Sadie--Listening to a Bible recording is a great idea. If you decide to read it, I love the way S amaritan's Purse divides up the readings for a year. I followed their reading plan in 2009 and got through the NIV. Then I did it again in 2011 using the NASB (New American Standard). I think I am going to read it again in 2013. Don't know which translation I will use, but will try a different one. Didn't know I was starting a tradition in 2009! This year, I have used KJV for my devotions. In 2010, tried reading on my own and fell by the wayside--so, it's back to S amaritan's Purse plan for me!

Speaking of apples, my favorite is Ginger Gold!

Asked dd this afternoon what her favorite apple was -I was thinking Honey Crisp and that was correct. Told her I'd look before we head south -not yet- and try to bring her some. Know we've done it in the past because she can't find them in FL. Also usually take Cortlands to dfriend from here. We plan to spend a night or so with them. (Ocala) Then we may spend a night with db/dsisil at the Villages. but I'm almost thinking db may be back up here to go hunting.

Haven't decided what to fix dh for dinner. I'm feeling a little poorly -achy, head achy, tummy. Got a touch of a bug I guess. And I haven't even had my flu shot yet so it's not that. I always have a day or 2 that I feel kind of yucky after that. Thought I was escaping it last year until about 2 days after. Not.

Getting pretty gray out -looking at the weather monitor I guess it is supposed to rain tomorrow.

DP is coming over to look at 3x5 card file system on the computer that I got from PJ & PY's site to figure out which ones fit each of us.

Need to figure out what I am doing with all the leftovers that DP13 pointed out that we have in the fridge... hmm maybe a leftover gumbo. gonna try google, they have a really cool recipe option where you click what ingredients you have and it finds recipes to match.

DS's are cleaning the Kitchen and DR for DP's arrival.

UNBELIEVABLE! DMom just called and told about their excitement. The hospice nurse was visiting with DDad when he noticed a strange car pulled into the driveway of their neighbor. They have been neighbors for over 50 years so DParents know every make/model of car that should be there. DParents knew that neighbors were not at home (were gone buying groceries). The stranger got out of the car....walked to neighbors front door....peeked into the windows. DMom immediately called DNeighbors cell phone and told them about the car/stranger. The neighbors called 911 from the grocery store and immediately headed home. Too late. The thief had broke a window, climbed into the house, grabbed jewelry and a few items he could carry and then walked out the front door. The entire time was about 2 minutes! He was gone before the police arrived. DMom did get a partial tag # but it was a paper tag and hard to read. WOW! Small town American in the middle of the afternoon. I wonder how this will affect DParents and the changes they will make. They have never locked their house doors during the day. I think a few years ago they started locking the storm door at night. They never lock vehicle and always just stick the vehicle key tucked into the visor.

I left work a little early and am home. I played outside with the ddogs for just a few minutes, then dh called and I came in a fed ddogs supper. I put a frozen pizza in the oven for the grownups (me and dh) - not an ideal pre-fast food but it will work and give us a little down time before we have to head to services. The rabbi specifically asks past presidents (dh is a past prez) and current president to be there at 6:45 - 45 minutes before services for his ceremonial photo. I've always thought it was ridiculous to be there so early for a photo that takes 5 minutes at worst, but it's always messed up any Kol Niedre dinner we might have as a family.

Anyway...I am relaxing a bit.

Scattered, Some days are like that and we just don't have time. But you wrote "Together Tuesday", which made an impression on us all!

Dee, you really sound like you know a lot about apples! Sorry about your achy, head achy, tummy, etc.... Hope you get better soon.

Elly, Do you listen to the Bible recording while walking or puttering around the house? Or do you sit down and take it in that way.

Emptynester, It sounds like you're at a peaceful place all right! Do you read books on a Nook or Kindle or the old-fashioned way?

OKay, That IS unbelievable! I hope your DMom and DDad take precautions and remain safe, too! This type of stuff is so prevalent now and maddening, too.

Twins' Mom, Your dinner sounds good. What does Kol Niedre stand for? I know it's a Jewish term, but I'm only familiar with a Sedar (sp) dinner our church had together with a Jewish Synagogue once.

I addressed 26 pen pals' Christmas cards, got a headache from doing so many, and decided that tomorrow's another day and will try friends and family tomorrow or Thursday instead. I set my dawn simulator and need to run and get clothes out of the dryer. I just wanted to pop in to say that the author who's used book I ordered is an author familiar to me. Rita Emmett. I have her book called: THE PROCRASTINATOR'S HANDBOOK - MASTERING THE ART OF DOING IT NOW." I cut up skinny bookmarks off of post-it notes, to stick inside books in the important parts. I'm going to go review what I have marked now. We're going to have buttermilk pancakes and fried eggs for dinner. DH gets a special mix, which is excellent and so delicious. Better than in a restaurant, in my opinion. We do our own breakfasts and lunches, but we do dinner ideas together and then he usually makes dinner. I help with sides, like fruits and salad or veggies.

