Monday Musings

I went looking for quotes this morning and this one struck me as being appropriate for the upcoming week. Praying for all those still digging out from Sandy and now preparing for the Nor'easter headed their way.

Honey, I'm "home". Not even going to try to cuop yet today. We left the north last Wednesday at 11a.m. Arrived at dd's about noon yesterday. We really saw very little damage from Sandy on our trip. I have been unable to get online -except via my iphone but that gets hard to read and post.

Taking gd14 to school in about 15 minutes. Will be trying to not have her and her dsil doing the mornings with the 2 of them (for the most part). DSIL is now without a job and I do believe things will certainly be different here this winter.

Meeting dbil/dsil for breakfast about 9a.m. Have to stop at the post office to mail a package for dd on our way.

DH had another 'episode' on Friday. He was quite sick for several hours. Have to let his Dr know this week that he's had 'another one'. Then I was sick on Saturday for about 2 hours. Have no idea what hit me -just knew I couldn't drive and needed to lie down. DH drove about 100 miles and that was it. AFter that I was fine. ???? :?:

DSIL is getting ready to go for physical therapy. So this works out well this morning. Have to look at a church calendar because I think I might have a meeting this week. If I can't find a calendar I'll have to call a friend. I'm LOVE Gift chairman this year so I guess I need to be there.

Will be back later this afternoon to try to catch up a little. You've all been on my mind a lot this week. Thinking of anyone in Sandy's path and those in the coming storm.

Good Morning!

scattered - Thanks for the great start.

YEAH!! Dee is back!

I'm running about 30 minutes behind schedule but I have some padding built in so I will eventually catch back up if I just keep doing the next card. :)

This week has NINE medical visits. Three of them are today.
** LO hearing test
** LO to ENT doctor for pre-op appt
** LO to surgery center for pre-op & checkin......including a most dreaded blood draw. I'm the one dreading it, he doesn't know about it yet.
Those visits will take up 5-6 hours out of the center of the day. Hopefully LO will handle it okay and we can do some fun stuff afterwards.

WooHoo Dee is home!

OKay - what is LO having surgery for? I missed it somewhere.

I had planned to get up at 7:30 - 8:00 this morning but my allergies kicked in at 6:00  I got up and took my med then laid down with my book and had planned to go back to sleep till 8 am, but I ended up just getting up when I finished the book ~ 6:30. Still sniffling and may have to take a sudafed. I want to get a bunch done today as I have to work a 16 hr shift tomorrow.

I did manage to get my bed cleared off and the clothes actually put away, now I only have 1 hamper left to empty. Need to figure out my PODA, right now I have so many things running through my head that I can't concentrate.

Thank you for starting us out, scattered. Nice quote. Yes, still thinking of the people affected by Sandy. Another storm is out there?

Nice to see you, Dee!

Wow, 3 medical appt. today, OK, and 9 this week! I cannot complain when I have 3 in one week.

The weekend was quite busy; I couldn't get here. Nothing unusual, just the regular -- trying to catch up a bit (laundry, emails, going through my stuff in the boxes from the attic. I still haven't gotten to my overgrown shrubberies), small group Saturday. Sunday was also regular - church and then out to eat downtown with R. I did take a nice nap Sunday afternoon. In fact, I slept a lot this weekend. Another form of catching up. Ds came over last night, as did S and R. We ate together and then watched Up together in honor of dd17 and friends' costumes. I had forgotten what a nice movie that is!

This week, I am NOT making a meal for a new mom and I am NOT teaching or preparing anything for church moms group. :) AM helping to fit the hs band students into their concert uniforms (tuxes and evening dresses) for 3 hours on Wed. and then again for 2 hours on Thursday. I am preparing and running the moms group steering comm. meeting on Friday -- I may be hosting it too. On Thursday, I am hosting S and R's friend from Cali. along with our regular Thursday dinner crew. Since I don't know him, I will want to spend a little extra time making sure the house is neat and clean. I am quite low-key with the close friends that comprise the reg. Thursday crew.

Today:
-dh wants to meet up for coffee; would be good to catch up, but I have a lot to do today
-groc. store? I have no idea what is for supper tonight
-lots of hebrew; despite great intentions, it is Monday again and I have done very little translation work
-Heb. class at 5:15
-laundry; dd14 is running out of socks

The girls are off. Dh is still sleeping; he was up until wee hours this morning working. I'm working on a mug of tea.

Dd17 is starting her meds today, so I hope we are nearing the end of the transition to our "new normal." That has been an emotionally draining process for me. She is in a better spot and generally doing well, so that is good.

