Willing Wednesday

Post by scattered »

I really wanted to call it Whiny Wednesday but that was My Brat talking. I am up early and have to be out of here in a minute or two. Going in early so that one of my Orientees can see the last pill pass on the night shift which she will be working. I hate mornings and getting up early just makes it worse.

See ya'll this afternoon. Have a great Day villagers!

Good Morning, SHEville!

I'm awake after a rough night. I'm guessing my afternoon nap was too late in the day, or I just didn't go to bed when I was so very tired so then couldn't sleep when I finally got to bed. Then I woke up at 4 and then 5:30 and never got back asleep.

Harmony No, I'm not getting a little better, I'm getting better about handling my limitations. But I don't expect to get noticeably better week to week, everything I've heard says this will take a year and I'm only 2 months into the process. The change in my energy is virtually unchanged from a month ago - I can just manage my expectations better now and have a better attitude. Aside from fatigue, if I overdo it I notice my urine changes colour and my temperature goes up so that's a sign that I'm pushing myself as much as I can be pushed.

I might have more to report after seeing the specialist tomorrow, but at this point, I suspect I just need to let my body do its healing on its own schedule.

Up and about here. Today is Yom Kippur - the day of atonement. We will fast today until the break-the-fast after the concluding service - probably around 5:45 or so. I need to write what I'm going to say in my "address" (short and sweet because it's last before we adjourn at noon.) Been going over it in my head so I'm ready.

Services at ten a.m., afterward I will come home and make Kugel (noodle pudding) and while it's in the over I will take a nap. Then back to synagogue for memorial service at 4 and concluding service at 5. Dh will probably just stay the day - there's a children's service at noon, a study session at 1 p.m. and a 2 p.m. afternoon service that I usually skip.

Although I say I fast, I do drink a little black coffee in the a.m. and I also drink water.

Good morning to Twins; hope your day is all that it should be!

(((Kathryn)))

Well... I broke my habits this morning. :( Here I sit... in my housecoat... need to s2s ASAP!!!
Just draggy this morning. It's Wednesday & lack of sleep is beginning to catch up with me.

Aggravated b/c dbro is coming in (from his home in FL) NEXT weekend, when we will all be gone in assorted directions, dgs included. Dbro NEVER consults w/me about the timing of his visits and the reason he can't come THIS weekend -- when we are ALL -- very surprisingly -- going to be sitting right here at home -- is b/c he is "committed" to a friend's birthday. * sigh * I understand about that, but I hope he understands that I am committed to dh & college town for the remainder of football season. * sigh *

Also aggravated b/c this afternoon promises a lengthy faculty meeting... could be two hours, d?principal says...

AND... local mechanic who was supposed to be getting our car STARTED again, now says we need brake work. Fortunately, dh remembered last night that we HAD brake work done at the dealership -- to the tune of over $500 -- only six months ago. We are going to tell this local guy to forget it; if brakes are bad, let us know & we will go back to the dealership & make him "lick his calf again."
(Have any of you ever heard that expression before? Dmil said it one day & I thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever heard, LOL!)
We're not even satisfied that he has solved the problem that caused the car to die. We've had a shortage in the electrical system for a LONG time now. Dealer can't find it b/c it doesn't do it when it's in the shop. Then it just DIES, we have it towed in to local guy (b/c dealer is over 20 miles away) and local guy apparently has only replaced the battery.

Oh my... maybe I thought it DID say WHINY WEDNESDAY at the top of the page.

All right... I am WILLING to start this day & make the best of it. :D (I'm not much for mornings, either, scattered! Thanks for starting us off this morning w/a good topic, however, and I hope you have a great day!)
Tomorrow is another day.

I am up and have had some bfast. Dd16 did an art project - a collage of a self portrait - at the dining room table last night and left a huge mess - cut up catalogs are scattered all across the table, decorated with sprinklings of miniscule bits of cut up paper. I am going to refrain from cleaning up the mess myself; I told her she had to clean it up this afternoon.

