Forgot that Kathryn said today was their Thanksgiving -By all means: Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors. Not that many miles away for us.
I see greed here.
Ya' think, Norma? It's so outrageous when they can 'jump' on any little thing to be an 'excuse!' Know it jumped here this weekend too. It was $4.15 in town last night -hate to think what it'll be when we go through tonight -dh has fire dept. meeting and I have church council. This will be my last until next spring -that is if they keep me on as clerk (have a feeling I probably don't have to worry -unless somebody steps up and really wants that position). One of these years I'll just have to step down -but this isn't the one I don't think. One of the gals I thought might be pretty good for this position has suddenly become very ill with an auto-immune disease.

Have chicken thawing for a dish for tonight. Will get it cooked in a bit so I can throw the casserole together (chicken divan). Found a recipe that sounds pretty good and I had a lot of chicken to use up. Have told ddil#1 we'd be up for chicken wing dip any time she wants to make it (soon). ;)

DH brought me down lots of coupon booklets so need to make that my next priority and cut out what I can use or take to Fl with me.

I lost my internet briefly and when I signed back in this following post was sitting there. Have no idea where this one came from =the topic was "Sunsational Sunday" -I can't even find when that one was! Dawns on me had to be early this summer as I mentioned new steps.
DeeClutter wrote:Had to be around 98 for me too, Kathryn. DH retired from the "Big Yellow Box" in December of 97 and I don't think we had a computer per se -other than a commodore until then. Doubt we had internet before then. Wish I'd been more careful and written down dates -who knew we'd still be sharing friendships this long after.

DH and I were gone All day! Left at 10:15 for church, went from there to watch dgs7 race gokarts, went right to church again from there for a get-together about several from our church who went to Israel in March. WEnt to L o w e ' s from there for wood for new steps and then finally home at 7:45 tonight. I'm tired!

We haven't even had supper yet. Going to be left-over chicken parm. Friends from the park brought it to us on Friday. Yummy!

Good morning, villagers ~

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!

MysteryWoman ~ You mentioned needing to learn to drive stick shift. DH and I have both agreed that when we replace our current cars (2000 and 2001, both Hyundai Elantras), we will buy automatic transmissions. I read an article by the Car Talk guys that said with old cars it is cheaper and more fuel efficient to drive manual transmissions, but with new cars there isn't much difference. I've recently had to drive automatics in loaner cars, and I'm ready for that little extra convenience.

Today's check-in ~ I'm working on re-entry to "normal" routine. So far this morning I have:
*fed & watered cats
*sorted dishes and put first batch in to soak
*gathered & sorted laundry
*first load in washer to soak
*enjoyed pb&banana toast & coffee in peace & quiet
*cleaned cat boxes
*caught up on FB
*put shower head to soak in vinegar after conversation here reminded me that poor water pressure after DH repaired the leaky shower faucet may be due to clog in the head (the shower has a stuffy head, does that mean it has a cold? :) )
*searched & found the recipe Okay recommended for Mexican "rice" using cauliflower
*caught up on posts here

I did not have the time to do nearly as much sewing as I had hoped, but it was a fun long weekend. As I said last week, as group leader I'm always busy running the meetings and don't get the chance to relax and chat. I tried to make sure to have one-on-one time with each person at the retreat.

We were a small group this time, only 10 attendees when we usually have 16-20 for the fall retreat. Unfortunately, the only weekend we could get into this camping lodge was the same date as a big annual quilt show, so several gals went there instead. Also one who usually attends couldn't come this time because she had to work at the county offices; they were expecting a big rush for early voting.

My DVR recorded Big Bang Theory and Project Runway on Thursday while I was gone, so I'll watch them sooner or later. Then it lost its mind and didn't record anything else I had programmed for the weekend. Luckily Saturday's sewing programs on public tv were reruns, I can record the Haven rebroadcast tonight, and Craig Ferguson usually shows up on youtube.

DH said we did not receive Saturday's newspaper. That makes the 6th time since late August that the carrier missed our house. I have reported it each time and they credit our account, but it's time to remind the office that I dropped the subscription before because of delivery problems.

Today's 6x6 in addition to 3Ds:
* finish financial reports for libary group & Email to others
* call about newspaper
* go to library to read Saturday's paper
* wash Britta pitcher and install new filter
* declutter at least 15 minutes
* finish unloading sewing stuff from the car

Grrrrrrr lost my post somewhere.
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian neighbors.
Wow Kathryn 27 years working the She Cards, your description of your washing your hair cards reminded me of my Dmom's Pink personal card for showering, listing wash/ shave legs/shave underarms/shampoo hair/condition hair/body lotion/deodorant..all of her cards were very detailed but that one cracked me up ,my Dbro didnt understand the card box and why anyone needed directions on how to shower, do dishes, laundry etc..very BO
Okay..Your card system really intrigues me, looking at that many cards each day would overwhelm me, so glad it works for you ;)
Dont have many Ta-Da's spend time on the phone and way to much time on the computer with Pinterest.
So here is my 7x6
D9 bedding w/d/remake bed
7-1/7-2 laundry w/d/fpa
swipe bathrooms
Straighten Livngroom
Bread pork chops-bake
Prepare potatoes Au-Gratin-bake
Girls After-School routines
Best get moving..
Hi to everyone, have a good afternoon.

