Helia - My DUncle definitely is a character and he has really stepped up as a male role model for my DS's. This is impressive when you consider that they are newlyweds and were only married June 21st of this year.
The DS's are back, they stopped at a local greasy spoon and picked up burgers, o-rings, and shakes for every one! YUM! managed to finish my O-Rings but only a couple of bites of the burger... will eat it after my nap.
Ugh I am so tired, gonna finish my shake and head off for a nap.

Dee, You have lots to be grateful for, good luck on your walk and you got a lot of computer stuff done! My Ddil is a breast cancer survivor, got it when she was 22, had lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. Went into remission and is 34 1/2 now. And has 6 boys!

OKay, Thanks for the explanation of OMM. I believe it was P & P who coined the phrase in one of their books. And it went from there to others. I need to make an OMM list! Got a lot on my mind these days.

MT I love hearing all about your travels! I've been trying to figure out what "MT" was the acronym for, for a few days. When I abbreviate empty the DW, I write "MT DW", so I should have KNOWN that MT meant empty- for emptynester! It made me laugh at myself!

Helia, My DH has been puttering around here today, too, then goes and watches a bit more college football and goes puttering again.
I stripped the bed, put the sheets and pillowcases in the washer on a long Biz soak, extra rinse and extended spin. Had coffee, am going to load the DW, do my devotion, already wrote in my journal and hope to do an OMM list today.

Re: trees and open spaces...DFIL used to delight in telling guests from NM that "That green stuff out there is grass!" I also remember those folks felt claustrophobic with all the trees in the Southeast.
Re: jobs...I wasn't just a waitress. Also worked as a bank teller, bank bookkeeper, accounts payable clerk, did cash flow statements, and finally church financial secretary. Majored in accounting at a state university (along with DH). He has had the big career. I have mostly been a homemaker--which is what I have loved doing.
Re: creativity and left brain/right brain...I also loved studying languages and managed to pass that on to DD. Twins, I can relate to both sides of brain being equal. I remember getting the exact same score on SAT for math and verbal (back when there were only 2 sections).

DD called, I talked to her about the OMM and we talked about the most obvious priorities of it, which gave me ideas. I wrote the OMM on a legal pad, then worked on a story, feverishly, and now my right thumb is sore. I guess I was typing too fast. I'll go read on a book about writing next, since it, too, is on the OMM!
DH got the DW loaded with a bit of help from me and is running it. The sheets are drying, via DH putting them in the drier for me/us.
I need to finish reading this book and writing my story, but will rest the thumb while I'm reading. I can come back to the story this evening. I might take a rest or nap, too. Dunno yet. It depends on how tired I am when I get to that point.

Dfriend A has left. She has some hard stuff in her life right now. We chatted for about an hour or so. I prayed with her before she left. . .
Ds stopped by right before dfriend A did. He seems to be doing well, pretty chipper. He likes that topics in a couple of classes are dovetailing.
I got the vacuuming about half done; I need to finish that. Dh and I are leaving in about 40 minutes for dinner and the show. I don't think I'll get to Hebrew today, unless I stay up late. . .
I think I'm pretty even left/right brained too. It would take too long to explain properly, but my strengths were definitely more math/science in hs - until my Sr. year when something clicked in English w/ writing essays. Ironically, languages never really grabbed my attention. However, I did write stories as a hobby when I was young, and I was always reading novels when I had time. At my first high school reunion, my classmates assumed I had become a veterinarian, as I had always planned. They were surprised when I said I had not. (I changed my major during undergrad years to please a boyfriend -- long story.) OTOH, a friend who knew me only as an adult almost didn't believe me when I told her that I was more math/science-y than English and language-oriented in high school. She couldn't believe that! SO. . .which am I? A little of both, I guess; in the end, maybe it comes down to which area you choose to concentrate in. Standardized test scores, I don't really remember. . . except science was on top for ACT.
I just had the weirdest experience. So weird it has me smiling and chuckling. I ran to town to pick up OTC meds for LO (was thrilled to see liquid children Tylenol back on the shelves after a lengthy absence) It has been raining here all day so I didn't expect to see anyone at MPB, however on way home I drove by and saw someone doing something wrong at MPB. I pulled in and calmly told the customer what he was doing was wrong and it was "thief of services". He argued with me and insisted that I was wrong. I calmly explained to him in simple terms why we could not allow him to do it. He was stealing from us but more importantly he was putting other customers in danger. The customer then informed me that he knew the owner and was going to call him and tell that I wouldn't let him do what he wanted. I kept a straight face and told the customer what my name was and to go ahead and call DH and tell him. I arrived home to DH putting his phone back into his pocket. The customer had called DH and attempted to tattle on me! DH told him I was his wife and co-owner. If I told him not to do it, then he had better listen to me. I call these type of customers 3%'ers. 97% of the customers are wonderful, but those three percenters are a doozy!
I always feel so lazy compared to all of you with l/$+s of accomplishments.
I did a lot of shopping today. (Wa lm art, Michaels, Yves Rocher, and I got a new cell phone for the first time in more than 5 years.)
I did my criminal records search to renew my cab license today. I have to renew before Tuesday, but now I have the CRS and my driving abstract was mailed to me almost 2 weeks ago.
Dh and I picked up chinese food on the way home.
Kathryn what does the apple cider vinegar do for your hair?

CathyS: Apple Cider Vinegar rinses out the stuff that builds up in your hair, not only build up of 'product' (the only product I use is conditioner) but also environmental things like smog and cooking vapours that cling to your air, weigh it down and attract dirt. I also find my hair is less wavy when I use ACV. Plus my hair really soft. I haven't tried it during the heating season (this is something I started in June) so I'm not sure what, if any, effect it will have on static. One would think it would make my hair more flyaway but we'll see. It also seems to stay cleaner, longer, when I use ACV than conditioner, which makes sense because I don't have any product in my hair to attract dust and dirt.
My hair stylist says using it once a week is good. I wash my hair 3 times a week and now 3.5 (M, W, F and Sat night) but I might try moving my ACV to Wednesday and seeing if I can go M,W, Saturday. Showering takes a lot of energy out of me so I can't manage to shower on mornings when I have to be out the door and that's Sundays and Tuesdays for sure so I had to change my every-second-day shower schedule because every second week would become too much of a struggle.
Home from the dinner and the auction. The dinner was wonderful and there was lots of food. Since I was fourth last person in the buffet line, I was concerned!
The auction went well. I don't know what the goal was but we raised just shy of $800. Some things went for way less than they should have. An antique plant stand didn't have any bids but I had sort of wanted it, so I paid $10 for it at the end. I also got a cheese board (which I'll use as a hostess gift with some cheese) and a purple glass hanging ball that reminds me of dd because it is her favourite colour.
I'm achy now so will get ready for bed. Dh was pleased with how well I did. I was being pulled in all directions because they forget I'm not quite myself. They didn't have glasses so I ran home and brought my stash of plastic glasses and people were asking me where things were and how to do things. Funny, they do fine without me but when I'm there, they relapse.
I did find that at the end of the auction when people were handing me money, taking things, and talking around me, that I couldn't concentrate on record keeping as I normally can. And arithmetic (usually a strength) was a hard. I'd stare at numbers as it they were in Klingon.
