Good Morning Ladies!

Happy Birthday to HRH!

It started out cool, is slowly warming up, and will be 75* today. I'm worn out from my physical and flu shot yesterday, but got some ta da's done:

- started a load of laundry
- made my side of the bed (DH does his)
- wrote a friend a letter who is having health issues
- rinsed breakfast dishes
- dumped trash from the rooms because tomorrow is garbage day
- called the ins. co. to see if they cover the shingles shot my dr. ordered me to get and they don't. $200. Will get it done when we can.

Kathryn, Good luck on resuming your exercise.

Booksaver, You have such a busy day! You must be young! More energy.

Dee, It's good that you're visiting others like you are. It's really appreciated when people are ill.

I'd comment on other ladies' posts, but they're on the other page and I forget from one page to the other, "who" said what. It's due to FM and medication I'm on. So if I sound like I'm ignoring anybody, it's not on purpose. I'm just forgetful as a side effect of FM and my med. Thank goodness for list pads and 3 x 5's! Or I'd never make it through the day.

Whew!! Busy morning. We act as advisers to the officers and members of the chapter. So we just sat thru the Board and the General Membership meeting. Gave our report and then installed the new officers after the election. That meant that between the two meetings - I ran back to the MH and quickly printed off three versions of installation and combined parts of each into my presentation and also printed off a Certificate of Appreciation to the retiring President.

Now DH is making lunch and then we will have a meeting of the new officers to go over their duties.

THEN . . . will be the tour of the MH, writing my report and then pack up so we can leave first thing in the morning.

Glad I only do this a few time a year - it is too much like work.

Whoa! Ivy -that is expensive. Check your local pharmacy - I know in AZ they have been doing flu and shingles shots. CVS and Walgreen especially - sometimes even Wally world and Costco.

Also see if Dr. will request a re-evaluation for X X reasons. Sometimes the insurance companies will reverse their decision for Dr. reasons.

Just another hot day here, temp is 85 but humid.

So very grateful for this board.

I got the floors done today.

Tomorrow should be dusting. Still trying to get into a good dusting routine.

Going to exercise today. I either walk or exercise. On Mondays I do both as Friday-Sunday I work to many hours to do much else.

MT & Harriet - thanks for the explanation, as I was reading the thread I was thinking that it was going to be odd to post a birthday greeting and then ask who HRH was?

Got sent home early from work; my tummy has been troubling me all morning with cramping and dry-mouth (not quite nausea but almost) I thought it was just the stress of the mixed emotions due to my job change and finding out that I will be taking a $1.00 an hour pay cut... not as bad as the $2.00 that they calculated at first but still. My DP (Dear Partner and Friend at work) is having surgery and has one of those immune systems that if you look at her weird she is in the hospital, so she made me check my temp when I told her about my tummy. I was the good DP and went on to the nearest unit and checked my temp, 99.7*. She told me lovingly to get out and asked where was the Lysol? The infection control nurse also lovingly said get out. Then my boss said "Go Home, we'll meet on Monday" (we were supposed to meet today about the new position). So here I am, still cramping and dry-mouth but no eruptions yet. Some of you maybe wondering why the panic over 99.7*, adults tend to run low grade fevers and even though it is technically not a fever until it is over 100* my family and I run very low normally (mine being 97.2) so 99.7* is yuck for me. Hopefully won't have any upper eruptions since I really HATE that. In my PJ's and headed to bed for a nap before DS13 gets home from school.

Our temps are hotter today - for us. It is 83 right now.

OK, took care of some DPCs. I had lunch and finished the a.m. routine this a.m. Spent some time looking at 9 11 videos online. Not really recommended.

Dd16's appt. this afternoon has been moved to next week, something about the timing between the vaccinations. Dh and I will go jog arond 5 pm.

I HAVE TO get my talk worked out. I already know pretty much what I will say, but I need to get specifics down, etc. I only have 10 - 15 minutes to speak tomorrow, so it's not going to be too long. I'm also crafting the questions b/c the teacher who was assigned that isn't feeling well. Questions won't be a big deal this week; we're keeping things fairly surface-y to start with.

I will not post again until I've made progress on the talk!

Morning y'all...

I'm a little behind schedule today...Took Sadie TWD (the wonder dog) for a walk this morning. As I came around the corner my neighbor, who's house backs up to me, peeked over her fence wall...its at least 6 feet tall...and hollar, asking me how I like being retired. I responded back with I love it and she said...come over here so I can talk to you. I was cutting through the common area when she yelled ...I've fallen and think I may have broken my leg. I ran up to the wall and asked her how I could help. She told me her DH was in the house and could I get him. I ran to their front door and told her DH what had was going on when he answered the door.

