Well, I crawled into the recliner and dozed until nearly 11:30. How I hate disjointed sleep. The heater kept running all that time and it was up to 79 in here -long way from this morning's 58! :? Didn't feel too great when I first got up -sure it was due to being TOO warm.

Congrats, Kathryn, on the coming new car -sounds really nice. We were planning to buy this winter, but dh decided to use the cash slated for that to invest and can't take the $$ back out until next spring -so we'll wait. I refuse to have a car payment. That being said he's been looking very hard at the E quinox. The car we choose will depend a lot on how easily I can get in the driver/passenger seats. A lot of cars are just too difficult. I'm very happy with our Town 'n Country but I think he's ready for something different. We've had a mini van since about 1984.
Dee, don't you think well visits and tests shouldn't need reasons...they save the ins. co. lots of money, especially when they catch things before extensive treatments are needed. Grrrr.
Yes, I do, Harmony. Believe me I will be asking if insurance approved the bone density one BEFORE they do it tomorrow. $6,000 for a colonoscopy? I don't think so either. And look at the advice they give now for having that done!

Guess I'll go to town, get mail, fill up the tank (it's $.05 cents cheaper on Thurs), and go to the $ store and pick up some candy for dh. Put everything he had left in a baggie for him to take. They've been on the road now for over 7 hours. DS wanted to get through Philadelphia before lunch hour. DDIL#1 will be flying in to Philly tomorrow night to join them. She figured out $$$ wise that it was probably going to cost her $30 more to fly than it would to drive down and back.

Have a kitchen that looks loaded and 'ready to go' so think I'll make that my focus today.

Morning y'all...
Picked up most my footprints before I drank my coffee. Read through the grocery fliers to figure out which had the best deals. A gf is stopping over late this afternoon and I've decided to make spaghetti for her and Sweetie. Got quiet around here while making my list and wonder were Willis was....why right under my feet which were propped up on the coffee table.

Had to take him to the emergency vet on Sun. He had helped himself to several water bottle tops and stuffing from Sadie's toy. I discovered the remains after he puked several time during Sat. He stopped drinking water for much of Sun. And I was afraid of stomach blockage. After several x-rays the vet determined Willis' guts were clear. However now Willis has Valley Fever. I was suspcious of that and had planned to have Willis tested this week. The emergency bet did that for me while we were there Sun. Have a large vet bill but I don't feel too bad because I would have had to spend half of it getting Willis tested anyway.

Need to do a quick house blessing and then run some errands. Yesterday was just a wasted day for me with that headache. Now playing catch up...

Gotta say I'm laughing at Lucylee cause I truly understand what's she's going through...make the thought of retiring at the end of the year much easier, doesn't GF??? Funny how it works....when you're done you know you're done. ;)

Dee: We don't have to tow anything so if we were going to go big again, we'd go back to a minivan. Much better gas mileage than most SUVs, much easier to get in and out of and many more comfortable seating positions. (At this point, I really miss my reclining middle row seats in the van.) Better safety features standard (or at least that used to be) and cheaper when comparing almost apples to apples. Oh, and they seat more people so if you are taking a crowd somewhere (like a car pooling a group of seniors from church), you can take 5 extra people instead of 3.

I got my Tuesday weekly kitchen chores mostly done, froze the meat we bought on Tuesday into individual meal portions (and made marinade for the two flank steaks), cleaned the scale out of my kettle and made a pastoral care phone call.

Then I rested for 45 minutes. Not sure I slept.

I'm up again and prepping for my meeting. The grocery list is made up as well. Will have to do the groceries after the blood work which means a really nasty left turn without lights or a long detour.

Been convincing dh, Kathryn, that he will no longer be able to 'buy' in FL for NY whenever he feels like it. Will have to consider space a little better.

I called the hospital to see if they knew any further re: insurance/bone density. Evidently not. So called my insurance. They said it's covered as a "preventative' every 2 years, but would probably have to pay a co-pay. Gal at hospital told me it would be $432 plus the radiologist's fee. So I'm as confused as ever. So I'll check once more when I go tomorrow for my mammogram.

