Back from visit with the librarian -- got to catch up with the principal & office staff, too. Have to remember to tell DD about the principal's new earrings -- bicycles. (The principal collects whimsical earrings -- if she were a guy, (s)he'd probably have a bunch of funky ties to wear to school -- and DD would make a point of checking them out each day.) The book fair theme is "All-Star Readers," or some such, so I will have to noodle on that. Must avoid my first thought -- between one of the illustrations in the guide and me being a hockey mom, I thought of doing a faux Stanley Cup for the bulletin board, but that immediately led to the thought that the coolest thing about the Cup is that everybody's names are inscribed on there, and my next thought was to write the names of every kid in the school on the cup. Maybe not the best idea.

Nice to have an experienced teacher (or does your DH do more research than teaching?) to go over your notes, helia! Glad you enjoy my posts -- I'm so glad to be back! Just don't let me find those 2 pounds you lost!

BookSaver wrote: Other than the newsletter, which will go back & forth a few more times for proofreading,
This bit, Bookie, reminded me of the days when I was an editor: Every article would be assigned a "second reader," another editor who hadn't handled the source copy, for proofreading. Once we started desktop publishing, and galleys were ready in hours, or less, rather than days, stories were assigned a "third reader" as well, to proof the galleys. That practice started when we spelled the name "Baldridge" instead of "Baldrige" in the headline of a story about the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Yeah, our QA was not doing too well that day.

Anyhow, I hope you have a good nap!

Hope it gets warmer for you, MT -- I had the electric blanket on last night, and I did not wake up for being too hot!

OKay, can you set your device to "sleep" after :30? I'm sure LO looks spiffy!

Kathryn, I'm sure the Economist would put me straight to sleep! (Although my preference for when I can't sleep is NCIS; formulaic enough to be reassuring -- especially when it's an episode on disc I've seen a few times already, and I know Gibbs and the gang will get the bad guys in the end, and all will be right with the world.)

Hey, Twins! Hmm... more proofreading/revising... seems to be a theme for the day. Good luck with the house sale!

Next up for me:
• start a load of wash
• clean off the dining table
• tidy the couch & coffee table
• make sure the playroom's looking spiffy -- I'm pretty sure it is; I recall DD putting in a fair bit of time on it last night

That should take me till "the Crossroads of Order." 8-) BB around 10!

Hmm... got those done, and nobody's posted in the interim. Next up here:
• figure out dinner (It's still early enough to start a crock pot, but as we don't have anywhere to go tonight, I don't need to do a crockpot dinner.)
• swiff bathroom, upstairs hallway, and stairs
• try to find out who next has a charity truck coming to our area -- we used to have callers from Purple Heart and Easter Seals setting up dates, but they've both recently gone to doing such online
• check e-mail; send e-mail to the head of program where DD's team folded to find out our balance owed, and send a couple of e-mails to find out about the girls' program we might sign her up for. BB around 11!

Finally through that draft of the newsletter, interrupted by a few Email replies.
Dishes are soaking.
Now I can go try to catch another hour of sleep.

MysteryWoman ~ It's so fun to see you posting again. When I hear "All-Star" I think of the Oscars or Tony Awards. Does the school have a mascot or logo that could be converted to an award like a fob to hang on a backpack? tasseled bookmark? chocolate mold? ball cap? pageant sash?

I agree! Mystery Woman post are a treasure.

3D status -
** Dishes - Kitchen looks good. Even took time to scrub sink and get to a few of the corners that usually only get a "lick and a promise"
** Duds - last load drying. Other loads have been folded/hung and put away
** Dinner -
B: sandwich.
L: Spaghetti, green salad. Sliced apple for dessert
S: fresh fish sauteed with sliced onions, bell peppers and pineapple chucks, green beans, squash and baked (EPC) potatoes.

OMM.....
** I need to order part for oven. However, I forgot what part DH told me to order.
** Two packages prepared and almost ready for fedex to pick up. Need to find some packing tape first.....

Next up -
** FOUR days of MPB daily close out bags to be processed. Normally this would be totally unacceptable to let this stack up. It is a good indicator how busy I've been recently. Anything that wasn't on fire got ignored.
** Reclaim the 4 areas that have been cleansed recently. They aren't in bad shape and will only take a few minutes to restore them to "perfection". However, I know they will be out of control again if I don't keep up with them.

OK, hand out is revamped. I checked with dfriend who was going to ask re: child care for tomorrow. She had forgotten so she emailed this morning. . .

Yes, Mystery, dh is more research-oriented. His teaching load is 1 class/semester, unless his funding drops, in which case his teaching load would increase. He is a good teacher - a hard grader, but good. Students generally like him. He also cares about his students and how well he is getting across his material. Beyond teaching, his research means he gives a lot of talks, presenting his research, asking for funding, letting institutions know what he is doing with their grant $$, etc. All that said, he is actually not teaching this semester b/c he did double duty last fall; he taught 2 sections of the same class.

Your menus always sound awesome, OK.

The sun is shining; it looks beautiful out there!

I'm going to take a break and finish my a.m. routine.

