Truly Terrific Thursday

Hello Dear Ladies,

Dark cloudy day here, started to rain when I was out on my walk. Made it a twenty minutes walk as I didn't want to get my earpiece wet.

I'm feeling a bit more energetic these days.(I'm saying that in a whisper) The house looks a bit better this week and I even got to dust this week.

Grocery shopping tonight after work.

Who told me last night their dh was taking metformin? Does it affect the appetite?

Dee - it was me. Not sure about the appetite suppression aspect of the metformin. When DH started taking the med, we also started doing extreme low carb diet, so his appetite immediately took a big hit with the radical change in eating style.

Kathryn - you are a rock star! Ahead on your schedule?! BWTG to know what will fit and to follow through.

I dug up the smallest of existing flower bed and planted some daffodils and tulips in it this morning. I didn't make a dent in the # of bulbs I have on hand to plant this fall....but at least I am started. Baby step progress.

Next up -
** hang out at clothes closet. This is an off shoot effort of the trailer full of clothes that our church typically takes on site to those in need. We have rented a brick/mortar place and will see if anyone shows up.
** pick up LO from school
** go to Basketball game. This will be LO first time attending one. It will be interesting to see if it sparks an interest.

In the car line. Went to the store near home to get lottery tickets for the raffle basket (I knew they had a machine right near their exit) then headed across town to pick up the kids, stopping at grocery store near here to get gift card for the basket. Have been looking over this weekend's schedule in hopes of finding some uncommitted time.

I think I can get my volunteer time for the tournament tomorrow evening, while the girls are on an outing with dfriends; then, once I am through with scheduling on Saturday, I will have no further commitments that day. Unfortunately, the volunteers they need for Friday are off-site.

Car line starting to move; will post more when I get home.

OKay, Glad your available time slots are helping you. It sounds like they make you feel more in control, by being able to see what free time you have, so you're not just focusing on the filled in time slots, which can be overwhelming sometimes. Am I explaining myself right?

Lilac, Glad the businesses are picking up. The woman with ovarian cancer sounds like a nice lady and her PMA is so important. My MIL's 1st cousin has ovarian cancer for 4 1/2 years.

MysteryWoman, Wow! Lots of activities for you and yours! It makes me miss my kids living at home, all our activities and DH working! Now we're empty nesters with a cat. I enjoy reading posts with ladies with their children still at home. It brings back memories and memories of challenging days, too. But fun days!

MT, Your remodel sounds like so nice. It sounds like things will be pretty and well organized, too, perhaps giving you more storage space?

My Ta Da:
- I read my devotion, prayed, and wrote in my journal.
- I went to the dentist's office and ended up getting my night mouth guard re-lined.
- Sorted laundry, started 1 load.
- Got the printer ink cartridges receipt out for DH because our printer died and he had to go get a new one.
- Washed some coasters off.
- Set my dawn simulator, hung up a t-shirt, nightgown and got out a.m. clothes.
- Tidied the eating bar and a basket.

DH's hearing aid "broke" so he went to the audiologist's today. We thought he'd need a new one or something. But he just got home and said wax had gotten into it from his ear is all, so it's fine. He's setting up the wireless printer now, so I need to put the printer's CD in my laptop to get the wireless printer to work. I have workshop lessons, papers, lectures, etc... to print up from a writer's workshop I paid for, too, so this is another reason we couldn't hold off and go without a printer. I'm so relieved!

I was not having a very good afternoon. After trying to eat lunch (did eat some) I felt punkier & punkier. Finally laid down and snoozed somewhat. Felt really shaky & out of it by the time I got up. Took my BS and it was down. Guess I'm going to have to really watch it to do a balancing act. For the first time in months I had a small dish of ice cream and now feel much better. Been thinking that it's partly my flu shot (already?) kicking my butt.

Think I may have my next go-round with med co as I got a message asking me to transfer my pharmacy prescription to mail order. Supposedly Dr sent a prescription to W greens for 30 days and to med co for 90 days. It says it's the brand name for metformin (glumetza) and my insurance doesn't cover it very well. May have to call to see what actually did go through. Dr told me metformin and that's the generic. I'm confused to say the least.

