Wrought Wednesday

Post by helia »

You have this day to make into whatever shape you'd like, like wrought iron. How will you shape this day? Some shaping forces you cannot control, but you can control your response to them. May this day take a beautiful shape, at least inside each one of us.

This is looking to be a great day here! The sun is shining and I can spend most of this day at home! Yay! My main goal today will be cleaning and prepping for the arrival of dfriends. They are traveling without kids, so I will just need to host the two of them tonight. However, I am behind in so many things here; I'm looking forward to a chance to get caught up.

I am going to do something funny today; dh meets ds for lunch/coffee every Wednesday. Ds doesn't know that dh is traveling; I'm just going to show up at their meeting spot at the right time and take dh's place. :) I'm looking forward to an hour with my son today.

Dfriends arrive around 5/5:30 pm. Then, they're out again around 6:30 - 9:30, so they will be easy houseguests -- they won't be here much this evening.

Next: get through the a.m. routine.

Funny,Helia. Have fun!

Just dropped gd14 off at school. Trying to decide which way to go this morning. DH went to school with DD & needds to be picked up later. Think I'll take the morning off & go visit dsil. That will surprise her. Have dinner at church at 6. Have to make grocery run for that. Planning itinerary in my head.

I like that - making the day the way want it...but knowing it may not be to my planning and that's okay

dd and I spent almost a whole day at the back doctors office - she has bulging disc since she was 12 and doesn't do the exercises. She hurt herself playing tennis but her back looks ok except for the discs. She needs to go to physical therapy for the next 6 weeks 3 x a week... that will be interesting with school and music.
then I came home and fell asleep.

say a prayer for her this morning as she is playing in front of the whole school by herself and this is the first time she has every done that.

I plan on tothing as I am falling far behind.

have a wonderful morning one and all.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Good morning! Busy day yesterday - I was home less than 30 minutes last night at 7:15 when dh called to say his plane had landed-when I got there to pick him up, he had discovered his bag didn't make it so he had to stick around to make the report, so it was an even later evening. Someone called in the night about the bag and it will go to his office today.

I am free today until 3 p.m. but have stuff I need to get done. I've had three busy back to back days and just want to veg out today, but really shouldn't. The PODA looks like this:
-get ready for meeting at 3 and temple board meeting at 6 (will stay at the temple between meetings, probably?)
-errand run - groceries, p/u Macs meds at vet, what else?
-routines - clearing dd's room upstairs?
-finish a temple report to have the treasurer sign this evening
-what else?

This morning dh rec'd word that the dmom of a dfriend in FL had passed away last night - this is the dfriend we were planning to visit for Thanksgiving, with a 10 hour trip down there beginning on Tuesday evening, and coming back on Saturday. I haven't actually been looking forward to going - both kids are staying home and it just seems like way too much driving for a 2.5 day stay there. So that trip is off but we may be going to Birmingham AL for the funeral on Friday....I'm glad we'll be home tho instead of on the run for Thanksgiving.

Getting to work....poor ddogs haven't been walked yet!
-personal grooming and get dressed
-walk the dogs
-empty the dishwasher
-clear kitchen counters

Helia, I love that you said "wrought iron" and not "rod iron" (which I see all the time on C raigslist)! :)

Waiting here on someone to show up to give an estimate for work we need to have done. Then must go to library and finish basement cleanup. Whatever else I do will be a surprise...even to me!

Dee, have a nice visit with DSIL.

Yes, Elly, echoing the "rod" iron on Craigslist!

Ddogs get an extra nice walk when I don't have to be out of the house early. I call it their "enrichment" as we go up the hill to the undeveloped lots and they get to sniff out everything along the tree line there. :D

This round:
-make the bed
-straighten MBR
-clear kitchen table
-fold laundry, put all away
-reboot the laundry (I also started a load earlier)

also continue with grocery list

Good morning, villagers ~
Blessedw2 ~ Thanks for the link to the P&P video snippit. I haven't seen or heard any of their tapes/DVDs although I have read all of their books. Now I want to search youtube for more, but it would be too ironic to be sidetracked doing that when I'm supposed to be here to avoid being sidetracked. ;)

Harriet ~ A good idea to postpone Christmas family gathering. You definitely want those inter-generational photos, because the babies will be high school seniors before we're prepared for them to be so mature! :)

Monday was errand day. In addition to boring stuff, stopped by a clothing consignment store and found 2 nice warm sweaters, comfy wool blend slacks, and a pair of flannel pajamas. That fills some major holes in my winter wardrobe.

Last night was sewing group board meeting. It was moved up a week so it wouldn't interefere with someone's Thanksgiving plans. Good meeting, and tomorrow I will need to start writing articles for the newsletter and sending them to the editor.

Not today, though. Today is Apron Day! :)

7x7 in addition to 3Ds:
* Try to make appointment for car repair tomorrow
* Call dr to check on lab results
* Stuff the trash bin as full as it will go
* Dejunk at least 1 hour in my office
* Cook meat & divide meal-size for freezer
* Tidy pantry
* Scrub kitchen floor

We will be with my family at Thanksgiving, the first one since DNiece died at the first of the year. Must strongarm DSis into letting us bring more of the food, she always thinks she has to cook everything. Or maybe since it will be about 25 people and we have the longest drive, we could bring disposable dishes and paper napkins. I know she likes chai tea mix so I will buy some for her hostess gift.

I've been adding to this post on breaks between cards. Must keep moving ...

People are just bound and determined to mess up my plans. DH was to have a nuclear stress test today and we've done all the prep - and the tech is sick and it has to be postponed.

Well we are going to go get groceries anyway. We ARE running out of food now.

So now I have to figure out dh's meds for today ( he had to go off some for the test) and regroup.

Hugs for all. TTFN

I hate to be prepared for something like that, then it gets called off, MT!

Need to find the closing documents on this house, then enter a needed repair online that was stipulated in closing, but never done.

I am going to head on out for groceries and to pick up dMacs meds after that.
