Village Anniversary Monday

First day of the week and first day of the month. It is also the start of the seasons (regardless what the calendar says). Endless possibilities for starting over.

How will you use this gift of starting all over again??

It is almost 3 am here in Mountain time and I'm wide awake. No nap yesterday so I can't blame it on that.

It is a travel day for us today. About 80 miles of interstate travel in 2 smaller batches. I think it is a total of 224 miles today. We will be staying in a new place for us, a Moose lodge in Belen, NM. We will only be there for one night and then on to Elephant Butte State Park for 3 days. After that some time with friends and then a rally.

I think I am restless tonight because I know we could be home in 1 1/2 days if we would go straight home. But instead it will be over 2 weeks.

I love the travel - but I miss my house and my church and my friends. I guess I'm just tired and want to rest a bit.

I going to go back to bed - I think I'm cold enough now that getting warm in bed will lull me to sleep. See you all in the morning.

Funny, funny, funny. Because I was having a hard time getting online this morning, that I had decided if I got here and found today was titled anything else, THAT's exactly what I was going to do, Harriet -change the title.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US! We've had different homes on the web, but this was our very own village. Many of us have been together on different sites -but this is HOME! Thanks to Indiana & Hugh, Kathryn & Ken for getting us off to a very good start in this little village.

I was up at 4 and went right back to bed. After I got all comfy I remembered I wanted to come here early & post. Didn't get up then and it was about 1/2 hour ago when I finally did. By the time I was able to get this open, you gals were already here. I'll have to chuckle when MT gets up and opens here and wonders where her post went -actually her post is still here, just the title is changed. Good work, Harriet!

Have to help dh do the 1st of the month septic readings today. He brings me a walkie-talkie and I put them all in the computer. He's trying to get readings as people pull out (permanently) or to head south. So, next month we should be down to about none. This takes us most of the day. Started out one day helping him last year and rode around in the cart. We realized how much time it saved him -it used to take him nearly 2 days to do everyone's. Then he started wondering about the walkie-talkies. They reach around the entire campground and beyond I'm sure. Does tie me down for the day, but there are some breaks.

Went to DS-A's last night for spaghetti. DDIL#2 asked that we continue to do Sunday dinners (probably at their house -it's easier for them with the baby) until dh and I leave next month. We all had a grand time! Held the baby until he got fussy. Full of smiles, laughs and cooing now. He's still going through some pretty fussy stages so ends up with Mom. DDIL#1 held him and played with him quite a bit. DH got DS's MH winterized (about 3 weeks ahead of last year!) and then came in to get some baby time. Hate to think about how much he'll change & grow up in the 6 months we're gone.

So happy to see the village open for business this early morning! Happy Anniversary! I got my 8 hours sleep and am bright -eyed and bushy-tailed.

Road trip day for me! Praying for those open spots in the traffic that MT had the other day. Kentucky here I come!

DD has our week planned. Will try to check in here.

Glad LO, Kathryn and Harmony are on the mend. Lucylee, my DS and DDIL have no concern about wedding thank yous. Not making it my problem. I do feel bad that they appear ungrateful.

Good Monday morning and happy anniversary to us! I need to jump in the shower and get the day rolling. House is mostly straightened up for cleaning lady, and it's pouring rain, so I don't know that the dog-boys will get their walk this morning.

I slept 8 wonderful hours last night. I don't remember anything other than laying my head down on the pillow. Woke up this morning with praises on my mind and looking forward to a fresh start.

Today DH goes to his quarterly doc appt. He already knows our family doc isn't going to be happy. We have slacked up on taking good care of our self and it shows. DH and I have decided we are starting fresh today and returning to our previous hard core eating regiment. The doctor visit will just be confirmation of our decisions.

Aw... ... 2 things ya'll reminded me of that we don't have here any more. We no longer have Swiss Chalet like CathyS enjoyed yesterday and we don't have the inexpensive movie theater Nancy enjoyed, either (also I believe no drive-in any more unless there is one in a distant town). That's unfortunate that movie-going has to be either a big expensive deal or nothing.

Another "Awwwww", at a high pitch, lol, from dd14, when I got her to read OKay's keeping-nursery post from last evening. "So cute!"

I hope Emptynester gets excellent sleep for the rest of the night. I must admit I had some nightmares and I think they had to do with being too warm, although I also don't think I got enough water yesterday and might have felt a little dehydrated.

lucylee, sorry you have a high-pressure walk-through to contend with this week. Imagine them in their underpants.

I'm hoping I will be both motivated and energetic today at the same time and get a lot done. I have some worry about things over which I have very little control, but I will take control where I can. I did get a note written to the PE teacher. I maneuvered the school traffic and line better - I'm learning.

Good morning! Thankful this site is still here! I don't think dh is aware that I'm back and posting. . .I'm doing better not getting too distracted here and staying on track.

Yesterday was full and I never got here. Church - SS (I helped out in 5th/6th, which was a good thing b/c one adult didn't show up and didn't get a sub so I led her small group during SG time) - lunch downtown - nap, sort of; I don't seem able to nap well anymore but maybe that is b/c I'm not that tired? - jog with dh - dinner, friends S and R came over - called my dmom. Her life is revolutionized now that she can get enough sleep with her machine! She doesn't ask about my kids, though. . . I mentioned something about dd16's more serious interest in art, and it was met w/ complete silence, which is the usual response I get when I mention something about my kids, esp. something positive. I really wish I knew why. Oh, well! She seems to be doing well, for which I am grateful.

This morning, I got up a little earlier than usual b/c Pepper needed to go out. girls have left, on their bikes - to dd16's chagrin. She does not like biking to school, but it is the only exercise she gets, to be honest. I have ordered yearbooks online for the girls and am now drinking tea.

I need to make reservations at the hotel in Detroit at which we're staying the night before the race. The race starts so early, half marathon at 7 a.m. and 5K at 7:25, that we don't want to drive in from here that morning; we'd have to leave around 5:45-ish. All the hotels near the start line are full, so we're staying a little farther out, and we'll have to drive in, but only about 8 miles. Dfriend B has already looked into this and booked her room. . .

OK, yes, 7 2yos for one adult is too many!! Here, that is above the legal limit, besides being above the practical limit.

I did not properly cuops, but I did notice a strep discussion yesterday. ((LO)) Ds used to get strep 1-2x every year, starting at age 4, and his first symptoms were always nausea and vomitting, often accompanied by a headache. He usually didn't even mention his throat. I think he often had a fever, sometimes low-grade, to go with the tummy stuff. The first time he had it, I fully expected the Dr. to tell me he had a stomach virus. I learned his symptoms quickly.

-dh is out tonight w/ a work-related dinner; girls and I will eat simply, perhaps leftovers or perhaps TJ tamales or perhaps scrambled eggs. .. .

Well... I'm off... It's a very rainy day AND a Monday here, so I do not want to be off... I want to be snuggled under my quilts in bed... but alas, it is not to be.
Only a 3-day week for me, though * Happy Dance... Happy Dance * and I DID manage to get ALL my grades posted last night/this morning. Finished @ 20 minutes till 1:00 (a.m.)

Must go now... gonna be late... Hope y'all have a great day!
