And I echo her wishes for the day! I've walked the ddogs (40 degrees here and very windy!) and need to do a little planning, a little clean up, and into the shower.

I'm up and going. I stepped on the scale expecting to see a loss ****VBSIgh**** but was doubly disappointed to see a 2 lb gain! Arggghh! I have almost undone all my weight loss from last year. Guess I'd better report in to the H&F thread and start hanging out there.

After taking LO to school we will go met with lawyer. The new judge wants a status report from everyone involved.

Thinking of those affected by the storm. ((((Hugs))))

Oh my goodness. My mind has turned to mush. I completely forgot writing for the temple bulletin last night.

I have a schedule so in theory I know what today will hold but conflicting weather forecasts have us in a quandary.

Dh has to be at the border crossing, 2 hours from here, at 8:30 tomorrow morning. They are calling for 50 mph winds overnight and tomorrow on one weather service (which is blared on the radio.) The, IMHO more accurate, Weather Underground is predicting winds of 25 mph. The first forecast has us tempted to miss choir, head down to the Seaway before supper and hunker down in a motel there cutting our drive to about 20 minutes in the morning. Dh has a conference call tonight but that can be handled over the internet, he doesn't need anything more than his computer (this is the first of the weekly calls he'll be chairing from now on due to the resignation of our friend in Upstate NY.)

The downside to that plan is the car would be outside in the storm's wind (and if the power is lost, there won't be internet while we'll still have it here because of the generator.)

The alternative is to believe Weather Underground, stay here, take off early in the morning and hope for the best. That means we are here if power goes out overnight (mainly to shut off the generator if the power goes out so it doesn't bother the neighbours while sleeping.) And the car will be safe in our garage. The downside is that we'll have a horrid drive in both directions, one way in the dark, whereas if we leave this afternoon we will only have a rough drive back and that will be in daylight hours.

Rescheduling is not an option (we've waited 3 months for this appointment and the next one is 3 months hence.)

So I sort of have to plan my day for a late afternoon drive. Either way, coincidentally, our meal plan remains the same since Fish and Chips is scheduled for tonight!

I'm up. Was in bed at 10:40, lights out before 11 after reading a chapter of a book recommended by my senior friend, The Walk. I can see that this is a bad book to read before bed as I cried for a while after. Finally got up and had some water, put eucalyptus oil to decongest me, and went back to be listening to some boring story from The Economist. Woke up with a reasonable amount of energy and am on the treadmill now.

Good morning! We are on the chillier side today, and skies are gray. I am up and drinking tea, have checked email and gone through a couple of piles from the boxes dh took down from the attic. I have done NO Hebrew prep for tonight, so today will be all about Hebrew translation. I don't like that it has ended up this way -- but it has. I had more going on last week than I had anticipated. I also need to call the pedi. dentist. I rescheduled dd17's appt. from a couple weeks ago to this Wednesday b/c of an econ. test. Now, she says she has a math test right during the new appt. time. . .

OK, maybe the 2 lbs. is a fluctuation as Harriet suggested to me last week. In fact, after my 2.3 lb. gain Friday at WW, I lost 1.5 lbs. on my scale the next morning -- and another pound the next.

Off to get the day going.

Finished what I needed to write for temple bulletin, and emailed off. Now I need to get ready for work, and I haven't done much planning for the week. Why, oh why don't I do it on Sunday? (well, yesterday because we were away, and then I needed a nap and then....and .....and .....)

It is dark and a bit wet (but not too wet, when I was watching there was a group of four people standing on the sidewalk having a conversation when they could have been doing so under an awning so obviously not raining hard if at all) and not windy (there's a flag pole to keep an eye on.)

Which makes sense since the storm center is still 16 hours away and won't be directly hitting NYC at all according to the latest tracking from NOAA.

I'm done exercising and s2s. Have unloaded the dishwasher and have had my tea. Did 4/5 of the scratch and win tickets I got for Christmas. Just one to go which I'll do during lunch. Then those can be taken off my to-do pile!

I was up/awake for nearly 3 hours again last night. Was still awake when dh got up about 5am. Decided to veg out for a while and fell asleep, awaking shortly after 8. I'm showered -not dressed. Tested BS -78 and have had meds and breakfast. Now to get moving.

It is VERY dark out -shades of things to come. Right now it's not windy but it's expected to escalate this afternoon. DH turned the water off to the campground last night about 9, but was running back and forth doing things that had to be done after that event. I think they've started the big compressors to blow out the water lines. That will take them most of the day. He just stopped by all in rain gear. What a miserable day for doing this but it can't be helped. At least perhaps they'll get it done before the wind gets too bad.

Hope your decision(s) can be made for you, Kathryn. Know here they're expecting 15' waves onshore (Lake Ontario) and 22' on the lake. Lots of beach flooding/erosion.

DH is trying some 'new' things to try to hasten this process of getting all the water out of the lines. The lines aren't buried deep enough but what they would freeze. So, it's a yearly effort to turn off and turn on. Used to take 2 days to get it all shut down, but (thanks to some ingenuity from dh) now it usually takes a day.

Imagine we'll just 'hunker' down tomorrow too, Kathryn. Called to cancel our room for tomorrow night in Lancaster so that's all taken care of.

Went to DS-A's and we all made our own pizza. It was really quite good! DGS was a pure delight all evening. He was so energized with all of us around! At the end he fell asleep in Grandpa's lap. What neat pictures those were!

Had to put the brakes on hard last night for a big buck crossing our path when we were almost home. That sure would have put a damper on our trip! Don't usually travel very fast through these areas after dark any way, but they come out of nowhere sometimes!

On my way to check the mail one last time, fill up with gas, deposit checks and go to the apple farm for some to take south. Figure about an hour and a half.

Good Morning Villagers
Praying for those in the path of Sandy.
It has been a few weeks since I have posted.It is hard to face reality sometimes, especially when children are involved.
My husband and I have had a rocky marriage for the past 15 months, I have tried to be upbeat and prayed that things would work out
and at times in those 15 months it looked like he was willing to work on improving things,but I came to realize that those times were just fleeting moments and I cannot live on that roller coaster, I cannot have my beautiful daughters live on that roller coaster.
We have seperated, and I am filing for divorce. I was fortunate to quickly find a decent paying job, and pray every nite that when all papers are signed,i are dotted, and t's crossed,the girls and I will be able to begin to enjoy life again.
Thanks for letting me move into your little village for the short period that it was, you are a wonderful group, even if you dont use L^%ts

Prayers for all to be safe.
Last night I stayed up late and today was off as a result.
included some yard work and caught up on dishes again tonight.

Quote from radio today - we don't have snow storms with our cyclones here.
btw- last years addition was still a cyclone way way inland, and caused significant flooding into the northern terrority (It came in over Qld in a place where houses were only just rebuilt from previos demolition cyclone. .) The storm surge left only the concrete slabs of many homes. Some never recovered anything as it had washed into crocodile territory esturaries.

There really was serious dislocation of everything. cell phone towers were out once the generators ran out of fuel. Power lines needed complete rebuilds. Roads were totally blocked by fallen trees if not by flooding. Yep we'd had floods just prior to that so all the rain was excess.
I think Sandy's size says respect it - even if it isn't the most intense storm to hit.

Kathryn - maybe a call closer to the time to see if folk for DH appointment can be there. They may call it off depending on what is going on.
