I've picked up through main living area, done the dishes and swept. Now waiting for dishes to air dry -then I'll wash my hair. Just can't do it 1-handed in the shower. The clean dishes sort of get in my way when I'm trying to shampoo in the other half of the sink. I do have nice, big and deep sinks in here -full house size. But it's still hard to shampoo with them air-drying.

Need to formulate a plan to keep me from nibbling in the afternoon :? :ugeek: Know, like Helia, I need to absolutely figure a plan for drinking more water. Know I don't drink nearly enough.

Was going to go shopping but dh's "winterizing supplies" are in the car -hate to have him taking them in/out. After he finishes that job we have to get ready for his Dr appointment. Not having a stress echo today -only an EKG.

Have a couple of piles started on the couch -of clothes to go south. Trying to really pare it down this year and be able to leave some things there and others here. Will have dh get the suitcases out of storage for me later. Won't pack our 'travel' suitcase until it's near time to go. I have to make a Dr appointment for me for my flu shot and general follow up -SOON. Just can't decided when it's best for me to plan to go. Know I'll have to have lab work done after the appointment. She likes it done that day, but I'd rather go fasting and have to 'prepare' much like Kathryn. I am a horrible 'stick' and have to 'plump' up those veins and be sure everything is heated/warm.

I may ask if I can have thyroid checked. I am finding I'm becoming even colder than I have been the past few years. It can be 72 in here and feel like it's low 60's.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

I need a plan for the day:
X a.m. routine
X update li&ts in my notebook
X paid car insurance bill online; Wow, it is expensive with 2 teen drivers on it.
X helped dh with cable routing
X wiped down the bottom shelf and cubbies in my fridge
-perhaps revamp my cards?
-groc. store
-library
-gas the van
-laundry: towels and dgirls' sheets
-Hebrew study
-bathrooms need attention
-perhaps work in ds' room
-jog - dh is suggesting I go long today, 3.5 miles. We'll see. . . .
-supper: jambalaya (leftover from last week), cornbread, salad or a fresh steamed veggie

As usual, I am ending up doing some things NOT on my list. . . .

I am ready for errands, but I'm hungry -- not a good state to be in when one goes to the groc. store, so I'm going to eat something first. I never ate bfast.

OK, I wasn't "a bit" too ambitious; I was very much too ambitious, but everything got done.

Lynlee, sounds like it was a very busy day! Don't beat yourself up for the things that didn't get done, but be proud of the things you did! Pleasant dreams to you!

Lilac wrote:Very saddened to lose 2 classmates on the weekend of our class reunion. That is very sobering.
Oh, dear! (((Hugs))) to you.

Need to call the rectory to change our appointment with the priest; we are scheduled to meet with him at 7:15 tomorrow, but we need to get DD to hockey practice by 8. Hmm... I should update the hockey schedules on the calendar before calling.

Skippable rant:
I feel awful for our poor priest -- and all his compatriots. Lots of Catholics have been "voting with their pocketbooks" due to anger about church scandals, the horrid new translation of the missal, and, here especially, church closings. Some church closings are necessary -- as people have moved out to the suburbs, there is no longer need for so many churches in the city. I can think of several places in the city where there are two Catholic churches within 10 blocks of each other. Up until the late 60s, there was a church adjacent to DH's school with another parish less than five minutes' walk away -- one was a German parish, and the other was an Irish parish. And the shortage of priests doesn't help matters; when I was a child, it seemed most parishes had not just a pastor, but one or two associate pastors as well. Now it's not uncommon to find two parishes sharing a pastor, with lay administrators handling as much of the non-priestly duties as possible. The current bishop was perceived as being sent by Rome as a "hatchet man"; our previous bishop, a native Clevelander, did close some parishes, but not many -- he set in order a process by which parishes were expected to team up and share joint ministries. I think he was naively hoping that if parishes saw that they could accomplish more by pooling their resources than by acting separately, they would merge by choice. At any rate, the new bishop very quickly required every parish in the diocese to make their case for staying open, and very quickly closed over 50 parishes -- about one a week over a year or so. Some of the parishes appealed their closings to Rome and won. At any rate, the current bishop has been very heavy-handed and, it seems, deaf to the grumblings of his people. His response to the decline in church collections -- how much of which is "voting with the pocketbook" is hard to tell in this economy -- is to start a capital campaign for the diocese, with the priests required to solicit each family in their parish for funds and with financial targets for each parish. :x :? (sorry, there's no face for "utter exasperation") [/rant]

