Hello,
My name is Okay and
I am a SIDETRACKED Home Executive.
Yesterday morning I posted my plan to focus on doing Dishes for 15 minutes. Simply, huh?
Yea....except for someone who is an extraordinary sidetracker.
While cleaning the kitchen, I was chatting with DH about his plans for the day. He was going to straighten up his "Man Cave" (MC). I asked if he wanted to take everything out of the corner nearest the MC entry door and completely clean and reorganize that area. He thought that would be a good idea so I volunteered to help him remove everything from that area......by lunch timer we finished carrying things outside. We started with the corner, but instead of stopping and organizing that area we just kept carrying things outside until the MC was emptied out.

It was unbelievable how much stuff had accumulated in the MC. It took a couple hours with vacuum to clean up all the walls, floor, work benches, cabinets, shelves and corners so it was ready to have things returned in an organized manner. I spent the rest of the day walking through the STUFF outside and grouping things into piles that had similar themes (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, vehicle rpr, fishing, etc). We didn't get finished by dark and things were still laying all over the yard in groups..... but no problem - we are in the 2nd year of being in the worst drought category there is. It should be fine staying outside overnight.
Hum.....maybe we should have checked the weather forecast before we started this project. Guess what? We got hit by a HUGE storm last night - including wind that torn the top of neighbor gazebo, picked up and moved our 800 lb trampoline ....OH boy....talk about bad timing to have stuff laying outside.....what are the chances it would pick this 12 hour period to end the drought?

The storm tossed all the items laying in the yard and I'm sure carried some of them off. Our neighbors 1/2 mile away posted on FB that her yard is full of STUFF now....
I suspect most of it is from our yard.

When the storm started last night, DH and I look at each other, smiled then busted out laughing about it. If this is the worst we have to be concerned about, we consider ourselves very blessed. The clean up and recovery will have to wait until it stops raining (YES, it is still raining!!! HURRAH!!). I'm sure it will take 10 times longer and we probably lost a good portion of STUFF and/or it has been ruined by the rain. But it is just STUFF. On the meter of "what is important in life" it barely raises the concern bar.
Now....what was I suppose to be doing? OH YEAH! I need to take care of the dishes! *POOF*