I saw the dr. yesterday. I scratched my ear. It swelled up big and red. The dr. said I have either staph or strep in it and if it comes to a head, he'll make an incision and will drain it. He told me to soak my ear with Epsom Salts. So we dip a washcloth in a bowl of it,wring it out, warm it better in the microwave and I "soak" my ear by holding the washcloth around my ear. The scratch is in back. My lymph glands are sore. This a.m. I woke to sore redness on the neck. What makes this story so "odd" is that when we went to the pharmacy to get antibiotics, they didn't have it, so have to order them, so we'll get them today. The doctor said he'll see me again soon and might take a culture, too. Then he mentioned that it didn't look like MRSA, but that scared me. :o If things turn for the worst, since today's my dr.'s day off, he said sometimes the whole side of the face can swell and if it does, go to the hospital for a shot, tests and perhaps they'll keep me overnight. So far, so good.

So my PODA today is:
1- To soak my ear
2- To ice my ear when it feels swollen and inflamed
3- To call the pharmacy, to see if the antibiotic is in
4- To go get my antibiotic and ask the pharmacist questions about dosing with my other medications.
5- To read, write letters, take it easy and try to start a load of laundry if we need to. DH can dry it and put it away.

My a.m. ta da:
1- I dressed and fixed a ponytail so that it's out of the way of the ear while soaking, etc..
2- I addressed an envelope for a pen pal letter.
3- I watched the morning news.

This is why I didn't post yesterday. I was tied up with a long appt. for counseling for 1 hour, then immediately went to the dr. My osteoarthritic hips killed me from so much sitting, so I didn't post. It just wasn't my day, was it?

Mysterywoman, The principal's earrings sound awesome!

Emptynester, how cold did it get? :?:

Harriet, I agree. Nap every chance you get! :!:

Good Morning to helia, scattered and Kathryn, too. And Harriet, BookSaver, OKay, and all of you, too.

Ouch, Ivy! I hope those warm compresses are helping and that you get the antibiotics going today.

Finished proofing and sent off email to temple secretary with comments and corrections. This already went to the printer last week and somehow, the formatting had become corrupted and it had to be redone by a professional. Most the corrections I found weren't caught in our original proofing - for some you have to know who the families are...

I also went next door to walk through the house that is nearly finished to see their lighting choices...there are workers there today so it was open.

Next round:
-grocery list
-clear kitchen counters
-clear kitchen table
-start a lol
-15 minutes on clearing DR

You ladies are making me blush  with all your compliments!

So many good ideas, Bookie! Will have to noodle... though the mascot is a falcon and generally done as a detailed drawing rather than a nice simple logo like the BGSU Falcons or even the Atlanta Falcons (which is not that simple a logo given my limited skills).

Dinner here, OKay, is going to be a much simpler version of yours -- breaded fish fillets of the prepackaged sort, roasted potatoes, and some vegetable, probably green beans. We usually roast the potatoes tossed in oil mixed w/french onion soup mix, but the girls aren't overly thrilled with it. They do, however, adore the rosemary fries at the Q (there is a food stand there that is a spin-off of Michael Symon's restaurants; it's open for all the Cavs games (which we don't go to), but it's only open for some of the Monsters games -- when it is, getting the rosemary fries is a must!), so I have the last of a jar of rosemary soaking in oil right now. The rosemary is in really sorry shape -- I wish I had some fresh -- but if nothing else, it should impart some flavor to the oil while it sits all day. You've got the right idea reclaiming those spots; it's so much easier to keep something clean than to get it clean! (Now if I could only get some things clean around here! )

Glad to know beautiful weather is headed our way, helia. Clouds are gray to the east of here but breaking up to the west.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Ivy! (Did I tell you already that I'm glad to "meet" you? So good to see new folks here!) There used to be an epsom salts paste/ointment that might be easier to put on your ear; I remember my mom using it to draw out boils and such. I think it was called E p s a l; don't know if it's still available.

Waving to Twins!

The e-mail DD's old coach gave me for the girls' program bounced back; going to have to make a DPC later....

Going to flip the wash then make some lunch. I'm out of frozen lunches, but I have a variety of leftovers in the fridge to choose from!

BS was excellent this week. Today I think I've run out of steam so I'm enjoying a quiet morning alone here today taking this opportunity to regroup.

Done with that round, in some ways I just moved stuff from the DR to kitchen to see if it will fit in kitchen somewhere. I did get rid of a box in the DR that was nearly empty, now I can use it for goodwill.

This time I'm going out to grocery, dry cleaners, drug store, and gas my car. When I get back, I need to get rolling w meeting prep, too.

Hello dear ladies,

Another beautiful day of weather here.

I swept, mopped and vaccumed the floors today. All but dbrother's room, which isn't very messy anyway and the office area. The belt fell off the vaccum. I have two old vaccums and I don't want to get another one right now as we are slowly ripping up the carpets and putting vinyl down. Once that is all done, I'll get something light weight to do the furniture with.

Sometimes my upper thigh hurts when I am walking forward so I've learned to do a lot of side stepping which doesn't hurt. I think the cleaning activity helped a lot. I didn't feel so great when I started but felt better at the end.

Ivy, Hope your ear gets better.

Waving to all!

Off to exercise wisely and shower.
