Thankful Thursday

I realize Thanksgiving (here in the US) is just a couple of weeks away, but I am very Thankful for all my DFriends here in the village. Thank you all for your love and support (see my post in MO). I am also thankful that with your love and support I am finally starting to get my house in order.

I got a LOL folded last night and packed my lunch, I set up JJ (Java Joe) although the clock was set wrong so no coffee ready when I got up.

Need to run take a shower and get out of here to work.

I, too, am very thankful for our little home on the web!

Have to take gd14 to school shortly. Think I heard the hair dryer running (and running & running) so assume she's getting ready.

DH has to take dsil for a shot in his back this morning. DSIL gets extremely 'loopy' after this shot and is unable to drive. Tonight we'll meet dd at her school for "Blake's Got Talent". It's always a fun evening. Tomorrow we have "Thanksgiving" lunch with gd at her school. Yesterday dh went to a nearby flea market (in Plant City) with his DB. We've had something every day since we got here.

I really love dd's attitude about 'things'. They've always done well financially and now they're at a 'bump in the road'. She says, "We can live on 1 income -just not mine". Which is now the case. DSIL will be getting long term disability eventually at 60% of his pay. They have eliminated his job so he's essentially "fired", but he can collect better on disability than unemployment. He is truly disabled and is really hoping to get better so he can get out and search the job market. He has skills and is quite employable, just not right now. DD had mentioned she makes enough to pay the bills, but there's nothing left for groceries. She still is very upbeat and knows we will be helping as much as we can.

Time to 'push' GD a little so we can get out the door. BBL. I have to get the council minutes proofed and sent off TODAY!

Very busy day for me. Meeting w rabbi this morning re: his contract, need to get dmom to a dr appointment today, and working otherwise today.

I hadn't remembered when I got up this morning about the appt for dmom, and I kept having a nagging feeling there was something else. This has felt like a pretty stressful week altogether and I'll be glad to get through tomorrow's closing.

I can't believe I'm ready to leave early this morning - usually I'm flying out the door at right at 8 a.m. and now need to stall a little because others are meeting us at temple for the meeting.

Lovely title, scattered. I think I've missed your post in MO. I stick here pretty closely but once in a while someone here reminds me that I need to check out some of the other threads.

I am thankful for this village too! I am also thankful for the women in the church moms group, another loving, supportive, honest (nobody there pretends to have it all together/have all the answers) group of women.

Sounds like your dd is a hard worker, fiscally responsible, and not a whiner, Dee! That is something to be thankful for too!

((Twins)) the week is almost over. I'd missed your closing tomorrow. Tomorrow is also LO's surgery, so a big day here.

I will be out of the house most of today:

8:45 - 12:15 or so -- set up, moms group, take down and clean up
1 - 2:45 High school to finish uniform fittings
Groc. store - home by 3:30, hopefully

Thursday dinner crew will be here tonight with a friend of S's, actually a higher up in the organization for which she works, visiting here from Calif. Dh has said he'll cook, which means he'll make the main dish, fish, likely salmon. I'll do a little cleaning since some tasks have been sorely neglected lately.

I got in a jog yesterday, albeit a short one. Dh and I started around 5:25. Around 5:45, the street lights came on; by 5:50, I was uncomfortable with the level of darkness. Thank goodness I was back at the parking lot by then, having planned on a short jog due to time constraints. Sunset yesterday was 5:20. If we're going to jog in the late afternoon, it needs to be earlier than that.

I need to leave in :35, so I'd better get going.

Ditto giving thanks for this village and all you ladies. I don't know what I'd do without you!

I am also sooo thankful for the good news from ds yesterday re: doctor & christening.

I think I will also pause and give thanks for electricity and a safe, warm home. My goodness... the pictures from the Northeast are just unbelievable, aren't they? We've been without power for several days here at times, but usually we don't have to deal with it in below-freezing temperatures. We have had a couple of ice storms (in my adult life) that made us a little nervous, but managed to get through it, obviously.

Thankful for Aleve & Tylenol.

Lucylee: are you feeling any better (without drugs!)? I definitely have a cold as I'm now getting a congested chest. That's be fine except this ding-dang sore throat hasn't left me yet. I'm doing vitamin C like crazy. Funny we both have almost the same thing even though we live in quite different climates.

I'm up and have s2s. Didn't exercise because, in theory, today is my heavy housecleaning day. We'll see how much I get done. I didn't want to use my little bit of energy on exercising and then have nothing left to do housework. At this point, my shower tired me enough that I could head back to bed.

Dh was very tired too so we didn't get up until well after 8. At 6 when the light came on to wake us and I got to the bathroom, he asked that I shut the light off and he slept until 7:30 and then lay in bed for the next 45 minutes. I dozed in and out, aware that my congestion was making me snore so I kept waking myself up.

I'm up have fed the chickens, made the coffee & the bed, had breakfast rinsed and loaded the dishes. Next up ex. it's cold out so the ex. bike is my choice. (_)P having tea now coffee is gone. Take care all who are ill looks like lots of us are fighting colds here. I'm better but still on the mend.

My dh just called and told me to start on Airborn. He is either coming down with a cold or he is hoping it is just allergies.

I had planned to buy groceries today and clean tomorrow. The bug guy called and I didn't answer. Guess I will clean and have him come first thing in the morning, then I can buy groceries.

Emptynester, Denney's is notoriously bad on sodium, and, in my experience, grease. I don't even see them as options any more; I look to other places even if they are convenient. Drink plenty of water today. If your fingers are uncomfortable as mine would be, do some "piano playing" and "jazz hands" (pretend you are about to catch a basketball and stretch your hands big) exercise.

Wellness wishes to those getting colds!

I'd better say I am thankful our family is all here for each other. Phone here ringing off the hook as both sons have concerns today and one has even been by, talking on the way in the drive (he's away again now). I have been trying to say reassuring things. Ds' concerns are for coworkers but still "close to home" in many ways, or perhaps "too close for comfort". Dstepson really, really needs his dad, I am woefully inadequate. He will get his callback from HRH soon I'm sure. I had better call dd32 and make sure she doesn't need to talk (smile). Pretty sure dd14 doesn't have a worry in the world except whether a certain boy will look her way today (note to self - don't tell HRH that!).

Didn't sleep so well. I awoke from a semi-nightmare at 5:00 - interestingly about dd32 now that I think of it, so I'd better call that child for sure! Anyway, I just stayed up. I seemed to awake with a bit of attitude adjustment about both routines and healthy habits, as well. Yay, me.
