Re: Monday Motivation
SHE cards are my motivation to get things done. I like to compete against myself. I keep several #'s that I try to beat. One is the overall daily average # of cards that I have completed in the last couple of years. That is my "bottom line" that I seek to complete each day. Another is the most completions I have ever achieved broken out into each day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, etc). That high # is like dangling a carrot and motivates me to beat my personal best.
32 = is my low number that I try to stay above. it is the daily average # of cards completed. Some days I make it.....some days I don't.
But that # is there to motivate me to try.
117 = is my best ever # of completion on a Monday. It is my motivation to stay busy working cards and getting things done. I really want to hit #118 today!!

Re: Monday Motivation
At work today - wishing I had OKay's determination/motivation/energy.
Payroll work - I'm motivated by deadlines and by having plenty to do!
At home.....still looking for the elusive carrot! I love having a clean house that looks good. Such a feeling of peace!

Re: Monday Motivation
I am told that crediting myself for every single thing thats done is a great motivator.
Went to volunteer job for the first time today. That was motivating to go again. Make it a regular thing
Dog visited groomer today. Short hair for this warmer weather.

Re: Monday Motivation
Me too, Twins, still looking for that elusive carrot with housework. I also like it when the house is clean and tidy, but sometimes I don't like that feeling enough to do it. LOL! Or, the house is at a general level of tidiness so I don't feel a strong need to make things even more tidy.
OK, it sounds like you've almost made the CCC a game for yourself!
I like that idea, Lynlee!
So far today:
x s2s
x helped get insulation guys situated; they're insulating the attic today
x emptied dish drainer and top rack of dw
x made a menu plan for the week
I'm drinking my tea. ..
Dh just got home from a 12 mile run. He averaged 8:10/mile which was a little slower than he'd like. He is hopeful to make his 8:00/mile goal at the half marathon.
Next - finish the a.m. routine.
6x5: - perhaps too ambitious
1. a.m. routine
2. laundry catch up
3. groc. store
4. meeting at noon
5. jog
6. finish Hebrew for class, which meets at 5:15.

My three Girls motivate me, completing my work puts me in a better mood, and gives me more time with them which then makes me Happy
Okay..Do you actually have over 100 cards? Is there only one task per card??
Twin..I also Love a clean house, it does bring so much peace.
Hope to get all of Monday tasks done, so I can start working more on the Class Fall Parties, have just about everything I need for the crafts, and game, waiting for one more mail order to arrive...of course it is the largest order...and the most important
Need to get dinner out of the freezer, flip laundry and clear the breakfast mess
Have a great day..hope to be back later.

Re: Monday Motivation
My biggest motivators (besides company coming) are all of you. When I am feeling lazy - I come to the board and I'm shamed into moving as you all are. I hate to be the only lazy slob around.
Today is our really long trip - 35 whole miles. We will more into the park where the rally is being held and do our VCR thing. We have had a wonderful time here with VDFriends. Lots of laughs, listening to old stories and some new ones. Sitting in the shade during the day and around the fire at night.
Next week at this time will be our last trip for this season - we should be at the house by afternoon. I will probably be up before the sun and I don't think Ron can drive fast enough.
Time to get moving here - I have MAJOR bed head and need to go wash my hair.

Re: Monday Motivation
Bernice: when my dd was a baby (I started the SHE program when she was 8 months old), I had a card for wash hair, another for style hair and another for get dressed. Just because got into a shower and washed my hair there was no guarantee it would get blown dried and styled and, while getting dressed was a given, I certainly wanted credit for it!
I just realized I'm coming up on doing SHE cards for 27 years!
I'm up. Stayed up way too late last night. After posting good night here, I popped over to Facebook and saw my daughter lamenting that she had missed calling me (she doesn't call me after 9 p.m. unless she really needs me, but that's dinner hour where she lives.) Since I was still up and it was only 8 her time, I called her and we talked until almost midnight my time. I have a sore throat this morning and I'm not sure if I'm coming down with something or if I just talked too much yesterday.
I'm still in pjs. The bed has been stripped and remade, a load of laundry has been folded and put away, my clothes for today are laid out, the cutlery and serving dishes have been put away in the china cabinet and there's a load of laundry in the washer and another queued up. So I'm not exactly a slug but pretty close.
Today's goal is to get a minimum of the outside prep for winter chores done. Especially bringing in the hose (which will freeze otherwise) and getting the canvas roofs off the shade structures since they can't hold snow. Getting the outdoor living room furniture cushions put away is also important. Gardens are despairing but they may end up waiting until the spring depending on the weather and my energy levels this month. They'll spend the winter under snow so it isn't as if I'll be bothered by the view of them!

Re: Monday Motivation
Helia - BWTG to your DH running length and time. WOW! He is obviously motivated to do his personal best. Do your children join in the runs? I don't think I've seen anything about them running however I know their schedule is full of diverse activities, so maybe I just missed mention of it.
Okay..Do you actually have over 100 cards?
Yes, I actually have over 100 cards.
I have admitted to how many cards I have before but even here among SHE friends, I hesitate with a bit of embarrassment to tell how many because it is extreme. (lets just say it is in the 4 digits)
Is there only one task per card??
Usually one task per card. I don't have them broken down as well as Kathryn mentioned (one card for shampoo, one card for condition, one card for style, etc). And I don't have a card for everything I do. Over the years, I added a card when I found myself forgetting to do something.
38 minute phone visit with DMom. We are all caught up now on each other and family weekend happenings and this week plans.

Re: Monday Motivation
Good morning, ladies!
I got a little extra sleep this morning -- parent conference day. I'll be @ school from 11-6... then we'll have to do our Wmart run for groceries, etc.
We didn't do it last night b/c we were visiting w/my dparents & dbro. Dgs was very good, smiled & laughed upon meeting his great-uncle for the first time, LOL.
Motivation... hmmm... I'll have to think on that.
At school, having everything "DONE" is a huge motivator, and the fact that if one doesn't grade papers promptly (1) one's students worry her to death about it and (2) one's principal will start sending e-mails re: how many grades are posted in computer.
At home... less motivation. Helia's words are very true for me as well...
I am impressed w/OKay's motivation secret and MAYBE I could use that w/my checklist... start counting how many checks I get per day, and try to exceed that. That's a very good idea. I need to use that for my exercise, too. Being in better shape for ballgame Saturdays is also a motivating factor re: exercise. We park about a mile from the stadium, and when it is hot, that is quite a long mile!
I am simply in awe of Mr. Helia this morning, BTW...
Waving to ALL... Kathryn, Bernice, Lynlee, and all to come.
Not having parents waiting @ my door motivates me to get off the computer & into the shower!
