Dove, I am so glad that you didn't lose trees during the storm and that you are safe. Thank you for the tip on the headlamp. That is a wonderful idea.
I still need to vaccum the living room and dining room plus dust the living room. The upstairs will be clean and I can start on the basement.
Thankful Thursday

Kathryn - I agree!
Elizabeth - what are you crocheting?
Lilac - Good job on getting main level cleaned!
LO picked up from school. He brought home a decorated teepee.
It is a beautiful sunny day and LO is eager to play outdoors. I am going to monitor him and go through daily cards.

Re: Thankful Thursday
so happy to hear your dsis n law is doing well with the chemo and is feeling okay! d lilac
welcome back d dove! glad you're safe.
Hello to all. I am sitting in my car as dd is in piano lessons. dh had a carpenter come to replace the doors in our house (were hollow); we will not have any doors (including bathroom for the weekend) so I have to put up curtains. I don't understand why he chose to do this when we have sooooo many other things that need to be done especially on the outside but I can't complain because he never says he something must be done.
hoping to come back to send you a wave and a hello!

Re: Thankful Thursday
I'm back up and at 'em. I just had to lay down this afternoon, so after I got back from the groc. store, I did just that - and promptly fell asleep on the sofa. Girls were home about 20 minutes later, but I dozed off and on for another 10 minutes or so. Then, I just lay there not wanting to get up. I finished a sudoku puzzle. Now, I feel worse than I did before.
This is why I don't take naps very often. I'm drinking a cup of tea trying to muster some mojo to get ready for dinner and guests. I might take an Advil; I have a slight headache.
Glad to see you again, Dove! Yes, we have headlamps in place of flashlights here too! We use them when camping or just whenever we need a light. It is nice to have hands free. They are also generally smaller and lighter than flashlights, so they take less space and less weight when packing a back pack/camping supplies, etc. And if they are LEDs, I think they're actually brighter too.
Yep, agree with Kathryn.
That is odd that the dentist and endodontist couldn't find the crack, OK.
We had a gorgeous day here today, but I didn't really get out and enjoy it. I did my first mentioned errands/meetings and got home a little after 3. Then, put away groceries, then fell asleep on the sofa.
OK, I'm off to take an Advil and then reclaim the kitchen. My tea is gone.

Re: Thankful Thursday
This has been a doozy of a day. Meeting with the rabbi was on the subject that I alluded to in MO a couple of months ago and I think that is all working out. However, that has been stressful.
After the meeting at temple I went to dmom's to pick her up for a dr appointment. She was in a tizzy - not feeling well, had forgotten to take meds, upset about my dsis, weepy and blood sugar @ 221. While I was soothing her and trying to get her ready to go (she couldn't find purse or cane, then didn't have teeth in, then didn't have hearing aid) my dsis her called three more times, after having called Mother all morning already. I spoke to dsis once and she said she didn't have any water and of course I was worried that the bill hadn't been paid and her water had been cut off. Dr appointment w dmom went okay but I'm thinking I probably need to take more responsibility with her meds, as there had been a previous misunderstanding.
Got dmom back home, and talked to dh by phone, and he was to call dbil, dd's xh. (Long story, dsis and he were married, then divorced, then he started living there again and had lived there for quite a few years and they filed joint tax returns.
) Anyway, dbil called me and said that dsis is fine, she does have water, she has a social worker coming every week and some housekeeping and home health care coming to the house also. She also had an interview for some type of disability payment based on mental condition....)
Anyway, very stressful day. I'm getting weepy every time I think of closing on the old house tomorrow, too. Have been at work part of the afternoon and issues with getting client info for return due next week, and I won't be here on Monday so I'll need to finish it tomorrow or this weekend if we can get the info.

