Re: Saturday Swing
I woke up early this morning so got an early start on weekend routine. Sweeping, mopping and swishing done yesterday; this morning I got the bed changed, sheets and towels in washer, kitchen counters cleaned and baking stuff put away. I think we're done for a while! Dining room table is cleaned off and set up. All I need to do is run a duster over the flat surfaces then I'll be done.
Ds#1 called to say they can't make it today, the brakes on their truck need changing and he didn't want to drive too far before he changes them tomorrow. So we're going out to see them this afternoon.
I'm going to get a bite of lunch then head for the shower and change clothes then I'll be ready to go.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Re: Saturday Swing
Dh is folding clothes on the bed so I can't make it up right now.
He doesn't start something like this until he feels guilty because I'm working, then he gets in my way.
This round is some errands:
-Goodwill
-drugstore
-cleaners
-take the car through a car wash.
Beautiful day here!

Re: Saturday Swing
Quick update about my home town...
Facebook has proven to be invaluable. Pages specific to each town has been set up. Sea brights fire dept. Asked for specific supplies like 10 cots and within 20 min. Someone posted he had his truck load with them and was on his way. Stores that are now open post on this indepent pages that they are open and handing out free food and coffee. A central receiving area has been set up and not only locals, but people like myself who live all over the country are sending supplies like blankets, new cloths, socks, underware and t-shirts.
Some individuals are making samdwhiches and such and delivering them to areas that haven't had help yet or can't get to.
It is an amazing thing to watch...no one is waiting for the govt to help. It is just people helping people and what the foundation of our country was built on. Nurse in new Orleans are spend scrubs to the hospital to pay it forward. I so proud of everyone.

Re: Saturday Swing
Good Morning, Villagers! Saturday Swing is a good one for today! I loved the Glen Miller Band music, too, and remember the movie about him starring Jimmy Stewart.
To Do:
Coffee
Finish crocheting 18-mo.-old grson's Christmas afghan.
Possibly laundry, if I'm up to it and if DH helps.
Tidy up the bed.
I let our adult kids know about the biopsy, although results aren't in for several days. Just woke this morning with a "feeling" if it was my parent going through this, I'd like to have been told before the results come back. They can pray, too.
DH is watching college football, I'm crocheting, and we're slow to get going around here.
We both woke up several times during the night.
We didn't sleep well.
I'm missing Dee's posts. I know she might still be traveling, too.
Sunny, You sound so energetic. Sorry Ds#1 can't make it today because of the brakes on their truck, but better to get them repaired and be safe. Enjoy visiting them this afternoon.
Scattered, You're on a roll with that laundry!
Have a GR8 day!
Nancy, Good luck on your kitchen patrol or kitchen control. It's hard to keep things up 100% of the time! Have a Gr8 day, too!
Twins' Mom, It sounds like you're getting a good start to your day. Enjoy your Saturday Swing!
You're getting a lot done!
Cowinkie, Good morning! It's good you got the footprints gone. We used to have dogs, too, so know how that goes. What is your "magic potion". I've GOT to get the secret from you!
It sounds like something that gives out energy!
It's good that people are making sandwiches, etc.... and people are pulling together, too.
Lynlee, I love your name. It's so pretty!
Did you get to your bbr right away? Oh, Marley and Me is such a good movie!
I loved it! You've been so productive, too!
CathyS, I woke up on and off all night and I was also trying to think up an "S" word about 6:30 a.m., but went back to sleep! You have a full day ahead of you! Sorry about your Ott lite. I'm glad he has a 50% off coupon! That's super!
Kathryn, Do you write a schedule for every single day?
Your Ds sounds busy! Good luck on working outdoors and getting your laundry done, too.
I have not written a to do list since last Wed. night because I'm busy following the oral surgeon's instructions and am resting and crocheting. I think, after my shower today, I'll buckle down and write a to do list and look at my index cards household organizer. I keep telling myself that my oral pathologist said he didn't think this was cancer, but if it was, it probably only had a few cancer cells and we're catching it early. I'm also thinking I have a 50%/50% chance that it "might" be. So I'm not stressing out nor am crying; just am praying and crocheting. But today I'll get a to do list written, since I'm feeling a bit better, stronger, and more like myself, and I'll tackle the laundry with DH's help. He said he'd help me sort it.
Have a Super Saturday Swing, Everybody!

Re: Saturday Swing
I'm exhausted now and sore. We got the front and side yards raked and part of the back yard rakes. Unfortunately, this wasn't my highest priority (and ds promised to rake with us tomorrow.) I also got the last of the gardens roughly weeded and ready for winter. And we washed the three picture windows. All three are on the upper part of the main floor so need to be done with the Windex outdoor window cleaner attached to the hose which meant hauling out the house again (we had put it away for winter.) The remaining windows can be cleaned by hand and I'll do those tomorrow. Dh did reroute the downspouts (in summer they dump into a trough that runs along the back of the garden so the gardens under the eaves will get watered but in the winter they have to be redirected away from the house.)
Two loads of laundry are done. One more load to do today and another tomorrow after church (if the sun shines so I can dry that load outside.)
I've s2s and had lunch at 2. Now I need to either nap or run errands. I'm leaning towards napping except that getting the errands done now would get them off my mind.

Re: Saturday Swing
Back from errands, Moses got to ride along with me.
Dneighbor across the street invited us to come by this evening for her dh's birthday party - it's a 'Nascar Redneck" party so I stopped off at the dollar store for two candle holder bases to glue to the bottom of mason jars for "redneck wine glasses" for a gag gift.
I need to get busy again but have lost my momentum. Will break until 3:15 and watch tv and read a bit, then work a 45 minute shift to the TOTH.

Back from errands. Will hit my bed now.
Just heard from our friend in lower Manhattan - she got power back at 4 a.m. yesterday and was surprised how quickly things returned to normal once that happened. She's lucky, she's only on the 8th floor of her building so only 8 flights to walk (plus a mile uptown to get cell service.)

Re: Saturday Swing
I am having a wonderful relaxed day. I haven't left the house all day and have been leisurely working through the cards. DH has been in/out several times. He deserves a medal. DH had just arrived home and sat down to watch his favorite football team play when DGS15 called to see if he could get a ride. I said no....I'm not driving 60 miles just to give you and some friends a ride to the mall. However, a long time ago DH had told DGS15 if he ever couldn't get hold of his dad and needed a ride to call him, so DGS15 did. I think DH meant something different ....like an emergency....however DGS15 took DH words literally.
So instead of watching his favorite football team play, DH drove 60 miles in order to take DGS15 6 miles to the mall. DH is MUCH nicer than me.

Re: Saturday Swing
I had a deep 90 minute sleep. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight.
Dinner was a success and I don't feel guilty for making dh make it since all he had to do was heat it up. Ds was napping when I woke up so I had to wake him up for dinner.
He's back in the spare bedroom now but he might be studying.
I got the squares tested (dh tried them for me) and then cut them and put them in a container for tomorrow. The kitchen is all tidied up and the dishwasher is running on rinse-hold since dinner involved mashed potatoes but there weren't enough to run a load tonight.
Dh and I worked on the anthem for tomorrow and I worked through one of the Christmas anthems.
I still have to work on Sunday school class.