OK, I've spent nearly an hour ranting; time to get back to work. Goals for next TOTH:
• update calendar
• call rectory
• start a load of wash
• excavate dining table
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

I pretty much have the same water tips as always I guess. I count by pints which I find easier than cups and use containers that hold a pint. I make sure I drink one pint before I eat or drink any other thing, so that it isn't in "competition" with something tastier that might take my attention from the water glass. When I have to leave the house on a warm day or when I don't feel I've yet had enough water I take my handy-dandy travel cup with ice. If I have any trouble remembering how many pints I've had, I use colored rubber bands around my glass to keep count.

Glad you had a safe trip, Lilac.

Dcousin called about a tornado watch and glancing at tv it was right over ddil's parents' town, so I called her and she called them. Her mother is watching it carefully already but nothing is flying yet! Ddil says she will see me tomorrow.

Lynlee, your Thursday sounds so interesting! Hope your training and yoga go well tomorrow.

I've had brunch of oatmeal, diced prunes and coconut oil.

Mystery, it does seem so much disappointment comes with hard financial times to rest on the steps of a church. There are definitely money worries for my church right now. Our denomination is small and never really "flush" with funds even in good times, I don't think. Now it's especially tough.

Forgot to add to my list. .

X wiped down the bottom shelf and cubbies in my fridge - just b/c they were virtually empty and very dirty.

Yes, ((Lilac)) On the same weekend as the reunion?

((Mystery and her priest)) This is a safe place to rant. That does sound exasperating!

Maybe I need to get a pint container; that might help me at least track how much water I'm drinking. I can go all day without water, except for maybe a cup at dinner. I do drink tea and sometimes a diet soda - w/ caffeine.

Dh thanked me for helping him.

Errands are next: gas van, library, groc. store

And. . . . we have weak sunshine! Weak and puny, but sunshine it is. :)

I'm experimenting with colors, as you can probably tell.

Good morning, villagers ~

Happy Birthday, Sunny!

Today will be relatively calm, I just need to get ready for tonight's sewing group meeting.

Chores are pretty well caught up, so I'll be able to go to the sewing retreat on Thursday with a clear conscience. :) Only 1 load of laundry left which I will do tonight or tomorrow morning. I could leave it until Monday, but there are items in it that I want to wear in the next few days.

I've been sorting through fabrics. Put some pieces in the "give away" bag last night. They were given to me but I'll never use them myself and they aren't appropriate for our charity projects.

Went through another box of donated sewing "stuff" last night and ended up throwing away almost all. Teeny tiny pieces of fabric and ribbon, old elastic and string, that kind of stuff ... from a very sweet elderly lady who saved everything. But in the midst of that were a small piece of pretty 1960s print cotton, a short piece of tatted lace, and several metal zippers, so it was worth the time to go through the box.

After reading the anniversary posts from yesterday, I just sidetracked myself on a trip down memory lane. I used to save posts and have my very first one from April 1998 on the old old old forum. That was the forum where the newest message was at the top of the page, so you had to jump to the bottom and read backwards.

Looking at that file, I see that Kathryn was already there, as well as CEO, Kari/Worthy, Webwoman, Madge, Hannibelle, Crispy, Lisa McL, Cathie in Eugene, Windforest, Ann with the crazy family, and Melissa who had big hair and a toe ring. Once the posts scrolled off the page, they were gone forever, so if you missed a day, there was no way to catch up. Polly had her baby at home in the bathtub with her DD11 talking to the 911 operator.

Someone thanked "Molly" for adding buttons to the board, so that must have been the web tech's name.

Right, that's enough reminiscing. I have 1 more bit of paperwork to do for the meeting, and then I need to finish washing dishes and figure out what's for lunch.

Good Morning Ladies,

WOW Two days in a row of morning greetings!

Happy Birthday Sunny!

We have sunshine here, got to get my walk in.

