11 years ago today was a beautiful day, weather wise here. I had not turned on the TV, because I had errands to run. I was getting everything ready to travel that coming weekend. We were having a 25th anniversary luncheon and reception for dm and dstepdad. A df called and asked me if I was watching TV. I turned it on and within minutes, I seen a sight I will never forget. I was watching the Today Show and the horror on Matt Lauers face, as the first tower fell. That is when I knew that what I had just seen, was really happening. By the time both towers had fallen and we knew about the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania plane crashes, I know we, as a nation were beginning to wonder if anything else was going to happen. Dd1 called and asked me to pick up dgd at daycare. I will never forget her saying "if something happens, I want her to be with someone who loves her." At the time, dd2 was in the National Guard and worked full time at their state office, in the city of our state capitol. I was really concerned for her until we knew that all planes were grounded and indeed, on the ground. A large plane landed at our city airport. They did not have high enough steps to let people descend from. So our fire department used their ladders for that purpose. I remember feeling so proud of our community as they worked together to make these people feel safe and taken care of, as they waited for the time that they could fly out of here. Which was a day or two later.

Good Morning!

First 2 hourly time slots have been well managed and the 3rd one is looking favorable.

** LO to school - picked up 2 hours later and taken to counselor appt, feed lunch on the drive back to school.
** This week's focus (paperwork) is taking a small detour while I work on documents needed for court. Plans are to prepare/finalize them today, take to lawyer tomorrow for deadline to file them by Friday.

I am thankful for our public servants who give of themselves way beyond their job description. I am also thankful for the Administrators and Moderators who uses their talents and knowledge to keep this forum running smoothly.

I just put my flag up. I looked across the street at the school and their American flag and state flag are at half staff. That is always such a sobering sight.

I'm up and about to get off the computer.

Not enough sleep last night. Ds stayed over and may be back on Thursday night and will be back on Sunday night. He sleeps really well here and will need lots of rest on Sunday (he's on his way back after a weekend away, Thursday night he would sleep here before leaving on the long drive.)

The house in the village is quieter than his apartment in the city, next to a college! He complains about how cold it is, but cold helps with sleeping more deeply. I did get up at 6 and turn the heat up a bit which turned on the furnace.

I have a performance review this morning (I'm giving it, not receiving it) and then a lunch out. After that, I'll nap and get back to work on the boards here. I finally figured out how to set up a new forum (it isn't pretty and I don't know how to get it pretty) and so we can start in on one of the to-do tasks here.

A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHRYN! (Or was I able to wish you a Happy yesterday morning -I can't remember. Oh my!) Because suddenly I remember Harriet's artsy greeting!

Have been unable to get here and not sure how 'permanent' this is right now. Already lost connection once. Evidently something is going on in the park that's giving my laptop fits! Think I'll post a few lines and then edit, etc, etc -just to be sure I get something on here!

DBIL/DSIL left yesterday morning when we left to take DH to the Dr. I slept solidly (except for 1 short mid-night trip to the bathroom & right back to sleep) for 9 1/2 hours. I NEVER do that! Barely could get my eyes open at 7:44a.m.! I have to say that they are probably the hardest and most stressful company we ever have. Not that anything they do or say is terrible -it's just CONSTANT! A lot of "he NEEDS to do this" or "YOU NEED to do that" And the interruptions are absolutely UNREAL! DD said last winter, "You're right Mom, I never realized how much Aunt P interrupts and monopolizes any conversation". Of course she's not around as much as I am. There! I've said my piece and now can relax and enjoy myself again.

Part of me wonders how much stress was playing in my blood sugar numbers. This morning (when they probably should have been high) it was right where it should be. Hmmmmm. I'll see in the next few days.


Have water hot to do dishes. Our much loved neighbor called Sunday night to tell us his db from here had died suddenly and they'll be back here (from FL) today. DH got their RV all hooked up, the anti-freeze drained, water on, fridge on, etc. He's also reading their septic again as he had done the final reading a couple of weeks ago (full!) and has used it for topping off the septic truck. Now they NEED to be pumped. Think they had 1125 gallons and these tanks will only hold 1200. Bought some groceries for them yesterday so they can at least have something to drink, coffee, creamer and something for sandwiches. Going to go to a fruit barn about 7 miles away while my laundry dries this morning. She loves Cortland apples and they weren't out yet when they left. Hoping to get her some.

Going to the hospital this evening to visit an old friend from here. She's going through much as Indiana did. Though she's been in nearly a month now. Also visiting another wife of dh's co-worker and friend. DH asked DS-A last night (at fire meeting) if dgs12 might want to go visit his dfriend. (this boy has been in a coma from an ATV accident for a while now). DS was sure dgs would be delighted. Asked dgs the other day about this boy and he said he was doing better. Know DS-A has taken him in a few times to see dfriend.

Hoping to be able to take in a lOT of pop tabs (from pop cans) to Ronald McDonald House on our way in. Will call later when I know better what time we're going in to see if we can bring them in the evening. We have taken those tabs (lots and lots of them) ever since dgs19 was a baby. Took them to houses in Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Dayton and Buffalo. Till recently our local House was unable to take them. People have brought them to us for years to take in.

Good morning! It is another beautiful one here. Thanks for the reminder, Lilac. I have prayed for the victims' families and those closely touched by the events 11 years ago. I have prayed for peace as well.

Sunny, I think your comments to me yesterday were for scattered. My dmom - or anyone else - has never been on our property deed.

Girls are off. Dh is sleeping in a little after so many late nights in a row. I've had my bfast (tea and banana) and devo. time.

-work on talk for Thursday; this will be short, just an introductory overview of what we'll be doing this year

-dd14 has an oboe lesson at 4:45
-date night tonight! Now that ds is gone, our 3 week rotation has been throw off. Dh and I have decided that we'll do date night with alternating girls every other week. So, this week, dh goes out with one girl, I go out with the other. Next week, we'll have a family dinner on Tuesday. In 2 weeks, we'll each go out with the other girl, etc.

This should keep me busy and (maybe) out of trouble.

Internet shut off and I lost short post to Helia. Wanted to tell you how neat I think your plan of date nights is and what a wonderful family you have. Also wanted you to know how much I missed your posts when you took a hiatus of sorts. So glad you're posting regularly again.

I'm here!

I was home alone the morning of 9/11 until the exterminator came in and said that a plane had crashed into the tower. I turned on the TV then and was riveted for the crash of the second and the towers coming down. Dkids were in third grade - same grade I was in when Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

I'm waiting around for the workers to put up shelves and the bathroom mirror, supposed to be here between nine and ten a.m. DH has put up a fuss about me not staying here with them while they work - I was hoping to go on to work but he wants me here. Sigh. He wants me to work, but then expects me to blow it off when he needs me to also. Maybe I should have put off the installation until next week, but OTOH I lose a day next week to Rosh Hashanah and I want this done.