I went home...cause I had Sadie. Then I went through my house and ran to my back fence...which we both share. Sweetie came behind me. I yelled to my dfh and asked if he needed help. DF was not up in moving. He let us know he had called 911. I went back to my friends house and told them I would wait on the3 street for the emergency trucks. Our community is fairly new and doesn't always show up with the GPS system.

They came...I took them to my friend in her backyard. I stayed with her while her dh changed clothes...he was digging a huge hole to plant a tree....and rounded up needed items to take to the emergency room. DF is a retired nurse. She delivered babies for 30 years so there was quite a lot of joking going on...with us surrounded by 8 huge guys. I tried to keep things light and so did she. I told her dh I would check on them later today....Interesting way to start my day.

As for 9/11...Many of you know I am from that area. I was living here in Mesa when I watched the first plane strike the first tower. My experience is different than most. I KNEW I had friends working in both towers. And when I watched the second plane fly into the second tower I remember turning to Sweetie and saying....I wonder how many of my friends I just watched die.

My friend David worked on the 106th floor of the first tower. Days later his money clip with $400 dollars was found as was his American Express card. He was 32. My other friend was working on the 76th floor of the other tower. He also worked as a volunteer fight fighter in our home town. My brother at the time was the Fire Chief. When the first plane crashed, my friend evacuated his office and rode the elevator down to the 42nd floor. That is where you have to transfer elevators to get down to the ground. When he exited the elevator on the 42nd floor he was told by security to go back UP to his office, which he did.

After he returned his wife called. She was yelling at him.... what the **** are you doing there. He told her what had happened. She told him in unrepeatable words to get out of the building. He was going to stay at his office but figured the were probably hurt people in the other tower and with his fire fighting experience he thought he might be able to help. Thats what saved him. He took the elevator to the 42nd floor and walked down the stairs from there. When he reached the ground floor, he was told to run for his life which he did. I don't how many people from his office were lost. I won't ask.

but I can tell you this...15 members of my church perished, and 175 people from my immediate community didn't come home either. If you remember the picture of the kindergarden kids crossing a street in NYC during the attack, then you saw my best friends child. All the surrounding hospital in my area were turned into morgue. The four ferries that transport commuters from my bedroom community to NYC turned into shuttle that carried those who died. Many cars were left abandon at train stations along the commuter route. The cars left at the shuttle area from my area were covered with the dust that drifted over the water from the towers. You could see the towers burn from my shore. Six of my friends were on going to work on one of those ferries and watched in horror as both towers were struck. All six worked in those towers.

Later my dbrother was asked to help with the rescue. Fire departments from all over were asked to help with the body recoveries. Small town fire chiefs are trained in underground recovery which is why they asked for my brother's help. More than 50 students from my former high school lost a parent. And some lost two. Everyone in my area on 9/11 was touched in someway by the attack on the towers. I don't know any who weren't. My friend David's mother always goes to the city on the anniversary of 9/11. I haven't been to the new memorial yet, but plan to next year. It's odd to look past photos that I have. I have pictures of my standing on the observation deck 107 floors up on the first tower. I have many pictures where the twin tower stand proudly in the background. I recently took a picture from the beach were I grew up....the NYC sky line is in the background....and what is so clearly missing is those twin towers.

(((Kally))) That alone tells me how discombobulated you are - bet you glanced at a calendar and honestly have no idea how much time has passed since you've been dealing with advocating for and supporting your mom. I wish you a quick return to a sense of normalcy.

As for me, I'll be off my game for about a year. I'm coming to grips with that and am good with that now that my senses of optimism and humour have fully returned. Every once in a while I have a flash of normalcy and it feels wonderful!

My dental check up went fine and I have a new toothbrush, some toothpaste and some dental floss for my $220.

Went out for lunch at Tim Horton's and had the lasagna bowl instead of the chili. My insides are adjusting to my different diet so I didn't want to have the chili! Anyway, I took in my bible and devotions notebook and got caught up (I was a week behind - again.) It was actually very peaceful sitting there working because there were no distractions. At home I swear inanimate objects are calling out to me all the time, trying to distract me!

I picked up the mail on the way home so am in for the day, except for taking the clothes off the line. I'm back in bed now and will nap for a bit. At Tim's I had a raspberry lemonade which is overly sweet but that worked like my jelly beans so I didn't get the bone weariness I sometimes do as I approach my 7 hours of being up.
