I'm on my second 'day' (time up being somewhat productive.) On the bright side, I get two of these each day. On the down side, my day comes to a grinding halt at some point when I need to rest.

When I said I could only be up for 7 hours each day, my girlfriend said there was no way my doctor could know that medically and I explained it wasn't the doctor telling me, it was my body simply shutting down. Aside from exhaustion, ache, and feeling very cold, I also feel like a cranky two-year-old who has been dragged around a mall and is starting a meltdown. There have been days I've walked in the door, gone to hang up my coat and found my hands can't manage the fine motor required to do that so I toss it on the floor and climb the stairs to bed, whining and teary-eyed. Just like a two-year-old.

Two to three hours later, I can be up again and eventually expect an hour or so of productivity after eating dinner.

This evening, I got my Tuesday kitchen dailies done, plus tidied up the kitchen after dinner. We had the last of the leftovers from Saturday night.

Now I'm tired again. Sigh...

Dh heard from his friend/mentor today. His wife has stage 4 cancer (this is the friend I thought had died over the Labour Day weekend but she pulled through that crisis.) Turns out it wasn't RA after all. She has 1 - 3 months to live at this point and no further treatment will occur. Dh's friend is resigning his chairmanship of the committee they are on and dh will take over. Dh was to take over after the release of the standard they are working on but, finally, our friend has figured out that he can't concentrate on work. No kidding. I knew that 3 weeks ago but it took him this long to figure it out for himself. He'll stay on until dh is back from Poland (where he is presenting the standard at a major standards meeting.)

Dh says we shouldn't go down to see our friend again - we saw her in the summer and dh feels we'd be taking time away from their time together. We will go down for the funeral. Now, I'm strong enough to do so and will hopefully have the new car by then so will be able to travel in greater comfort.

No news on the new car - they can't find the colour we want, phoned Friday for more colour options and we haven't heard a thing since.

Ivy--I haven't ever listened to Bible tapes, but think that is a great idea. I do daily readings. In 2009, I was always telling DH something that I had gleaned from that day's reading. In 2011, we both did the readings, so we had some good discussions. What is different about the plan I mentioned is that each day of the week, you are in a different book of the Bible. The Bible is divided into 7 sections, so that by the end of the year, you have read it all.

scattered--Your leftover stew was good, I bet!

We had friends over tonight. Showed them our progress, or lack of progress, on the house. Then we all sat here and discussed how to solve the world's problems. :)
How you do your work is a portrait of yourself.

Dd14 listened to the Bible on her ipod when she walked to and from school last year. She really enjoyed it! She probably shouldn't do that while biking this year. I confess that I have likely not read the entire Bible; there are pieces in the OT I have not read.

I am tired. Hebrew is taking longer than I thought; vocab is rather obscure. Why couldn't the author, presumed by many to be Moses, have used the same word for "bake" in consecutive verses rather than 2 different ones? I'll hjust ave to ask him that someday. LOL!

I'm going to get garbage and recycling to the curb and remake my bed and then put myself in it.

Adding. . . . I missed that elly and friends now have some solutions to world problems for us! :)

Curriculum night at school - I thought that meant a central meeting. I did not know that that means you walk the length and breadth of the campus over and over trying to catch teachers in their classrooms. With only two of dd's current teachers available anyway (one soccer team game and 2 viruses I think), we chose to try to find next semester's teachers, which really was a LOT of walking.

What I also did not know was that dd had already had a very intense day in P.E. with basketball and other sports, plus the usual daily walking all over those same concrete floors. By the time we were almost finished I noticed she was limping, and by the time we got home she was really in pain with a swollen ankle/foot all over again. Sigh. She kept her foot up for an hour, with ice part of the time, studying World History. I may have to take her to the doctor tomorrow.

Ivy, I like laundry for the same reason I like anything to do with textiles. I just like working with fabrics. It is not my dh who has jury duty, but Sadie's.

Since several here liked their HoneyCrisps, maybe I should give them another try - maybe from a different store or later in the season. Gala is the apple with a lower (not-so-acid) ph that is readily available most places, and the doctor who wrote the more scholarly of my 2 new books on acid reflux recommends the Gala. Before I even read this, it was already my favorite, so I think there's no doubt that the acidity of apples and how much acidity affects us really does have an impact on whether we can enjoy them or not. For instance, if I had to eat a Granny Smith I would cringe, and now I know they are extremely high acid, so there's a reason I naturally resist them.

OKay, your ddad's notice of the stranger may prove to be a great help, though, if the same person dares another robbery and gets spotted. Your parents were right to call the neighbors first - what if they had said, "oh, we were supposed to meet so-and-so and we forgot." You never know - everyone wants to give the benefit of the doubt. But a little vigilance can go a long way, and the police are on the lookout now.

Harriet, I love Gala apples. I used to eat Red Delicious and once I tried Gala, I have never bought the others again. But I might look for the HoneyCrisps and try them.

Wow, OKay, I sure hope your parents lock up better in the future.

Ivy, how many pen pals do you have? I didn't know people did that any more.

DH brought home a bag of apples yesterday. One of those paper bags with handles. Very small apples and I don't know what kind, but they are delicious! Neither of us likes Delicious apples, they are the prettiest but have the least flavor. He thinks he gets sick if he eats Gala apples. We like McIntosh. We also get something called braeburn (sp?) but I think they're too soft.

I took a long nap after lunch. Really didn't get much done all day. Did fold a LOL, reconcile a bank account this evening, and worked on a very confusing statement with DH and got that ready to email.

Kathryn, do you think you might be getting just a tad better? Sometimes I think I am, sometimes not. I kept phones with me all day, carried around from room to room because I expected a call from Dr. Nope. She must be very busy.

(((Sadie's dh))) I would be the same way if I were called for jury duty.
DH has been called twice, and the first time he did fine, and trial only lasted a couple of days.
Second time was just a few weeks after his ddad passed away. He got there for the selection and he knew both of the parties in the case, but neither one would strike him! He lay awake all night long and really made himself sick over it, too, and the next morning he went and talked to the judge before the trial began and the judge removed him from it. Besides feeling too "connected" to the two people, I think he was just really suffering from exhaustion and depression at the time, and the stress was just more than he could handle.
Ddil was called a few weeks ago but they cancelled the trial for some reason the weekend before it was to begin.

I've done little of nothing tonight except watch dgs. I did wash a load of clothes, but that's about it.

Hope y'all have a good night!
Tomorrow is another day.