Morning was spent at Doctor's office with Dbrother and DH. We all got our flu shots. Was going to get shots at WM, they started in August which I thought was very early and wanted to wait until October. But now WM isn't doing them anymore for the year so got them at the doctor's. Dbrother got blood drawn too.

DH got a note from doctor for excuse from jury duty. He also got one from the chiropractor as his back is in bad shape right now and he can not stand to sit, stand or walk for very long at all. Got home in time to send the statements to the court so hopefully they will excuse him and that will lessen his anxiety which will help reduce his back pain too.

While at the doctor's I asked about the shingle shot for Dbrother, but not sure if he'll be getting it or not. Doctor is not impressed with the shot and doesn't really endorce it but will prescribe it if we want. It's very expensive and don't know how much insurance will pay on it. Not even sure if Dbrother had chicken pox, he's 10 years older than me so I don't know. He doesn't know either.

Will have to do some research on it.

Going to change into different clothes and get some walking in, then the house is demanding I do something with it.

Waving to all!

64 oz, right, Harriet? or is it 6 -8oz glasses -that would be 48oz. I know I'm ,pwhere near what I should be consuming.

Had a grilled peanut butter sandwich ready to start for dh (saw him coming) but he only stopped to winterize an RV. So, I cooked it for me. Ok but not my favorite. Have to ready his shpwer basket so he can do that before his dr. appointment. Then I think we're done for today.

Have chili thawing for dinner Been rainy all day -but not even enough to register. Wierd. Anyway, nice night for chili.

Wonder if chili would be a good supper for 1 Sunday at DS-A's & DDIL#2's. Have to ask this week. Having turkey this week. Reminds me to put potatoes on my shopping list so I can make a big pan of mashed. (DGD17's request). I'm sure she rarely gets them if her dad is cooking. Perhaps at special dinners at her other Dgrandmother's or her aunts.

DD said yesterday that she and GD14 got the lawn mowed (DSonIL just can't do it any more -probably dh will during the winter when it needs it). When dd came in later she couldn't find gd. She was in the laundry room folding laundry -not just hers but EVERYBODY'S :o Little by little we see some good poking out. :)

Dh and I have both had the Shingles vaccine, Sadie. We were in a study starting in 2000. The study was ended a few years ago because the results were very good and they just didn't feel it was justified to keep doing it. I had gotten the Real one and dh a placebo. He was given the "real" one at that point. Unfortunately I ended up getting Shingles anyway in 2009. They 'say' it was milder than it would have been had I not been given the shot. REALLY? Would sure hate to think what it would have been if it was any 'worse'. I was one sick cookie for quite some time! We were in FL at the time and had to pay everything out of pocket to the tune of about $800! I was reimbursed by the study however. I know here insurance covers it after one is 60. Our Dr. at the time in 2000 had recommended we take part in the study.

Now I understand that whooping cough is rearing its ugly head again and is quite rampant at the local school. Know I had it when I was probably about 2 1/2 or 3 1/2. I can still remember the coughing so I would sooner say on the north side of 3. There are pictures of me during that time and I'm sure I didn't look any older than that. Understand boosters are now given with the tetanus shot. I don't think I'm due for that though.

♥ ♥ ♥ HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUNNY! ♥ ♥ ♥

I loved reading all the board memories yesterday. The Book stories from MT & Twins and Lucylee were priceless. The poster from Pittsburgh was PGHShe. Remember her bunny stories?

Beside my schedules in my HH notebook, I have the HGP in the back section, and some specific house things, like vent filter sizes, and security alarm instructions, and vacation check-list. That list is the one we use the most, and the only one DH will look at.

Glad to see Lilac back home safe and sound. Well, I hope your sinuses clear up.

Today I've typed out my minutes for tonight's meeting. Fielded phone calls. Made a few, one to dr. to see if my lab results were transferred. After much run-around they were found to be in the computer. That office is basically paper-free and drs. come in to exam room with their laptops. I guess anything coming to them is scanned in. Some paperwork done with DH. He is presently irked with me because I forgot to remind him of something.

Oh, there is a nut recall of some sort. I don't know how to look that up, but it's supposed to be far-reaching with the products these nuts have been used in. Does anybody know?