I'm off to s2s and get this day going. Maybe we should turn back our clocks? THey're still on old time.

Helia - It is great to see you & I hope you find time for a cuppa with DH soon, it's important!

I have perused the P&P site and the Flylady site, and discovered that the Zone for the week is the Kitchen which works perfectly for me and goes along with several of the Todo's running through my head. Let me see if I can get a PODA together and then get going. Going to also find my timer for some 15 minute grooves.

ToDo->Tada
:D d2s
 Coffee
:D Check Email
kick start Bert & Ernie W() D() F() P/A()
strip bed
Flip Bed
Load & Run Agnes
Clean Fridge
Inventory Freezer
Fly High in Kitchen
Work on meal plan
NROWS
EVAL
Misc USN pc items

I could go on & on but I would like to see what I can get done by Noon. Gonna finish this cuppa then I will head up stairs to strip bed.

Thanks for opening scattered.

Have you ever noticed that if there is a destructive weather situation such as Sandy, it seems like within a week here comes more bad weather to complicate matters? It seems to be a pattern that repeats itself.

lucylee, our dsonil comes from a large C atholic family. But they were not married in a C atholic church. Dd2 needed to get her first marriage annulled so that their marriage could be blessed. She went thru the process and I among others had to fill out pages of questions and write a lot of details about her first marriage. It was immediately annulled. The ball was then in dsonils court. He has never started the process to have it blessed. Every year on their anniversary they get a card, a large check and a written piece of his dms mind. She always says that she hoped by now that they would have their marriage blessed and first dgd3 and now both dgds christened but I actually think it's a different word, which escapes my feeble mind. I am not sure why dsonil has not done anything other than the fact that he doesn't go to mass at all. Dd2 told him she would attend with him but she has no intention of joining the C atholic church. He had agreed to then attend church with her, too. Since he is a farmer/rancher he works 7 days a week. Dd2 then has to take the kids by herself to church. Dsonil is the youngest child of this large family. His mother pressured him to become a priest because his oldest sister is a nun. Dd2s birthday is 9 days before their anniversary and she never gets a card and $ from her inlaws, like everyone else does. Dd2 gets tired of being blamed for the lack of their marriage being blessed. Her inlaws are elderly so she just deals with it. Some of the other siblings have left the church and joined other churches. I always wonder if it is because she has always rammed it down their throats and as adults, they can change religions if they want to. lucylee, I guess the whole point of telling you all this is so maybe your dh can understand that the more he pushes for what he wants, the more your ds and ddil might resist. Having 2 dds, I always try to think of how I would feel if someone was trying to tell me what to do. I feel like we can think what ever we want, but some things are just better left unsaid. If your dh pushes too hard, he needs to understand that they could decide to just move closer to her family, since your ds is away so much. He really needs to pick his battles or he won't have any battles to fight. lucylee, I hesitate to even post this but I am concerned for you. You only have 1 ds, 1 ddil and 1 dgs, so your dh needs to realize he can't control them. I have known of ddils that decide they are done with their inlaws and their husbands go along with it. It happened in my own family. My dcousin who just lost his son was estranged from his family for over 11 years until his ds was killed last week. His late wife got into a fight with one of his sisters. They left town that day and moved back to her families area. She died over 8 years ago and he has since remarried, but he felt like he owed it to her to continue the estrangement. Only after he lost his son did he realize how much he needs his family back in his life. lucylee I hope you realize that I really care about you and don't want you to miss out on watching your dgs grow up, just because the kids want to do things their way and not your dhs.

Dh will be home tomorrow. I have accomplished very little. Today I need to color my hair and clean, so better get with it.

Quick post from my office. Busy week here also - meetings or luncheons today, tomorrow and Wednesday, Dr appt for dmom on Thurs and closing on old house on Friday. I'm working M, TU and TH. I'm rescheduling the Exec comm meeting that was supposed to be tomorrow night, and later in the week need to schedule a meeting with the rabbi for contract talks.

My mind is so scattered right now - temple, (probably a dozen different pressing to dos there) work, home (cleaning lady today and I forgot to leave a note for her, I hope I left the front door unlocked!) dd home tomorrow to vote and hopefully I get to see her. This morning I went through the MCD drive through, paid for my breakfast, and then drove past the pick up window and started to turn out into the road, before I realized I had forgotten to get the food.

I'm going to mix up an iced coffee and get down to work.

Twin's: my mind is scattered too. I've started a list of writing tasks and am keeping it by the computer. It is long and I've already burned through 30 minutes of my writing time, getting settled in a new spot in the house in the hopes it will help me focus.

You may not see much of me today.
