Remembering Indiana today.
Her service will be held ... and many from the village will be there in spirit.
I'm just going to light another candle .. giving thanks for Indiana's being.

Light a candle Saturday - Remembering Indiana
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

Re: Light a candle Saturday - Remembering Indiana
tadas
dog out at 6am
filtered water
boxed Tmeds
went back to bed
dressed
bed made
breakfast
late lunch
changed sofa covers
washing
walked dog - I was tempted to dilly dally delay going out - thought of Indiana and Jake and went out. (I've been skipping the walk lately -hoping for a dog who can sleep in tomorrow. - 3K today
dinner done
next is dishes. Still needing to empty dish drainer and finish putting away yesterday's shopping. Indiana would have put the shopping away when it was brought in.
I'm needing to get started on bed time routine much earlier.

Re: Light a candle Saturday - Remembering Indiana
Thank you, LynLee. I was going to get here 'early' to name today 'something' for dIndiana, but I sure couldn't do it as early as you!
Today is a remembering day for Indiana. I remember her wonderful positive nature in all her situations. At least that's the face she almost always showed to us. It was a great day when I got to meet her IRL. DH also enjoyed that day and always asked about her and so many more here. This village became as much his as mine and Indiana was a great part in that.
I'm 'pulling' a Kathryn this morning and have the laptop in bed. Brought it in last night when we went to bed. Knew I wouldn't be able to use it for some time out in the living area. Amazing how small the space became when the bed was pulled out.
Have no idea if we're going out or staying in for breakfast. I'm trying so hard not to eat more than I need. Went out for lunch yesterday and ate 1/2 a grilled ham/cheese sandwich and some sweet potato fries. Made winter beef stew for dinner -yum. Didn't eat any bread however and was satisfied with one bowl.
Dh is up and out already. Unfortunately he's working weekends for another week and then I think he'll be back to weekdays. (I hope). He had plannned to take time off today to go to the steam show with his db, but the weather is looking pretty bad for the day -so doubt it.
DD texted me from Disney last night, saying she was at dShelley's favorite place, celebrating her life. How neat was that!
Have to go to S am's today to pick up pulled pork and some cupcakes for dinner at DS-A's tomorrow. Hoping that dbil/dsil will decide to go to church with us, but we'll see. We really need to go.

Re: Light a candle Saturday - Remembering Indiana
Good Morning!
Last night with FNG went well. The huge change in weather (dropped 40 degrees in about 2 hour time period with 45mph wind) had us scrambling to hang onto doors as 13 VDFriends entered/exit our home. However, as hard as we tried to hang on, the strong wind still managed to jerk the door out of our hands a couple of times and broke the door jamb as it was slammed the storm door against the side of the house. Adding 'repair door & jamb" to our need to do list.....AGAIN.
Today DGS17, DGS15 and LO will spend some brother time together. We will be doing more school shopping. Focus will be on DGS17 to get his basic supplies up to par.
Off to putter a bit.......

I, too, will putter today in fond remembrance of that often spoken of activity from dIndiana. She taught me much over the years. She was great one for saying in so many words, "don't sweat the small stuff".

