Kathryn, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. It's really good that you got the recording and pictures.

I completely forgot to get pictures when DGD was here. Now I am kicking myself. I will never get these days back. Boo Hoo.

Oh, well, I have my memories.

I slept for a couple hours this afternoon. I got up, thinking I felt better, started puttering around and discovered I wasn't doing all that well, so I just put the leftovers on for dinner and sat. After a while I worked on a proposal DH wanted me to do, and I got that done. Emptied the dishwasher.

I still have lunches to make, but tomorrow I'll try to do more to catch up.

Glad it was a good trip, Kathryn. Smart and thoughtful of dh to record him reciting poetry so you can always have his voice.

Has dgd gone home, harmony?

I got the meal to dfriend late. I went to Hebrew - but only for the last 25 minutes. I'm glad I went, though. I always learn many things there. Dh liked the khatte chole (Indian hot and sour chick peas)! I ended up overestimating and made so much that we have enough for another 2 meals. :shock: So, I bagged up meal size portions and put them in the freezer to take out another day.

I've been dawdling on this machine. I looked again at race results, and dh was in the top 5% (4.5%) of all finishers for the half marathon! His age division was lower, though, around 10%, which means there are a lot of in shape men out there aged 45-49. He's already contemplating a new goal, to break 1:40. My best stat was the top 38% of women in my age division. I was just barely in the lower half of all finishers for the 5K.

I'm going to punt one of my goals to tomorrow: setting up the doodle for steering committee meeting.

Dh is in his workshop working on constructing the crate -- the crate for the laser that will hopefully be in the container that is being shipped Saturday to Africa for the team of medical Drs. our church is sending back to Africa. One of the MDs is an ophthalmologist, and the laser is presumably for laser eye surgery. The team is currently in language school in France; they spent 2 years in Kenya before this. I know I've mentioned them here before. The ophthalmologist and his wife were in our small group years ago. All the women were in our moms group last year during their furlough year here - and yes, one of them is among the MDs. The team will eventually not only be providing med. services but will also be working with a nearby University to train African doctors. Exciting stuff!!

Dd14 is practicing her oboe. Dd17 is off with the church youth group kids who go to tutor the kids at our inner city Detroit sister church on Monodays. I'm now going to relax with John Steinbeck for the rest of the evening.

Helia, my DD and DSiL came and took all their stuff and their daughter and their dog home. They left here about 10:30. The house is mighty empty and quiet right now.

LOL, Harmony, you say that like it's a bad thing! Enjoy your well deserved downtime and rest up! Did you ever start your thyroid prescription?

Best wishes on blood work Mr. Sunny and Dee.

Oh, pshaw, Harmony. Tell her family you want to be sure there is a photo of just the two of you at Thanksgiving or Christmas (maybe one including dh, too). Is there some spot in the house or some funny/unique item in the house that will remind the two of you of time together. Then pose there or take the item with you to hold together. When you get the hard copy (or 2) of the photo, write on the back right then a reminder of the dates you took care of her. TaDa.

helia, also congratulations to dh. How wonderful you all are participating in the eye-care work overseas.

Oh, I started out the day w/high hopes and much motivation... and I did manage to
* get lesson plans updated and posted in computer
* grade one set of papers -- trying to do at least one class period a day to get caught up
* go to Wmart w/dh & got groceries, etc, including "party" supplies for tomorrow night's pizza supper @ dmil's
* eat supper
Then I just totally ran out of steam and had to
* take a nap
before I
* signed and prepared cards ($, mostly) for ds, dsisil, and dcousin
* walked away the pounds 15 minutes
* watched the debate

Sooo many things that still need doing, but I think I will go to bed. Tomorrow will be a long day w/the bday party... and it sounds like there are going to be some "negotiations" between dh/dbil re: who is going to order their tickets for big game later this season. Dbil usually does it, but he is really dragging his feet right now and dh is getting VERY impatient.
Also, possibly some "negotiations" b/c we must tell ddil to be sure she is NOT depending on us to babysit the first weekend of Nov. We're going to have to go to college town that Friday night... ANOTHER 11:00 a.m. game... :roll: :evil:

However, on a positive note, ds told us that ddil would only be working until 11:00 pm this Friday, so that solves the problem of our sleep time vs drive time this weekend. :D

Thinking of you all... must sign off! Have a good night!
Tomorrow is another day.