Moving along. .

The insulators are done. Someone needs to come back to do something else, but for the time being, they are done. Our attic is finally properly insulated! :)

6x5:
x 1. a.m. routine
/ 2. catch up on laundry - load of darks is ready to fold; whites already folded and put away
x 3. meeting at noon - dh and I met w/ counselor who is going to meet w/ dd16 who has been having anxiety episodes lately. Counselor also goes to our church; I know her a little.
x 4. Hebrew for tonight - I got caught up in the story and translated a little extra. :)
5. groc. store - menu plan and list have been made
6. jog - if I go at 4, I can go straight to Hebrew. Not sure how socially acceptable I'd be, though. . . Hebrew is meeting at a class member's home this week, and he lives right next to the park where I jog. Next week, we'll be back at the synagogue.

Next:
-update laundry
-a little devo. time
-off to the groc. store

I've tried so hard to post this for hours I'm just going to have to post and not know where or am with it or whether it finishes making sensd.

Hi, everyone - I won't be able to fully CUOPosts until later but wanted to ask....

Elizabeth, are you sure our conversation is adult/mature enough to get you over a weekend with children? LOL! My experience would tell me you need to watch a lot of serious daily newscasts to get over it! Especially camping with little girls! But thanks for the vote of confidence. Glad you got help cleaning up.

I must have had Motivation this morning for sure.

TaDas
Second load of laundry
Cleaned vacuum outside
Decluttered under dd's bed
(and lived to tell it)
Organized LR calendar

My LR calendar holder is a sweet painted wood one in which I always keep "Cottage Charm" calendars by Jim Mitchell. I have several of them and they aren't dated by year, so I just rotate and use my own printing from the computer if the dates don't fall right. I've got them ready now through the end of 2014. I made up a clear set of notes for myself, too, on exactly what font, size and spacing to use if I need to "change" a month in the future. I also know that I'd like to find one, even if old on ebay, that would begin the year on a Thursday!

Good Morning, Villagers! :D

I enjoyed reading everybody's motivations! :!: :)

Things that motivate me are:
1- When the ARC donation truck is coming for a pick-up at our home.
2- Deadlines on stories to be written.
3- Holidays, family functions and birthdays.
4- Company coming, so I make sure the house is clean. :) Or clean-er!
5- Getting a nice letter from a pen pal motivates me to reply to them.
6- When the scales go up or my jeans are snug across the belly, it motivates me to move more, watch night-time snacking.
7- Going to dr. appt.'s motivates me to take care of myself.
8- Holidays coming motivates me to do gift crochet and also when someone's having a birthday, too.
9- My 3 x 5's motivate me. :)

PODA:
1- Crochet (have been doing it this a.m.)
2- Read
3- De-clutter
4- ARC donation together with more stuff (Have added more things this morning.)
5- To walk 1/2 hour because I've been sliding.

Ta Da:
1- I read my devotion, prayed, and wrote in my journal
2- I crocheted on a grson's gift afghan
3- I put out a "fire" on my end table and redecorated it.
4- I tidied the small office/craft room
5- I chatted with DH about his cleaning the gutters before the weekend rains come. We agreed he should baby-step the process and do a bit each day until it's done.
6- I put some tablecloths, which are too "slippery" on our table, in the ARC donation box.

Waving Good Morning to Everybody! I loved reading what motivates everyone! I'll come back later, to slowly re-read these posts to see what motivates you all, could be a motivator for me, in my life, too. I enjoy being able to learn from each other.

Lunch created, served, enjoyed and cleaned up. I started out with the intentions of making chicken fajitas with a side of refried beans, but ended up with chicken burritos instead. The ingredients were the same, but cut up differently Four of the ingredients were freshly picked from the garden.

UPS delivered a book I had ordered right before my "Toes Up" time slot. Perfect timing!

I don't look at all my cards every day. I learned to use SHE cards using 3"x5" index cards. My card box kept growing....and growing...and growing to support all the cards. My last SHE card box was a fishing tackle box that I stumbled upon that worked perfectly to hold 100's of cards and their dividers. I really REALLY like using 3x5" cards, however there became a point that it was taking too much time to manually manipulate all those cards....and looking for a card that had been accidently misfiled was agonizingly slow! So I copied all the information from 3x5" card into a digital format (spreadsheet). Now the cards are automatically color coded (using several conditional formatting formulas) and are easily sorted. The cards that are not due are not seen. If I need to see a particular card, then I do a search for it. Waaaay more information in this paragraph then needed. It is easy to see that I love SHE cards and talking about them.

Helia - BWTG on completion of insulation project. DDIL had Radiant Barrier added to their attic and tracked how much difference it made. I can't remember the details but do remember being surprised how fast the pay back was.

Ivy - you have your day well planned and are making good progress. YGG!

Harriet - the calendar setup sounds perfect. POTB!