Harriet, in all seriousness, I think honeycrisps are a little more tart than some other apples. To me, they're a perfect blend of tart and sweet, but if you have issues with acidity, maybe they're not the best choice. ((dd14))

Like others here, gala are my standard choice, if I can't get honeycrisps. I'll be on the look out for ginger golds, though.

Girls have an early release day today; not sure why. Classrooms will be emptier b/c of the Jewish holiday today, but I think this was planned to be an early release day anyway.

scattered, you're coming up with great titles for each day!

I hope Yom Kippur is meaningful for you and dh, Twins. I'm not sure of a correct Yom Kippur greeting; it seems like a solemn sort of day. . .

PODA:
-meet a friend for coffee at 9:30
-errands: groc. store (other dfriend still hasn't gotten back to me re: brunch items) and pet store
-phone calls: change message on card on dmom's bday flowers, make an appt. for a mammogram -- I think it was Dee who reminded me of this task, Natl. Geog. to ask them to cancel one of our subscriptions; we are getting 2 copies of the magazine each month, try another company to see if they will work on our brick walkways. I'm getting the sense that this is not a big job and so is not desireable. . .
-maybe get dd16 in for her bloodwork
-laundry catch up
-Hebrew progress
-maybe some yard work
-maybe get to the gym to work in the weights room
-dinner: jambalaya, cornbread, mixed veggies/steamed veggie
-the girls have youth group tonight

I'm amazed at how I can keep busy w/out a payroll job. . . . .

Arrgghhh, I lost my post AGAIN! For some reason my on board mouse keeps being enabled. I go to the control panel/mouse and disable the laptop mouse, apply, then save it. But it seems to turn back on at will and I somehow hit the pad and wallah, it wipes out what I've written. Can't figure out why it keeps turning back on -it has only happened recently.

Know I said good morning to everyone and was crediting Kathryn with all kinds of wonderful words. They escape me now. I just feel you are doing so well dealing with your expectations of yourself and your limitations. Know it has to be frustrating at times.

I didn't feel well yesterday afternoon on. Was up and down during the night and finally took some benadryl about midnight. Still was up before 6:30. Good for me. Went through a couple of recipe booklets and got the few recipes I wanted. I'm trying to get through all I have and am taking the booklets to the laundry room to bless someone else. I realize there ends up being very few recipes I really want to keep. Especially now that we live 6 months in the park model and 6 months at dd's. Next up will be to discern which ones I might only use in FL and take them there.

Did my PODA before I came here and have been able to x off some already. I am s2 1/2 dressed. ;) I was a little chilly so have my jeans on but kept my warm pj's on for a while. Night was a little warmer -60* when I got up and 65 in here. Hoping it's nice Sunday when our friends come from Indiana! I'm sure they'll want to do a little driving around to see what's changed since they lived here so many years ago.

Know someone asked about penpals -can't scroll back to see who that was. I had lots of penpals when I was growing up. But, I've only stayed in contact with one in Hannibal, MO. Went that way and met her for the first time in 2010. Our lives have so paralleled each other since we were 11 years old. Hoping we can go back there in the next year or so. Maybe next spring. That was a wonderful "swing". Went to see our park model being made, met up with dINdiana in Warsaw, IN, spent 3 days with our friends outside of Indianapolis, went on to Hannibal, and from there to Branson, MO. Spent well over a week making that trip and then on to FL for the winter. A lot of miles though!

Suppose it's time to eat breakfast and get on with the day. Seems so nice to not be doing a multitude of things getting ready for company. Just have to 'spiff' a little here and there.

Oh, if only someone would pay us for this job, Helia! :)

It rained all night here, including a thunder storm. During the night the bicyclist that was tent camping disappeared (I would to if it was raining hard enough to make a lake where my tent was.) I assume he went up the shower house or some such cover. At least it washed all the dust and some of the bugs off the MH.

We were going to go out exploring today - but if it doesn't stop raining we will stay home and make some soup.

