If you are in a part of North America that observes Daylight Savings Time, it is an hour earlier than it was the same sun-time yesterday. Are your clocks OK?

We are up and going a bit early for a Sunday because of the scheduled power outage.

There are some funny quirks in our automatic system, not everything in the kitchen is up and we need the microwave to make dh's breakfast, so we got up to have that first.

The generator powers the water pump, sump pump, furnace pump and fan as the basics of the house. Then it also supplies power to the bathrooms (2 don't have windows), the garage (so the door opens) and the 'new' parts of the house (we added to the house years ago and that meant adding a second electrical panel which is powered by the generator.) So half the kitchen, including lights and fridge, gets power, as does the office and the freezer.

We basically 'live' in the office, kitchen and family room attached to the kitchen so the fact that most of the basement, the living room, front hall and bedrooms don't have power isn't an issue. We can run an extension cord from the bathrooms to the bedrooms and living room if we do need lights in those rooms but most of the time we just switch to the part of the house with power and take candles or flashlights when we go to bed. We keep flashlights by the bed in case the power goes out at night.

The generator start automatically and runs off natural gas so we don't have to do anything (that's so the house won't freeze if we are away for a month and the power goes off in February for a day or two.) We'll manually turn it off when we are done with electricity this morning so it won't disturb the neighbours while we are at church.

my house was pretty clean and then poof (not the sweet disney movie ***poof~***; it is more of the evil witch sending surface clutter with many dishes all over my house. I can see the hours of work ahead. this morning I am making meals for dd older to take to school - she made a bunch of different meals and I will make some regular dinners. ie. pot roast etc.as she likes it

Headed out to pick up dd's friend for SS.

Load of laundry in washer for my ddad will require atten later.

HRH is in the midst of a gout attack - the first in, perhaps... .. years? Will have to check that out. He knows, in theory, what he mistakenly did. Sugars and proteins had probably made up too-great percentages in his diet for a couple days.

His ddad Joe was able to visit here yesterday, so that was good news.

blessed, meals for school sound thrifty. Is dd traveling each day or is she living near the college/univ and taking several meals to her own fridge?

Good morning Dear Harriet! So sorry your dh is in pain!!! Fast healing and comfort to him.

dd came home from school for the weekend and wanted to make meals to take with that she can just pop in the microwave. She has not been home for 7 weeks and I am loving every minute of having her home.

I have done some of my planning but now have to face my over goaling from yesterday re: Creating wonderful meals for dd and her friends at school You know what over goaling does - having enough food to cook for 30 people and not doing it yesterday. which means I have to work especially hard this morning. I dislike when I do that. I haven't for a while and I thought I had it licked... now for work

So off to put the crock pot on for her pot roast.

Hello Dear Ladies,

It's sunny but chilly here. Temp is in the 40's outside. 67 inside. I put on a hoodie instead of starting up the heat.

Enjoyed the extra hour of sleep. I was very tired last night. Unpacked new winter clothes all day yesterday at work.

Tried calling Dsister-inlaw this morning but she didn't answer. DH said she has been going to urgent care for several days for some problems. Praying for her and her Dson who is mentally disabled and lives with her.

Going to enjoy a cup of coffee and then get ready for work.

Well, that is sort of what I thought I remembered, blessed, but then wondered if she was living closer to home than that. Happy for you having a weekend together.

I'm back from SS run and went to my ddad's house to find some long underwear I had stored away there for him. Found out there that we seem to have a heating problem, sigh. House is set on 65, but heated only up to 59 even after a warm day yesterday, so this may be dollars. I don't know if dd32 had any problems over last weekend with it - she didn't mention any. With HRH hurting so much to walk right now I don't know who he will want to call to help him look at it. Poor dstepson is weary and I don't want to bother him right now.

Guess who I saw on the way to my ddad's? 3 raccoons. At least one a baby-size. (I'm thinking all young, with one a runt of the litter, perhaps.) The larger 2 went off and left the baby - I hope he finds them. They were tussling about in leaves and I thought I was seeing especially bushy squirrel tails!

Kathryn - I too am curious about your planned power outages?

Blessed - Wow what a great DMom you are, I need to start doing more freezer cooking for around here, especially since I now get home around 8 pm and occasionally at midnight.

Harriet - My DGpa swears by raw cherries to ease his gout. He'll eat 10-15 of them on days that his gout is acting up. Hope HRH feels better soon.

Okay so I ended up getting up around 9:30 rather than 9 am but it is still better. Now I need to figure out what to do with my 1.5 hours before I need to leave. Need to look at the meal plan... lol actually need to make one. I also should try putting at least 1 hamper of my laundry away and need to flip Bert & Ernie.
