Finally Friday

The "beast" is home - they had to give him some sedation for the ultrasound and his poor belly was partially shaved. Won't know much more until next week when the cytology report comes back - they just did a needle aspiration from the liver. He also has a bladder stone - I'm going to drop back off a urine sample to see if there's a low grade infection there. He will probably be sleeping once he finishes his big bowl of water. (For those wondering, for an 11 y/o dog who has had two big back leg surgeries he seems pretty healthy except for drinking a horrendous amount of water.)

Dee, when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, they put me on M etformin. It really messed up my tummy for a few days and then I adjusted to it. I still take it twice a day along with 4 insulin injections.

Dee, I also meant to tell you (thank goodness, Lilac reminded me!) that my dmom had trouble with metformin also, but I couldn't convince her to take it long enough to see if she got over it. She had one bout with "the runs" and that was it.

Dee, how will Sandy affect your travel?

DMacs is trying to settle down - doesn't quite want to sleep but doesn't know what else to do with himself apparently.

This round:
-fold two loads of laundry
-reboot laundry when ready
-water plants, indoors and out
-sweep as much dirt up as possible (floors are still nasty from backyard dirt tracked in)

I think we'll order or pick up pizza later....

How is it to hold the liquid under the tongue? Taste bad? good? Hard to hold it there for the ... what, 30 seconds?

I put it on top of tongue and it runs down to underneath tongue on its own. Holding in mouth is easy, I put dropper full in mouth when I turn coffee pot on and swallow before taking first sip of coffee (couple minutes?) The B12 liquid we take taste like cherry snow cone. Way too YUMMY to be left where LO could possibility get into it!

Argh! I drove 12 miles to deliver food and missed them. ***VBSigh*** Made phone call and will connect with them later. Frustrating but I totally understand why Friend's husband mind is spacing out because being under so much stress.

LO and I took today's left over snack cupcakes to DParents and shared with them and the hospice nurse.

15 minutes until time to put costume on LO and watch him turn into Spider Man!

Friday night gang trick or treating, OKay?

Laundry in washer almost done, haven't had a chance to reboot yet. That little bit work went a long way, tho. Dh will go out to pick up pizza later.

I am going to do some planning for tomorrow morning. I think that dh and I are going to drive to ATL tomorrow afternoon to go to IKEA and I'll need to get some stuff done in the a.m. I should do some measuring for bookcases upstairs in the bonus room for my crafty things and perhaps we'll pick those up.

Had that too, Twins, but think it might be 'over'. At least my tummy isn't rumbling and I feel tons better as of later today. Will keep taking it unless I have some really adverse side effects.

Dee, how will Sandy affect your travel?

Well, Sandy convinced us to try to get out of here on Tuesday. Hoping we can get out by early afternoon. Want to stop at a new restaurant for lunch. Even Lancaster has some snow predicted for Wednesday. I'll just call Tuesday morning to see if we can get another night at the same hotel down there. I may even call tomorrow -I know there's a 24-hour cancellation policy so I always could do that on Monday afternoon if needed.

One couple wanted dh to winterize their RV on Wednesday (real feel here is 17 that day). He told them Tuesday morning but after that they were on their own. Officially the campground is open through October 31st. People can stay that long, but they'll need to fill their holding tanks as water will be turned off Sunday night and the grounds will be 'blown out' throughout the day on Monday.

Went over to dd's MH and put some lights I bought dgks in wine type bags. Also wrapped dgs7's birthday present. Took that and their Christmas presents over to them (dh helped ds-R winterize his camper). Have ds-A's family sorted out to take to them tomorrow or Sunday. Gave ddil#1 several things from my fridge/freezer and a few other things. The rest I'll give to ddil#2 on Sunday.

Can't believe how much better I feel tonight. I'm also looking into the B-12. Think I read that it's good to take that with the metformin. I have the sublingual right now. Have to read more about the liquid.

I stopped this afternoon to talk to my mom. Both she and my brother will be in the eye of the storm. They live 13 miles across the bay south of NYC. My brother is 3 miles from the beach. The river that feeds into the ocean is 200 yards down his street. My mom is 10 miles inland. Both have brought food and water into their home. My mom is determined to ride this storm out at her complex. She is 20ft from the lake, but on the second floor. However the one side of her home is all glass and surrounded by huge trees. She tells me she is almost 85 and a big girl and has riden out more storms in her life than she can count. There are 900 hundred units in this complex and some have been around 50 yrs. In truth she won't really be alone and I know I would be saying and doing the same thing too. Sure she will have tales to tell.

Good Evening, Villager Ladies!

Just a "quickie" note here. Today DH and his friend went to the hardware store, to get tools for fixing our fireplace insert's damper, then went to celebrate DH's b-day (he turns 71 tomorrow!) and they went back to DH's friend's place to tool threads onto the damper. That's fixed! Then, DH went to the store for a few things and b-day cake.

While DH was gone, all I did was read my writing workshop lessons, I ate lunch in about 10 min., walked 30 min., but other than that SIX HOURS has been devoted to the workshop lessons. I'm so surprised! I didn't know my attention span was that long! I've been learning so much, I'm so happy I paid for the workshop, and the lady who wrote the lessons is wonderful.

I'm totally exhausted now, my cat is trying to catch a mouse, outside my small office, but there's no mouse there!

Friday night gang trick or treating, OKay?

Nope. We organized 6 of LO cousins to meet at a local casino. They were hosting a controlled carnival for the little ones. Free everything - food, games and gave away enough candy to keep the kids dentist financially flush this next year. The kids had a blast.

Two hour naps take a lot of time out of the day. Back is still fine, though, so... bonus!

We had pizza for dinner because neither of us felt like cooking (another downside to a late nap.)

I processed the mail, which included the info from SiriusXM about adding satellite radio to the car. It is only $15.99* per month, *14.99/month if you pay a year in advance. But the * is the deal killer. In fact, it is $17.65/month if you pay all at once because of taxes (13%) and another undefined fee.

Does any SHE have a satellite radio, and if so, can you let me know how much you pay?

I love the service, but we only pay $7/month all-in for Netflix and use it at least two hours a day. At most, we'd use the radio, on average, 30 minutes a day so I can't see spending 2.5 times as much for that. On the other hand, I'll miss the POTUS channel (my new favourite.)

Our free-trial subscription runs until Jan 12 and I'm sure once the election is over, I won't care about the satellite as much (since other programming I can approximate using FM stations or my mp3 player.)

Perhaps I'll engage it for a month when we go on long car trips. Then we'd stand a chance of getting our money's worth.
