. Here we keep getting the flyer from the ones who say, "The Wrong People Are Cleaning Your House." and I have to smile at that.

Elizabeth, don't you want to snap a pic of that Comet art and let us see in Creative Home?

OKay, great job taking on an unfamiliar project and common-sense -ing your way right through it!

(((Scattered))) I'm sorry about your job. At least you still have something.

I spent 99+ minutes in my creative room. It will need another 100 minutes at least until I'm ready to start organizing things. The lego is still in there (since Christmas) so I'm going to see if I can get dh to move it back to the storage room for me. Our church musician has 3 boys who love my 'antique' lego so it was out for them since they came a bit in December and January. But they haven't been here for ages so it is time it gets out of my way (not that it was stopping me from keeping my room in good shape!

Once the room is organized, I have several projects. The first is to finish the kids paternal 'memory books' (I started that a few years after Grandpa died but never finished.) That will free up a lot of space since I have the documents and photos to go into the books sorted into boxes, so there's 4, one for dh, one for each kid and the original photos that still have to be scanned and printed.

Project two is to get my regular photo/scrap books for each year pulled together. All the original material is all down there in piles and boxes and plastic bags. I think the last year I did was around 2001 or 2002. Dad died in Dec. 2003 and I know I haven't got it done after his death, my life came to a crashing halt then (and never started up on the same track, it is like I jumped rails and went off on a whole new path or paths; both with the travel which started in 2006 and then my preaching studies which started in 2008.)

The final project is to get my books cataloged and sorted some how. I made shelf space for all the books I had gathered for myself from the library closing but all my books need to be listed and categorized and then shelved in some logical fashion. Found a book I need to read by Oct 12 because I'm going to a 2 day seminar with the author. Glad I found it now, rather than after the seminar! Or worse, after buying it at the seminar!!!

Now I'm off to bed. Dh is back into the city tomorrow for another movie. I'll make up a big grocery shopping list and formalize my meal plans and he'll take me shopping tomorrow later in the day so everything I need is in the house in case I start to feel too weak to get out. Of course, ds can run errands for me (as can church members.)

Waving from Saturday midday here.

re kookaburras - they love to chortle in groups dawn and dusk - and really aren't that prolific these days so hearing them isn't that common , and the sound does travel. It puts a smile on my face to hear them.

I'm back in my routines/dice book today.
Washing was on the list so washed kitchen things with lounge covers. My choice was to go with my oldish sheets with bunches of tiny blue daisies for spring.

I've lit a virtual candle in memory of Indiana. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/can ... =eng&gi=SO
You can light a candle and dedicate it as you wish. Called group name SO (for ShesOrganized).
Adding the SO group name will let us see each others candles.

Waving back to dove
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

Just watched "My Week with Marilyn." Good movie--I didn't expect to like it this much! Have "Larry Crowne" waiting at library. Also liked "Zookeeper" with Kevin James. His movies are a bit stupid, but I think he's funny. DH can't stand him!

Kathryn, we also saw "We Bought a Zoo." Watched it at DD's back in the spring. Liked it, but don't remember crying!