Been sort of 'missing' my coffee in the morning. Just discovered I have Suisse Mocha cafe in the cupboard -which is sugar free AND decaffeinated. So maybe I'll have a cup of that later this afternoon and in the morning. Scheduler had also told me to go without salt (as well as the caffeine) for 5 days. Had some chips on Tuesday before I remembered. I'm assuming they mean 'extra' salt. Had not heard that before. No caffeine or deodorant I had heard.

Durn! Went to town and gassed up and got the mail (1 whole ad). Came back and quickly closed the screen to prevent a fly from coming in. Slammed my middle finger in it -same one I hurt so badly last fall. Instant pain & swelling! Immediately took acetaminophen. It's plain throbbing. Going to do dishes as soon as water gets hot, so that should help.

Beautiful out today, breezy but comfortable. Bet it was cold in Kathryn's neck 'o the woods. Know Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks was slated for 25* so wondering if she was anywhere near that.

Think I'll have that cup of mocha now and let my finger rest.

I'm finally home - moms group and then a meeting of some of the leaders to put together the small groups for the year. That alone took us about 2 hours. We were finished around 2; I did a couple little things while still at the church and got home about 10 minutes ago. I'm eating a peach and vegging for a few. I need to head out the door again in about 10 minutes to take dd16 to her pedi for a shot. She also needs another blood draw to check thyroid levels, but I may have to punt that activity to next week since we have dinner guests coming tonight, and I have not yet bought the ingredients for dh to make his famous shrimp curry, Indian style. Our local groc. carries most of the things he'll need, thank goodness. A colleague of dh's, a long-time visitor from Italy, is coming tonight, so I feel I should also do a little cleaning - although the house isn't in bad shape. If it were just S and R, I wouldn't bother. :)

Moms group was really nice this morning; I did my thing and the women really jumped in with comments that were really helpful.

I may try to get back later today.

Home from town. Unloaded groceries and did a little CUOP.

now it is time to leave to pick LO up from school. If I can connect up with DGS17 then I will head back to town to go have a quiet talk somewhere together.

Otherwise i will come home, prepare supper and take LO to his swim lessons.

Dee: we didn't get below zero here, we just barely dipped into the 30s. It is gorgeous now so I'm going to have dh take me for a walk.

Meeting, bloodwork, groceries and mail pick up went fine. I probably shouldn't add walk to that but the day is so nice I don't want to waste it.

That would be celsius, right, Kathryn? Of course it's farenheit here. Zero would be pretty awful here! :o

Been reading with my eyes closed mostly. Think I'm going out to find something for my dinner. Have no idea what I really want. Pizza is sounding really good to me right now. Just have no idea where to go to get it.

Did get the dishes done and picked up a little. There's things I want/need to do like take things off surfaces and dust -but I don't want to do them until nearer next weekend. Have company coming from Indiana next Sunday (30th). But I have pretty well wasted today. Plan to get to bed at a decent hour tonight and sleep so tomorrow is more productive. My mammogram is at 1 about 30 miles away so have to plan that accordingly. Have to pick up some groceries that we failed to get Tuesday night and plan to stop to see dfriend/old boss.

Good afternoon everyone! Last night was reasonably successful. I stayed late at work to make up time, went to Bible study. Then I came home and cooked stir fried beef for tomorrow's lunch (probably with too much ginger), cleaned kitchen, did not clean up LR. I am furiously working on a database for some stuff due tomorrow. I have also renewed a late library book. I wish the one I have on reserve would come in. It was due 8/30. It is a crochet pattern book, so someone is probably mid-project. I wish they would copy off the pattern they are using so I could get to the one I want. Tonight is art class so I will get home late. Or maybe I need to finish the database stuff and won't get to art class. I tried a different morning routine this am and got to work a little earlier, so I will continue to try it.
