Harriet, according to dbil, there was water all along. My dsis is very difficult to understand - usually not complete sentences and a somewhat sing song delivery so I could have misunderstood. OTOH, I'm going to ck w dbro, who has been there recently for an update.
I wonder if they will put me in a separate room tomorrow at the house closing so I don't scare the buyers with my weeping? Somehow, it seems the end of an era - I wasn't this broken up when dkids went away to college so this emotion is a surprise.
OKay, I don't know which choice I would take. I hope you can resolve it w/o too much more pain. Are LO's ear tubes tomorrow? I've been meaning to tell you that ds had three sets before the age 6 and it's really an easy surgery. I don't know that he will even need the pain meds but it's good to have available if needed. I think the earaches that ds had were much worse than the surgery, but then your LO hasn't had repeated infections. Hoping all goes well....
Lucy, I'm glad I'm not the only sentimental fool here tonight....

Dinner is over and the kitchen is cleaned up and dishwasher running. Dh put the garbage out for me while I was doing that. I'm going to start a load of laundry and then watch Big Bang Theory.

Re: Thankful Thursday
((Twins)) I understand a little. When we go back to Austin, we still drive by the house where we did the majority of our raising 3 babies/toddlers. We only lived there for 4.5 years though -- wow, I hadn't realized it was so short until I wrote that! I still feel so attached to that house. . . I can only imagine how you must feel about the closing on your house tomorrow.
((lucylee)) Oh, I hope you feel better soon.
Everyone has left. Dinner was excellent - and dh cooked it all: trout (Asian type marinade, lots of fresh garlic and ginger bits), rice, steamed asparagus, a baguette. Well, I set up the rice maker. Before friends came, we did get the island cleared off, did some pick up in the living room, and I s/s-ed the main bathroom. Ds stopped by late this afternoon to use the car to get cash and to think about borrowing a suitcase for a weekend retreat he is attending tomorrow. He decided that he could fit everything in his backpack after all. I drove him back to a meeting on campus right before we ate.
Kitchen is cleaned up and dw is running. We are trying to figure out holiday plans -- when to go visit my parents. There are some differing schedules/desires here; dd17 wants to go for Tgiving but dh is traveling the week before Tgiving and leaves again the Sunday after Tgiving for another longer (5 days?) trip, so he wants to go after Cmas instead. . . .Dd17 doesn't want to give up the end of her Cmas holiday for a trip. Ds' Wed. afternoon class on Nov. 20th is cancelled, so we could conceivably drive down the day before Tgiving. He is also OK with after Cmas, so he is flexible -- as usual.
I need to type up the agenda for my meeting tomorrow. I did remember to order a box of coffee this afternoon and have made some muffins to take along.
I am so tired now, though. . .

Re: Thankful Thursday
Tiptoeing in to say hello. I've had a quiet day to myself putzing with little things, cutting more fabric into little pieces and some reading. Dh has been in other parts of the house, mostly relaxing in the living room!
((Hugs)) for those who need them. Get well wishes for those not feeling quite as perky as they should.
Dove... it's nice to see you. I'm glad you got through the storm without harm. The headlamp idea was a good one I will remember for next hurricane season.
Twins... I know how you feel about your house. We moved here 27 yrs. ago and I have said many, many times I wish we could have our northern house right here on this lot! It had lots more room and was much easier to take care of.
Lucy... happy for you that ds & ddil like the new baby dr. and that christening date is set.
Nothing else is new with me. I'm looking forward to an apron day tomorrow and the weekend to come.

Re: Thankful Thursday
Good Evening, Villagers!
It's not been my day. Here's my ta da:
- showered, etc... dressed
- the pharmacy emailed me that 2 of my dr.'s were refusing to renew 2 prescriptions and asked that I call them to get them to contact the pharmacy.
- I emailed my dr., told them, they emailed me back, said that the prescription's been renewed, but maybe they didn't get the fax and they'll try again.
- I called the other dr., they're all out-of-town on a conference, so left the message with the nurse for medications.
- I then, set about to do a ta da, so I dumped trash, filled the napkin holder, and made my side of the bed.
- I read my devotion, prayed, said my Novena, and I wrote in my journal qute a bit.
- I checked my to do list, realized I was not doing anything on it, so decided to watch the birds frolicking in the sunshine instead.
- I watched the morning and afternoon news.
- I went to my oral pathologist's office to get my pallet biopsy results, they did not have them because the pathology dept. at the university has been extremely slow all week.
My surgery was the 1st, today's the 8th, and I was told results would be in today.
- The dr. looked in my mouth, was happy with the healing, I told him DH has been eating ice cream all week, I'm craving some, and asked could I have any yet?
He said by all means go get ice cream and I'm off the soft diet, as of tonight, too!
- I dusted a bit, watered and groomed a plant, and got out Happy B-day rubber stamps to make cards one of these days soon.
- I came home, totally frustrated and disappointed, so wrote a LOT in my journal, then decided to feed Bert & Ernie some white sheets and Biz soak them, too.
Now it's 7:38 p.m. and I need to await near the phone to receive my biopsy results tomorrow and just hope I won't need to wait over the weekend into next week. I was so disappointed and frustrated.
And totally surprised, too.
(((Twins))) and (((Dmother))) It's hard to say good-bye to a house.
(((Lucylee))), I hope you get better soon, too!
Helia, Your dinner sounded awesome!
Kathryn, DH and I enjoy the Big Bang Theory, too!
Waving to Dove, MysterWoman, Blessed, Elizabeth, Harriet, OKay, Dee, Scattered, Sunny, Nancy, and those I've missed.
Apologies for a "quickie" post like this, but it's been one of "those" days. Hope everybody has a good sleep and a great Friday, too!

(((Twins))) Hope things go better w/your dmom, too.
(((OKay))) I'd rather have this psedo-flu thing than a toothache. Bless your heart. My dmom is facing a similar-sounding scenario w/a tooth right now, too. Hope you get some relief soon.
(((Ivy))) Sooo nerve-wracking and frustrating...
Thank you all for the get well wishes. I am sorta looking forward to the drive to college town tomorrow, simply b/c I know I can sleep. We're staying at the condo, and d?bil may arrive Sat. morning before we really want to get up, but that'll be okay. The game is that night, and I think with this bug I've got, I can be excused to stay curled up in the recliner as much as I want.
Dmil told dh that d?bil was coming early Saturday b/c he wanted to do "some cleaning" in the condo. You think??? * sheesh * He's not going to make me feel guilty about pitching in to help; I can promise you that. We cleaned that place up for six years and left it SPOTLESS for him/dnephew. It is DEFINITELY his/their turn now.
(((Dove)))
Waving to ALL!