Re: Thankful Thursday
Up from my nap. Yes, Helia, the long recovery time from a nap is not pleasant.
Dh has Chinese tonight. Since I had a frozen lasagna on Tuesday night, I'm going to just make myself some pasta and tomato sauce with some meatballs tossed on top. Given that up until 8 years ago or so, I couldn't eat pasta without gagging, to make it at home, by choice, is amazing. I had to read the side of the package to learn how it is done. The tomato sauce is from a jar and the meatballs are frozen, precooked ones, so this dinner isn't a lot more complicated that making up a lasagna. Hopefully, I'll have enough food, it is 10 WW points so that should make a full meal (I have no idea how much pasta to make up for each serving so went with the 1cup listed under the nutrition label, doesn't look like much so I have no idea how much it will make.)

Re: Thankful Thursday
((Twins Mom and dmother)) so there really was water all along, or did dbil find out that water had just been turned back on? Wow, your mother really shouldn't have to handle that much fast-moving input and distress. No wonder she wasn't ready for appt and wasn't doing well.
So glad to see Dove! 6 days is tough, though, even if it could have been worse. I know you are grateful it wasn't January, too, but you have definitely gone through your quota of hard weather and deserve an easier few months upcoming! Yes, a good tip.
Where is Mystery Woman? Was her area of the Great Lakes hard hit as well?
I did see sherinjoy's light on - hi, sherinjoy!
Oh, blessed! Every single door at once? Yikes. Use only the most secure, sturdy chair or stool for hanging that cloth! Get help from dd.
Elizabeth, it's been my experience that the best watch help comes from a battery shop. Here we have BatteriesPlus, I think, but most are probably the same. Anyway, ours happily look at many odd little problems, saying they figure eventually you'll need a battery for whatever gizmo and be used to coming in their shop! That's how I got the new band put on my dmother's watch, which I'm wearing right now. We'd been trying to get that done, but everyone said basically, "That's not my table". LOL
I had a pretty good experience today trying out Zevia sodas, which were on sale at the natural foods store - zero calories but naturally sweetened. I had only had the grape in the past and didn't like it. Tried the cola and the black cherry flavors. The caffeine-free cola is like a "Lemon Coke" I remember having once, and I don't mind it. The black cherry is nice - I believe I would buy it again. I also bought sparkling water to try making my own recipe at home with juice and stevia. I looked at the natural foods store for liquid stevia, but they didn't have it.
Desk Day finished all the way to the PO. Also ran by one pharmacy, so that's one out of 2 that were expecting me.
Ds and dgs came and visited with the chickens. Dgs won't pet them but when I put them back in the pen he's disappointed! He enjoyed some children's graham cookies - glad I had those on hand.
Both the PDA & Computer forum and the Routines forum have new discussions going.
Naps - first day I haven't had one in a while, and I arose at 5. I did have a Bulletproof Coffee this morning, and it's rare for me to have coffee, so that might explain part.

Re: Thankful Thursday
No, Kathryn, I don't feel better... and I'm just taking Aleve and Tylenol.
I don't feel better at all.
Doctor will be out of the office until Tuesday.
Went to pick up my watch today... got home, realized it is running 25 minutes slow.
I think my watch is dying.
I know -- y'all are saying -- DUH -- SET THE WATCH.
Not so simple. This watch is 37 years old. A S eiko that my dgdaddy gave me when I was in 9th grade. I had the mechanical works switched to battery a few years ago, but instead of solving the problems, it increased the problems. Now the stem doesn't exactly fit the works, and the watch man has to set it & seal the stem w/something every time the time changes. They have told me they will no longer work on it... it is just impossible to get parts, apparently.
It just breaks my heart to give it up, y'all. I know y'all are probably ROFLOL right now at how sentimental I am... but my dgdaddy has been gone 23 years now and I guess I think as long as this watch is on my arm, he's still with me.
When he got it for me, my dmom AND my dgmother kept telling him he shouldn't buy me such a nice piece of jewelry --
"She won't take care of it."
And it has been on my arm just about every single day since, except when it has been in the shop.
I wonder if the watch man set it wrong so I'd think it was broken and he won't have to look at it anymore.
