Re: Motivated Monday
Good afternoon everyone! Yesterday was a success. DD10 and I joined a friend and her daughter for a visit to a pumpkin patch and got 5 pumpkins. After DD left, I ran some errands and worked in 15 minute increments. Two periods were job search, one for kitchen clean up, one for LR cleanup, then two for crochet and mindless video entertainment. I also got a load of laundry done and mostly put away.
My motivator is the Halloween party this Saturday. I have to get the house picked up (it is already clean, just not all put away) and the decoration done. I will not get much done tonight because I am spending the night with a friend, so I can be her transportation to/from the hospital tomorrow. I will have to pack stuff for tomorrow and stuff to do in the waiting room (books and crochet).
This is a crazy week, with parent teacher conferences on Wed and Thurs. I am taking Friday off to help with the cat show fundraiser setup and to prepare for the Halloween party and go to a doctor's appointment!
Tonight I do need to do something on the job hunt front, find the wine punch recipe, and pack. If I can't find the recipe I will have to get it from XDH. He has not decided whether to come to the Halloween party. There is a friend from out of town coming that he does not get to see often.

OKay as per discussion between me and Ivy in J and C, don't let the amazing noise of the MRI be a surprise to your dmother.
Sadie, very cool that you are feeling so toned. You'll have to pop into H and F and give us tips!
Enjoy crochet time tomorrow, Elizabeth - think spooky decor thoughts for a distraction, too!
Harmony, so many times I meant to say get a photo of you and dgd during this time. You probably already did, but somehow document this long time spent together during her toddler-hood! She will be able to "remember" if reminded. Now, put your feet up.
Dd14 is in the middle of mid-terms for her half-year courses. Psychology today and World History tomorrow, so she is swamped. Tomorrow if it looks do-able I might go to vote after school pick-up to keep up our tradition of always having one of my children with me. I know I won't want to go the next day because dstepdil will be here.

Re: Motivated Monday
Raspberry cheesecake bars are done. Rice is going. Chickpeas are simmering. My goodness - I'd forgotten how long it takes to peel and grate fresh ginger and how many onions Indian recipes often call for. needless to say, prepping the chickpeas took longer than expected. I skipped fresh lemon juice and went for Rea L emon. I'm going to throw together the cucumber salad next. It should be a nice meal, though. I'm making a large amount b/c this is our dinner too.

TOTH CI -
** LO home from school.....talking 9000 mph telling incredible (to a 4 year old) details of his day.
it's nice to have him back to normal.
** Monday folder papers processed.
* Required a call to supertendent office to clear up questions i had about form sent home.
* Went online & placed monthly books order (to raise funds to purchase classroom books). LO watched Curious George cartoons while he was sick and enjoyed them, so I ordered some of CG books for him.
* *update flashcards to add new sight words for this week (purple, like).
** bought pro version of the flashcard demo app we have been using for past 2 weeks. LO thinks it is a game. It is an easy way to help recognize/reinforce his sight words.
** downloaded ereader software to access the "free" ebooks
Next hourly focus -
** homework
** supper prep (spaghetti with homemade meatballs)

OKay, if you can understand complicated 9,000 mpg stories from LO at 4 years, and he understands friends across rooms (lady at store) I don't think doctor will find he has hearing difficulties that are too profound. Something mild may be going on.
I've exercised. Have kept calories low today. Need more water.
Dd is showering quick with the thought of riding along as her Daddy and UncleB visit at hospital this evening. Tight visiting hours mean it is useless to go early. We're still not sure how this will work out, only that dstepson will not be going, as he has to go in to work too early to manage. Between now and then, dd needs to be a World History girl for sure because with this schedule it will be too dark in the car to see books and papers.
Bars sound delightful, helia - I would be tempted to try it adding chocolate sometime! (I love raspberry-chocolate flavor blends)