Yikes! So busy since I last peeked in, it's hard to CUOP entirely. Did want to say to Sadie that if her DH has seen a doctor for his anxiety at all, they might be willing to provide him a medical excuse from jury duty, presuming such things exist in her neck of the woods.

dd is agonizing over her homework again. She knows more than she thinks she does, but the first time she encounters any difficulty, she starts crying and saying, "I'm stupid." If we're lucky, she doesn't hit herself or pound her head against the table. *sigh* DH is back from the bread store & helping her now.

I am thinking that I will not be joining DH on his grocery run. He didn't get home till almost 6, and I want to be here at 8 to watch NCIS. There's nothing on my list that I cannot absolutely live without till tomorrow, though I must remember not to give dd peanut butter in her lunch unless absolutely necessary -- she was just telling me today that she typically sits at the allergy table at lunch, and, "if I didn't sit there, I wouldn't have anybody to talk to but myself."

Garlic bread is in the oven now; dinner should be in a few minutes.

There goes the 1-minute warning timer for the bread! BBL, I hope!

I'm back from dinner date with dd16. Dh took dd14 out and then rushed off to a meeting with a friend and then to church session meeting. The girls are working on homework. I think I'm going to work on laundry and perhaps more Hebrew tonight.

I ended up jogging in the neighborhood b/c I was "running" (haha!!) too late to go to the park. Our neighborhood is hilly, not extremely so - we don't live on a mountain, but it is definitely not flat. I was pleased b/c I could keep going for 35 minutes, and I was feeling pretty good after 35 minutes! Maybe I was slower than on the flat, but I know I've gotten stronger; I used to jog in the neighborhood, and at that time, I couldn't sustain more than 5 minutes.

I took dd14 to her oboe lesson and went to the cafe, where I did hebrew for 45? minutes - and got through about 3 verses. Boy, is my vocabulary weak. My grammar is pretty strong, though, thanks to my ex-prof. I'm still parsing out verbs for my own edification. We got home a little after 6; dh got home about 10 minutes later and we had a long discussion about whether we should have date night tonight or not b/c of dh's schedule restraints + dfriend R had invited us over for dinner. We finally decided to go ahead tonight. I think dh and dd14's date was on the shorter side.

Someone here mentioned a ginger gold apple. I've never heard of that before! I'll have to look out for it.

I've never made homemade applesauce -- or if I have, it was years ago. I should do that; I remember when my mom used to do that, it tasted so yummy! Someone here mentioned granny smiths as being good for applesauce?

There will be only one dfriend for dinner on Thursday, so it will be nice to have that evening be a low key one this week.

Off to work on the laundry.

OKay - Yikes!!! I hope your DParents are ok and not too upset. My DNeighbor was hit a few weeks ago and we have all been on the lookout.

Mystery - Why does DD sit at the Allergy table does she have a hard time making friends? BTW I LOVE NCIS!!!

I had a wonderful visit with DP, her DPH and DsS go to Karate every Tuesday & Thursday which just happens to be 1/2 a mile from my house (less if you cut through the DNeighbors backyard) so she is going to start coming over when they are at Karate for our planning and to help Declutter my place. I will be going over to her place on the weekends or maybe evenings that I'm not working late. She has agreed to be my SHE partner.

Okay Leftover stew is simmering... literally every leftover (edible) from the fridge was dumped in except the Chicken Carcass which is simmering down to get the meat off and to make stock. It has Beef Stew meat, Sliced Kielbasa, a mandarin pork chop (boneless and cut into bite size pieces) tons of stir fry vegies, a scoop of mashed potatoes, beef stock, pork stock, and a can of cream of celery soup... not sure how it will taste but at least my leftovers aren't going to waste.

4 year old male + water hose + hot day + a shovel to dig a big hole = one happy but very muddy boy. I will spray him and his clothes off outdoors before he comes indoors for a bath.

DH is watching LO (I usually am the one to be outdoors with him). DH has had friends drop by all afternoon and evening to check and see how things are going. one friend after another. >>>>shaking my head<<<<< They aren't the type of guys to use telephone to call and directly ask. They just "happen" to be in the neighborhood and stop by for a visit.
