I remember being on one of the old SHE sites waiting for Citylady to post to let us all know that she was all right.

Kathryn~my (almost) 26 year old moved to Toronto last year and it has gotten to the point where she just emails her father and I her schedule just before the first of every month. This month if just says "TIFF" every day until this coming Sunday. She takes the time off from work so she can go to as many movies as possible.

Just a quick "pop-in" to say I had my physical today, am healthy, had healthy lab work and got my flu shot. Will get a shingles shot when we have the $, as they cost $200, our dr. said. Will call the insurance co., first to see if it's covered, but I'll get it done sometime this winter.

It's bright, sunny, and chilly here today. Had to come home and put on a turtleneck and heavy berber top.

Been watching the news today and the reverent respects to those of 9/11.

Yes, I remember waiting and waiting to hear from CityLady. There was another SHE as well, who worked at a hospital on the East Side if IRCC.

I just talked with dfs who wished me a Happy Birthday, talked to me about my church friend's router he's trying to get replaced for free for me, and then casually asked if I'd heard from ds today. I laughed and said it was OK, ds had slept here last night. I loved how he was trying to figure out if ds was in danger without trying to worry me!

Dh called to and so we talked for a bit. He's really tired which is making me tired too. I got the kitchen tidied up but there's a lot of other tidying to do, not to mention cleaning.

Meeting with rabbi went okay and I'm home. I ate way, way too many mixed nuts for my supper.

I need to take the ddogs out for a short walk.

Of course, thinking of 9/11 here, also... we had a moment of silence @ school today.

Eleven years ago, I was in school on 9/11 also. DS's senior year. Another teacher came and told me about the first plane, and it didn't really register on me -- seemed like a terrible freak accident, of course, but nothing more... then I started thinking about all the thousands of people IN the WTC... and the other teacher came back and told me about the second plane! Then we knew it was NOT an accident, and as we heard about the Pentagon and the other plane, we began to wonder just how many planes there might be... our tv's at school were not working for the most part -- cable was out for some reason in a lot of rooms -- but most classrooms had internet access and for the rest of that day, I just remember a lot of watching the internet with students and standing in the hallways talking to other teachers and just wondering what was going to happen.

We talked about it some today in class also. My students now were in pre-school back in 2001, and they really have no memories of a time when our country didn't feel threatened, I guess. I think we have taken for granted the blessings and security we have had for so long. I told my students, when I was their age, our troops had come home from Vietnam and really, until 2001, our country had such a period of peace and security, or at least, it seemed that way to me. The world has certainly changed, and not for the better.

And on a more immediate subject... NOT the better news we hoped for you and your dfriends, Dee!!! I am sooo sorry and sooo mad about the court verdict. It is so frustrating to have something like this happen. You feel so helpless... and so ANGRY. (((BIG HUGS))) & prayers for the peace that only He can give, which passeth understanding, b/c there is certainly no understanding at a time like this.

So true, LucyLee. My hope is that somehow our dfriends may fight to get the state to establish a law giving a level of marijuana and drugs in a person's system. Perhaps they can call it "Jack's Law".

CathyS - What does "TIFF" stand for? Just wondering since me IRL name is Tiffany and therefore my nickname is Tiff?

Dee - I'm so sorry about your friend and the injustice. Will they sue him in civil court? I know that seems to have a great impact now a days.

Ddog has been very whiny for a couple of weeks and we have been trying desperately to figure out what was wrong, nothing we did would get her to stop whining at us. Finally tonight I had an epiphany... the fleas have gotten really bad the last week and DS19 forgot to give her her drops while we were on vacation. So we (DS13 & I) just gave her the ultimate bath and then coated her with a spray that will help until we can give her drops in 2 days. Oh is she a happy dog!!! First came down stairs and was running around like a puppy obviously happy and now she is for the first time in over a week quietly sleeping on her loveseat (yes my dog has her own loveseat ) lol and here as I type she just gave the loudest happy sigh... she is such a Diva Dog!

LOL, scattered, before we moved last summer we had a love seat in the master BR that dmacs thought was his! He settled into it every evening. I had a dog bed in the corner for Moses-not-the-alpha-dog.

We had a nice little walk.

9/11 australian time I'd put dd1 and dgs2 on a plane to join dsil UK with stopover in Japan.
A few days earlier I'd burnt my leg below the knee with a stock pot of boiling water
7am my dm rang very upset. She had been watching tv late prev night and seen the beginning of the plane in tower news and had stayed up all night watching.
I sat watching glued to it for more hours than was good for me. Finally someone put together too much footage .. and music and I came totally unstuck. The tv had to go off and stay off.
DD heard Americans talking at breakfast ... went back and watched the footage. She said packing up and putting herself and dgs on the plane was the hardest thing. She arrived in london to soldiers and machine guns. Finally ring thru ok.
My cousin who worked in trade tower was not working that day.
My aunt in kent refused to meet dd and family - with the words - get out of london.
I had to get my dm come look after me for 2 weeks.
dsil could not get an IT programming job and they were home 2-3 weeks later before they lost their house. They asked to stay here as they had someone house sitting and needed to give notice ... necessitating a bigger cleanup than had happened for dm. DBro actually helped with that as I was mostly sat with my leg up at the time. full thickness burns had gotten infected.
DD1 connects her PPD / hospitalization with DGD with her 9/11 experiences.

Prayers for all affected in whatever way - and for those now getting ill from the then pollution - the fireys and police esp, and NYers who lived with it.

Scattered: TIFF stands for the Toronto International Film Festival. It is dominating Toronto news/life these day (lots of stars in town, etc.)

I've finished the first priority task for the boards.

There is a new Members-Only forum called PWYC Archive Member Only. The PWYC threads that are over a year old have been moved there.

If you are not yet a member (Bernice, Ivy and Scattered are the ones that spring to mind) you won't be able to see it. Membership comes after a period of time posting on the boards but isn't a specific post count or time amount, but a combination of both with a bit of history thrown in (for example, my dh used to post all the times on the older boards so has membership here although he seldom posts here now.)

If you are a member, you will be able to see the forum at the bottom of the board index and can read back to the beginning of our time posting here. But you will not be able to post there. So things are archived and unchangeable.

This was done to add an additional level of privacy. Not that this is likely to happen, but if a stranger joined the boards and was trying to learn all about a particular member, they would fewer posts to gather information from.