Re: Light a candle Saturday - Remembering Indiana
Lynlee Thank you for starting the village off so beautifully today.
Lucylee when I was reading this morning your post from last night that you had to be up early, I thought, I could have managed that. I was up at 3:15 due to a big storm that included hail and lightning right over us so made me shriek and dive under the covers (and I wear an eye mask at night so you can imagine how bright it was.) Not sure if the tower got hit, will find out later if the tv, phones, etc. are working. The internet is up so that part of the electronics in the house survived. I never fell back asleep solidly, just dozing a bit here or there.
Harmony: I have no idea how long it will take to get the photos organized. I've been keeping albums since 1984 (and have two other albums, one of dh and one of me pre-marriage.) When ds was in skiing, I was one of the supervising parents which meant I sat in the chalet for 3 hours each week. I'd drive up with a file box of photos and started organizing. Got up to 1998 finished that winter (which included our around the world trip.) Since 1998, I've only done a couple of years! It should be easier now because there aren't many photos (everything's digital) but there are other memory things, like theatre tickets, maps, and newspaper articles to put in. I don't "scrapbook", things are just put into the albums in a logical fashion, however works best (page protectors, three hole punched and put straight in or in a photo page, the kind that holds 4 pictures per page.) All my albums are three ring binder-style so I can insert non-photos pages in easily.
The family memory books are proper, black page, photo albums and I'm using photo-corners to mount the pictures. But I've figured out how to insert page protectors into albums (these are post and screw mounted pages) and so interspersed between the photos are copies of letters, typed up accounts of family history, the genealogy, etc. so the kids get not only photos and genealogy but also a more vibrant picture of the person or family history. For that project, I've scanned photos and will have them printed up. Because of the post&screw mounting, I have to complete each page 'out of the album', stack the page in the order it goes into the book and then assemble the books. Times three, with each book being slightly different because dd's memory book has pictures of her and her grandparents, whereas ds's includes him and his grandparents, and dh's starts one generation back so is slightly shorter. Once I get past a certain point, all the books will be identical, but the first half dozen pages are different in each book.
I did four books about maternal heritage after my parents died (one for my sister, my kids and my nephew since his mother died when he was nine so he didn't have a good sense of our family history.) I'm the keeper of the family historical documents and while we were cleaning out Dad's house I realized I was also keeper of the family stories because my sister and nephew didn't know them (I'd discover something that was part of a story I knew and the others had never heard the story, nor known what the item represented in family history.) I failed to make up a book with the 'master documents' for myself so will get those master documents into one book, or at least box, some day. In a way I'm lucky my family history on my father's side had so few pictures and documents because it made assembling the book easier. Poverty does that. The same is true for the paternal heritage books, dh's mother's family was very poor so I have a great genealogy but very few supporting documents or photos for that side, and pages and pages of documents from his father's side.
All of the photos, etc, were stored under the pool table and I'd put the cover on and work spread out over that. Once I sold the pool table, work completely stalled. I now have a large standing desk space in the in my creative room and all the boxes are on storage shelves. But I haven't tried working on the project since things were moved downstairs so don't know how it will work. I'll probably start with my scrapbooks first to get a sense of how to work in the smaller space.
When we bought the new digital tv and blu-ray player, we moved the old 28" tv and dvd player to my standing desk. It takes up a lot of space but it also gives me distraction while I work. I found my time there last night was effortless because of the distraction. So I may get through the overwhelming projects using that.
One advantage to being so exhausted is that my 'outside life' has been pared down dramatically, which frees me up to work on these projects. I won't be traveling with dh and my own trip in October is only a few days, not a few weeks. So I don't have to do the pre-trip work, be away and then spend weeks catching up. No wonder big projects get put on the back-burner, my travel has taken a lot of time and destroyed most of my routines.

Re: Light a candle Saturday - Remembering Indiana
Google has had an interactive logo the last couple of days. I played with it yesterday in honor of Indiana. She always noticed the interesting google logos and made a point of sharing with us here. Her family will be on my mind today.
I was in bed for 10 hours last night. I slept for most of that. I think I was tired! Dh went to bed wee hours this morning, still in crunch mode with his students working toward a Monday deadline.
The temps here have dropped drastically too, Dee -- but not 40 degrees! Wow! Only about 15-20 degrees here; the high should be in the upper 60s today.
Small group #2, the one with the little ones, will be here at 5 pm. I am making pulled pork for them, so I need to look up a recipe. I made it with root beer once, and everyone really liked it. I need to make a groc. store run this afternoon. It would be good to get in a jog too. I think ds will be by some time today, so I also want to have some things ready for him to look through.
Drinking tea. . . .
