Dee: don't give up hope yet on getting a refund. Is there any chance you bought the tickets on a credit card with travel insurance? If so, because you couldn't travel there, the insurance might pay up. Follow the situation there closely - if there is no power in the town, the show might be cancelled, in which case you'll qualify for a refund even if you didn't actually make it to the town.
The rain started here around 7 and it is definitely very windy here. Not house-shuddering windy but breezy.
Choir went ok, not great. I'm so bad at this and right now I don't need a constant reminder of the things I can't do. But Christmas is coming so I need to go in order to practice the pieces for that. Tonight we went over the first but dh and I had to leave only 40 minutes into practice. He's now moved the weekly call to Tuesday night so that means we'll be able to stay for choir practice.
I cleaned up the kitchen and processed the mail when I got back. Also watched the last episode of Season 1 of the new Upstairs Downstairs. Need to find out where to find the other Seasons since Netflix doesn't have them. Also need to find out if I'll get to see Season 1 of Downton Abbey before Season 2 starts on repeats in December on PBS before they start showing Season 3. (Just checked and I'm #101 holding for one of 45 copies, with each copy able to be out for 3 weeks so I may not get it in time.)
Dh's call is over so now we are off to bed. Out of here between 6 and 6:30 which means a 5:15 - 5:30 wake up call.

Re: Magnificent and Safe Monday
Think we have about 40mph sustained winds right now. RV rocking a little. They just announced about 20 minutes ago that they have started evacuations along the Lake Ontario shore -at least for this county -about 2,500 -but I'm not sure if that's people or houses.
Poor dh is exhausted. Sure he'll really feel it tomorrow. Would sure help if the weather would relent -but our situation here is so much better than along the Atlantic shore & inland.
Kathryn, good travels to you in the morning. Hope to be able to check in tomorrow before the net is turned off. I can check in from my phone -at least somewhat. But as many of you have said, I find it more difficult to post from my Iphone.
We're watching DWTS but I'm getting so sleepy. Not sure how the rest of the night will go. If the storm is no worse than right now (here) we'll be ok for the night. I have packed a very few things in case we decide we need to vacate. We'd have to go about 10 miles to the fire hall. Of course dh is also a member of the fire dept about 3 1/2 miles from us. Not sure he can get in there however. If it's manned tonight, it would be no problem.

Re: Magnificent and Safe Monday
Hi everyone! I have eaten dinner and paid bills, all 12 of them! I also updated Quicken, but have not balanced the checkbook. I cooked lunch for tomorrow and the next day, only to get a call that DD10 is sick and I will need to stay home with her. She will miss the girl scout trunk or treat. I hope she will be able to do the regular trick or treating on Wed. I applied for some jobs today, I wish someone would at least give me a callback. I think I am throwing resumes into the void. So discouraging.
I am determined to go to bed early tonight, I am so tired. It is only 8:30, but I think I will do basic cat care and sleep. Balancing checkbook can wait until tomorrow. I am going to sleep late tomorrow too.

(((ALL our East Coast SHE's)))
(((Bernice))) I am sooo sorry you've been going through such a rough time, and I do hope things smooth out now that you've finally started action... but please do come back as often as possible to check in with us and let us know how you are! And remember -- lists are FINE!!! I could not function without my lists!!!
In light of all that is going on with the weather and all, our little drama is teeny teeny tiny here. But this is it:
DGS went back to doctor today for 4 month check up, and doctor just really made ds & ddil feel terrible for feeding him too much! He's still in 3-6 month clothes, weighed 14 pounds, I think, and he just gobbles up an 8-oz bottle every 2-3 hours. (But sleeps through the night and is generally very happy in between feedings.)
Doctor said -- if I am quoting ds correctly -- that he should only be having about 4 oz formula at a time. That the reason he spits up so much is b/c he is eating too much. (But if he screams when you take the bottle away, what are you supposed to do???)
ALSO, doctor said nothing but formula & rice ceral until he is 6 months old.
That just seems ridiculous to dh & me, and the great-grandparents, and it is going to be a LONG 2 more months if that is the case... * sheesh *
Ddil is just about ready to find a new pediatrician.
Good gracious.
When did your grandbabies start eating "real" (baby) food? I think ds started at 2 months, but of course, that was many moons ago. * sigh *
Oh -- and open house was cancelled/postponed @ 8:00 a.m. this morning. Can we say: Flying by the Seat of Our Pants.

Re: Magnificent and Safe Monday
I hear you Lucyl. maybe mix the formula weaker? I was frustrated at how they think it's the way to feed babies now a days when dgd was young it was an eye opener when dd said only rice cereal until 6 mo. old. So many kids have allergies these days that I think they try to head off the probs. with the limited foods for babies.
Got the dish washer ran through and unloaded those.
Rest of the trash is ready to go out now.
