Cathy, so good to see your smiling handle. Can't believe these chidren of ours - your dd26 my ds27, Kathryn's dd27 - how did they become so adult.

I understand I missed Mystery but hope we see her soon.

Ivy, I've been trying to get here to say when you go to Cardfile Central you want to go into "Links" and click on the first one for many directions of good explanation as well as that page itself with several photographed examples of household cardfiles.

btw, I was disappointed to see that technomom's site (our second link in Cardfile Central Links) has been put on black background now, and even though the information is there, I myself find it more difficult to read.

Cowinkie, thank you thank you for the link to the European quilt winners. This is a tantalizing glimpse at the quilts that will be gracing pages of magazines for the next several years. I haven't had time to enjoy fully yet, but will definitely get back to it.

11 years ago, I was nervous with the insurance guy here recording info about a loss we'd had. We weren't supposed to stop - he had a schedule and needed to keep up with it and do a good job with his recording. He and I were trying to settle our thoughts from each of our own shocks at the first of the news. While recording, the phone rang and it was the news that the Pentagon had also been hit. It was hard to go through that with a stranger in my house, hard for either of us to concentrate. At that point, we were of course thinking where would the news would end. I had just started my T-Tapp program and found some relief from the televised tragedy by using the tv for video exercise.

I missed the relevancy of this day until late because completely unexpected company arrived and stayed quite a long time. There was frustration in that for sure. But if I'd thought of it i'd have linked to dd's video presentation about the World Trade Center building's long history. I'll ask her in the morning if that's possible.

DD10 and I had a nice Chinese dinner and went to the library for Girls' Night Out. Much better than staying in watching videos. While there, she got some homework done and checked out 4 books on bats, 3 on dragons, and one on the Civil War. She has a theory that bats and dragons are related like dinosaurs and birds and wants to research it. I also picked up a book I had on hold and rechecked and overdue book of hers. I have used the timer to get ready for the maids tomorrow. Next, I will put the last two items away and then work with the foster cat while crocheting and watching Hogan's Heroes. I survived my early wake up this morning!

I do like to look back at a year ago, two years ago, etc...
But I am chief among those who may be paranoid about IRL friends mixing w/my SHE friends.

Ideally... PWYC would go to "Members Only" after 6 months, I guess. LOL... I know I'm not tech-savvy enough to know if that is even possible. Don't worry about me. Apparently I haven't been "discovered" my students, their parents, or my family in all this time. Maybe I can just continue to hide quietly (or not so quietly) in my lucylee camoflauge.

I have just FINALLY gotten all my grades recorded in computer gradebook. I have two sets of tests not graded yet, and two classes of daily work that I am waiting for late arrivals tomorrow, but otherwise -- ALL DONE!!!

Kathryn, whatever y'all decide is fine with me. I was debating going back a month or so to determine just when I started to feel so bad - I have my dr. appointment tomorrow and need to know - but the times I've gone back are very rare.

I went out and got groceries today...also a couple new t-shirts and a couple packet of new socks for me, most on sale and I feel like I got a nice bargain. It was a treat to get them. Was a birthday gift card. Hehehe!

I got really tired going through the store. At the end I just quit. I know I didn't get all the stuff I needed, and I've certainly got bigger shoppings done before, but I swear if they'd had mattresses on display I might have crawled up on one and gone to sleep. It was a chore getting home and getting it all unloaded. Where did my energy go, anyway?

Managed to make dinner and clean up the kitchen and make lunches, then I brought in today's laundry. I have a headache. DH has a bad cold. Tomorrow I go to 2 doctors. So not looking forward to that.

Looked at the poll, Kathryn. It doesn't specify a time limit. It's hard to vote if we don't know how long you're thinking about. What was that hacker stuff about yesterday, anyway? Were they just shutting down the sites or were they actually collecting information? They made mention of it on our local news. By the way, where is the search option you mentioned? I've never been able to find it. Oh, duh, I just found it way at the bottom after all this time!

Well... again meaning to get here today, again getting here late! The saga of my disappearance will have to wait for another time -- I'd say tomorrow, but I am driving both morning and afternoon carpool runs (girls have started at a school on the other side of town), and even one of the runs eats up quite a bit of the day, so I'm not sure when/if I'll have time to peek in.

Dee & Harriet, I guess you missed yesterday's post, so I'll again thank you both for keeping me apprised.

As for 9/11... DD was about 1-1/2. I'd gotten her changed & dressed, and we'd had our breakfast, then I turned on our local PBS station. Once I had her engrossed in the Teletubbies or whatever and gated in the living room, I went upstairs to start the day's cleaning routine. Turned on NPR to listen in the background, and I heard Bob Edwards talking about the attacks. My first thoughts were that this was some sort of updating of "War of the Worlds" -- then I remembered that that broadcast had been around Halloween, so this was not some major anniversary of it -- what I was hearing had to be real. Went downstairs to the TV -- there was no way of knowing from watching the PBS station that anything was going on; not so much as a crawl over their children's programming. DD was less than pleased when I changed the station to find out what was going on; the second tower fell about the time that I got the channel changed, if I remember correctly. I remember sitting on the front stoop later (maybe the next day) playing with DD and noticing how quiet it was without any airplanes.