Good ideas, Kathryn. Just have to figure out some numbers. I did try memorizing the numbers and directions to a made up song. Let's see how long THAT stays with me!

I had planned to get so much done today! Have 4 days left to get everything ready to go and to close down. DH does do a lot of it so I really can't complain. Don't know what I'd ever do without him.

I'm up from my nap now. And behind because I stayed down extra long. But I note the evening is quite light.

Dh helped finish the vacuuming for me so that really helped with my timing earlier, shaving 15 minutes off. I got the lower main floor done on my own but only did the carpet in the dining room and about 20'x10' of the hard floors on upper main floor before my back said NO! Yet mopping was OK (I won't say fine but pretty near fine.)

Everything is put back now. I should have a healthy snack because I'm hungry and sense I will start munching on anything in sight if I don't. I suggested dh go for an early dinner 15 minutes ago but he hasn't budged so I'll have to snack and then eat dinner. It is Chinese night for him so I'll probably just have chicken fingers and sweet potato fries with a salad.

My day has been busy. I was out of the house 8:30 - 4:05, and I didn't get paid for it. Actually, I was home for 25 minutes in the middle. Chili is made and simmering stovetop now. a.m. routine is not done. House has not been spiffed. Cornbread has not been made. Dfriends should be arriving in about 1.5 hours; actually, A will be arriving in 2 hours.

I am eating nonstop. I think I'm tense about dd17's conversation w/ counselor this afternoon (right now!) and the introduction of the idea of meds. . . . . I'm hoping and praying that conversation goes well.

I'm off to get ready.

Hi everyone! Cloudy here today from the Cat.2 hurricane Sandy in the Atlantic. Not worried about us getting any bad weather here, but concern is for dfam#3 in VA. Also we have dfriends living in Norfolk, dcousin and of course Scattered.

Dee ...I wanted to tell you that my dh is also taking Metformin, for quite a few years now. His is 1000 MG twice a day. He takes it after eating breakfast and after dinner. He has never had a bad reaction from it; it doesn't affect his appetite. The last A1C test was 6.2. Oh, the label on the bottle says Metformin is generic for Glucophage. Also, he gets his script through Publix free. Dr. sent the Rx from her office right to our nearest store by computer. That was 2 years ago. Script was renewed one year at a time. Hope this helps.

Nice to see posts from Mystery, Scattered again; and a check in from Nancy. Lilac... I was glad to hear that dd's Pottery Shop business is picking up. MT... your kitchen/bath renovations sound nice.

Goint to go ahead and post this...I've been interrupted several times (dinner, cleanup, ddogs dinner/etc. and etc. Will finish cuop in a while.

I have beer can chicken cooking on the grill. Just added cut up veggies and every thing should be done in 45 mins.

I haven't been without a headache, with the exeption of 2 days, for the past 3 weeks.'Sweetie took me to my dr.on tue. Got 2 shots and 2 scripts...1 for pregnison and 1500mgs of a strong anti-biotic. Spent days in bed or on the couch. Finally my ears have quit hurting and I am almost headache free.

Sweetie took me to Wally world today as our cubbard was more than bare. I have been sleeping in my other bedroom...actually staying ther most days with the humidifier going full blast. Sadie and Willis have taken turns keeping me company....a treat for them because they get to sleep on the bed.

I have no idea what Sweetie has been eating at night, but I sure have eaten lots of yogurt.

Need to check on dinner....my bed time has been at 8 for a while. Waving to y'all. With luck I'll be back tomorrow....

Home from volunteering @ clothes closet (huge attendance/wonderfully received), attending basketball game (loved it) and then checked on DParents and visited with them a while.

Just added potatoes, corn, green beans and diced tomatoes to the meat/broth that has been cooking slow all afternoon. Supper is going to be 1.5 hours late, but the soup looks and smells worth waiting for.

Got a call from lawyer. Things are starting to happen. We will meet with lawyer first part of next week. The newly assigned judge has set up a meeting with the 3 lawyers the first week of November.

Dee - DH has been taking metformin which cost a few dollars a month. At the last visit with his doctor, DH was given a sample of Glumetza to have on hand in case he ever ran out of metformin. Doctor said Glumetza was costly and wasn't covered by insurance. Doctor said Glumetza was coated metformin which made it slower release.