Re: Motivated Monday
Hi Everyone!
Happy (Belated) Birthday OKay! I'm sorry I wasn't here yesterday to send you wishes then!
Harmony, how are you doing? Did you get some rest this afternoon? I know you'll be missing dgd2 now that she's gone home. I'm glad your test was good.
I worked with you all this afternoon for a while. Just general routines and picking up from the weekend. I did one lol, will do the rest tomorrow. Dh has a blood test tomorrow morning. We will run a few errands after that = pay the gas bill in downtown office, past the post office to mail a letter and run through W-M for a few quick items.
Dfam#2 came yesterday. No one felt like cooking so we went to Applebee's for supper. We haven't been out to eat with them for a long while. We came home for dessert. Saturday was dgd15's (dfam#1's ddaughter) homecoming, so we didn't see them this weekend. Can't wait to hear all about it.
Kathryn, your trip sounded wonderful. OKay, happy for LO that he feels better. Harriet, good luck wishes to dd on her tests. Glad you're feeling better, MT. Sadie, WTG with the exercising! That's all I can remember.....waving to everyone!

Re: Motivated Monday
Home from work - ended up working until a little after six, then bought mineral spirits for paint clean up and I'm feelin' not up to getting out paint stuff to touch up first coat tonight. Sun is dropping fast and I need to eat supper and walk ddogs (not necessarily in that order.) Harriet, I am repainting the rockers for the front porch and a kitchen stool to use as a rustic "table" between them. Dfriend had commented after we moved in that repainting them black to match the house hardware would help them stand out - they were orangy oak before.
We have soup for supper tonight - dh is bowling of course.
I should change clothes and get ddogs out to walk.

Home safe now.
We are going to miss the rental car - our new one, as nice as it is, doesn't hold a candle to the Volvo we rented. But it does get twice the gas mileage. My sister paid for half the gas for the trip which was nice.
It was a wonderful trip. I did get teary saying goodbye because Unc mentioned again that it might be the last time we see each other. So we had a good round of "I love you" which will help in that day in the future. I remember saying it at the close of my last conversation with my Dad and it is one of those little things that makes me feel just a tiny bit better about his dying so suddenly. No regrets. There will be none when Unc dies either.
Dh got a recording of him reciting poetry for us so we'll have his voice as well as pictures. Yesterday when we were down on the South Shore I enjoyed listening to Leone's thick, thick, accent as it reminded me of my childhood, sitting in a corner somewhere, listening to my daddy talk with the local men. Unc's accent is less than my dad's and both are citified compared to the locals who never moved away. But the lilt and some pronunciations still remain. And the local expressions.
On arrival home dh and I went out to Swiss Chalet for dinner except I had a burger because I really didn't want chicken. It was huge and I remember thinking I won't be able to eat half of this but I cleaned my plate and realized I probably wanted beef for the iron content to balance this endless TOM.
It's time for me to check email and then get unpacking. The lower main floor smells and I think it's another dead animal in the duct work. Sigh.... I've turned up the heat to dry it out faster.

Re: Motivated Monday
An "Important notice" envelope from the City was left in the house by my housesitter. Our garbage day is moving to Friday. I'm not sure I can manage this.
It is also going to every second week pickup for garbage, but weekly for kitchen waste and alternate weeks for cans/glass and paper/cardboard. Then an extra pickup is being put in there because of the change since we'd be going from October 22 (which we missed) until November 9 for garbage pickup (or in my case, Oct 15.) So we have to put something out on Friday and Saturday this week. I'm hoping our mail will include a new calendar.
I have to change my routines. Dh liked having all our weekend garbage go out but I don't think it will make a big difference. The difference is that I'll move my clean out fridge day from Sunday to Thursday. The whole reason I do my kitchen chores on Tuesday is that when I set my SHE system up 27 years ago, garbage day was Wednesday so had clean out the fridge and other kitchen chores on Tuesday.
I'd revamp my whole SHE system but I'm too old to make wholesale changes like that now. I wake up on Monday and start changing the sheets, not matter what. The only exception (and not always) is if Christmas Day falls on a Monday.