Sounds like a perfect fall day to me, MT! I'm craving soup myself right now. Looking for a good corn chowder recipe. Thought maybe I'd make that for potluck next Monday. Our potlucks are dwindling down to a 'precious few'.

I'm figuring after Sunday that I will start packing up for the winter months. Have to go through everything here to make sure #1 that we take everything we need for the winter (the worst is figuring what paperwork needs to go with us -I do have 1 file of VIP stuff that goes wherever we go), #2 making sure I have all 'liquids' ready to be stored somewhere. They'd freeze in here. There'll be all our summer duds that can be packed -or at least some of them.

Good morning!

Bleary this morning, and moving slow. I tend to stay up too late when DH stays up too late, and it's worsened in that 1) he generally needs less sleep than I do, and 2) he can hop into bed, close his eyes, and be asleep in short order, whereas I need to take time to wind down before I can fall asleep. DH was up late last night preparing for his retreat. Didn't do him much good, either -- he left at about 5 after 7 this morning; the retreat was starting with Mass at 7:20, and his school's at least a 20-minute drive from here. Anyhow, my body's slow, and my brain is slow, and the storm clouds outside aren't helping.

The girls waiting at the front door for their ride did remind me to put out stuff for Purple Heart, so that's done.

I hope your orientee realizes the sacrifice you've made for her, scattered!

Kathryn, if I may dare, I would say that those are a sign you are pushing yourself more than you should be pushed! But I'm glad you're starting to recognize, accept, and work within your limitations. (It would be good if we all could, wouldn't it?)

Wishing Twins an easy fast! (And a good speech.)

Sounds like your camel's back is being loaded with straws, lucylee. And nope, I've never heard your DMIL's expression -- though it doesn't sound like one I'd be likely to hear up here, either.

helia, your dd16's project sounds interesting, if messy. If I may ask, why does she need bloodwork? Will have to go back & see why Harriet's dd14 needs hugs.

Waving to Dee and MT!

Things I need to do today besides dailies:
• grocery store/gas up van
• figure out which account to tap for hockey fees & write check (I think it's going to be the one the girls' tuition used to be paid out of; I don't think we've adjusted the deposits to there, so there should be a surplus)
• e-mail hockey manager to find out what time practice is; she did send a bunch of information in the e-mail that asked for the $, but practice times were not there.
• send out my own e-mails as manager of dd's team; we have our first preseason game on Saturday, and I will not be at tomorrow's practice b/c I have to take DD to hers. Hoping that as we get to know people on DD's team, we will find someone who lives close enough that I can send her to ride with them on Thursdays -- the only families I know on the team as of yet live :25 SW of the rink and :30 SE of the rink; we are :25 NNW of the rink. Need to e-mail the head of our local program as to when he needs paperwork from the players -- I suspect before Saturday's game, which is going to be difficult with me not being there tomorrow. Will have to send paperwork w/DH and hope he can get as much as possible, then hope to catch any stragglers before the game.
• reply to e-mail from other carpool parent; he is scheduled for surgery soon and needs to make alternate arrangements -- as he wrote, "pain meds and driving don't mix," and I suspect his docs wouldn't want him driving soon after the surgery even if he weren't on narcotics
• should noodle on bulletin board for former school's library; tomorrow is my day to volunteer there

OK -- 15's!
:15 clean up breakfast/tidy bathroom
:15 start laundry
:15 clean off dining table

(Those last two may be a bit of a challenge, as they generally take a bit longer than :15 -- let's see if I can get this motor of mine running!) BB@TOTH!

Guess I'm wondering why pack them away. Can't they just stay in the closet/dresser in your park model until next summer? That's what I do when we leave the house. I even left some food in the cupboard (well sealed, of course) when we left in June. I'll report back on how it is. I did empty the fridge and leave it unplugged.

Bicyclist just came wandering down from shower house in his rain suit. He must have left something at the old campsite as he picked up a few things (tent stakes, I think) and meandered back.
