That's a great idea, MT! Simple for everyone! I've toyed with the idea of offering to bring a spiral cut ham down. I know my mom would love to have the leftovers + the bone for soup later.. . . .I don't know if a spiral cut ham would be pre-cooked or not. If not, I could cook it here and then bring it down.

Another lol folded and put away. The MBR is ready for guests - except for clean sheets on the bed. I'm waiting for the dryer; I do have an alternate set of sheets for that bed, but the set being washed fit better. Well, I should probably do a quick vacuum in there too.

The girls and I snacked a lot around 5 pm. I think we'll have bread and maybe some salad and call it dinner. That is next.

I guess the step with unsudsy amonia will kill the mold and deal with contamination - though that was mentioned in the paper section - not the photograph section.....

Just popping in for a quick hello!

My eyes were dilated today because I had my retinal scan done of the vetriomacular adhesion. Nothing's changed in 6 weeks! Don't need to see him for 10 weeks. He said I have 70% chance of remaining the same throughout the remainder of my life. I turn 61 in Jan. and there's a newly approved FDA drug injection for the problem, too. He said there is no way of telling when or if I'll get a tear, it's only the eye that knows, but since I have 70% change of it NOT tearing, those are good percentage numbers. I'm so happy and walked out of there on cloud 9!

My eyes are still kind of "wonky" from being dilated.

x clean sheets on the MBR bed
x MBath clean
x main bathroom clean -- didn't get to the shower. It's not too bad.
x wiped down top of fridge; didn't get all the dust, but it is better
x put everything I think I'll need tonight and tomorrow a.m. in dd14's room

Next:
-vacuum MBR and 2 bathrooms
-quick dust in living areas
-vacuum living areas

That will probably be good enough.

Then, before I go to bed tonight, I still need to:
-finish filling out paperwork so dd14 can do synchr. swimming
-prep Cmas cards for moms group childcare workers/teachers
-maybe make muffins.

Am I posting to myself? I finished that last list. The house is much improved. Not perfect, but much better. I also spot cleaned some of our windows and washed the spot off the hallway wall where Pepper tends to wallow/rub herself after getting out of her crate. I wish I had remembered scrubbing the shower earlier, but I'm not going to sweat that at 9:15 pm. Friends aren't here yet. Oven is pre-heating for muffins. I'm going to mix those up, and work on finishing up dd14's paperwork.

I'm reading... just almost too tired to post.
We thought ds & ddil were going to bring dgs over tonight, but we haven't heard from them, and I'm too tired to even call and see if everything is okay. I'm sure it is -- they probably just decided to stay home to themselves, instead of going out. (DS was thinking she might want to go Christmas shopping or something.)

Nothing major has happened today... just tired. Sinus trouble, I guess. I took some Mucinex. I don't know if that causes drowsiness or if it's just me.

I was also expecting dcousin to come get football tickets tonight, but she has been a no-show, also.
No problem -- she just lives across the field from my house. I can see her any time.

Today was just a hassle of getting grades in for the end of the six weeks... and a flurry of make-up work... and more getting grades in...

I picked up supper @ school fund-raiser, took plate to dmil, came home, ate, s/s guest bath * in case dcousin showed up, you know! * read the paper, and fell asleep on the couch.
Need to do some school work now.
Need to finish ironing, but that is NOT happening tonight. * sheesh *

So sad about your mom's safety deposit box, Cowinkie... and everything else, of course... but this is just sorta adding insult to injury, isn't it?

Hope dh feels better soon and that you don't come down with the bug, OKay!

Re: Tgiving dinners...
DH told me to save a recipe for cornbread dressing in the newspaper today. He said, "Someday you may have to do Tgiving dinner." ROFLOL... Don't y'all know THAT will be a red-letter day in the village???
I will need to make my cookies for next week.

Feeling kinda bad for dmil. Found out today that dsisil is taking her dinner to TN b/c her parents are unable to travel this year. Dmil always has Tgiving dinner w/them, and they are trying to get dmil to go to TN with them, but there is no way dmil will be in for a long day like that... so she will be alone.
But since we were with them last year, we definitely need to be with my family this year. ESPECIALLY w/ddad facing a trip to Houston for cancer doctors and my dbro in FL...

Hmmm... just thinking, my family would be glad to have dmil join us... but no way that's happening either.
At dsisil's, and anytime dmil was responsible for the dinner, we always have real plates & glasses, nice table settings, calm, orderly behavior, and there are no children under 17 anymore.
At MY family gatherings... oh my... we sit where we can -- den, kitchen, dining room, living room... usually the women end up crowded around the kitchen table where the food is... so when the men come back for seconds, they are reaching over & around us... there are at least 4 children between 3-17... we're kinda noisy and we all talk at the same time and over each other... it's just a big, loud, chaotic scene, I would imagine -- to an outsider. But I love it, of course. Especially since one of my uncles died a few years ago, I find myself just sorta "clinging" to my aunts when we're all together, and I truly do appreciate and treasure all my relatives, even if sometimes my other uncle & my dad get on my nerves.

Lucylee my dad's lady friend used to come to my Christmas dinner instead of have it with her own children and grandchildren because my house was calmer. So you are probably wise that your dmil wouldn't enjoy a boisterous meal with your extended family. I, too, love boisterous and felt our dinner was too quiet so Ireland (Dad's friend) appreciating what I had was eye-opening.

I did nothing much after my super long nap. Did spot what I thought was a fraudulent charge on the credit card but it turned out to be ds's. Had dinner. watched a movie. Watched Daily Show clips. Refilled the vitamin dispenser while dh washed up the dishes. He's gone to bed now. I'm not feeling tired but I guess I should go too or risk mixing my days and nights up.

It is our anniversary, and HRH and I went our separate ways to buy presents for each other. Both of them will take a while to get back finished, so we are amused that we are both so sidetracked. He picked me out a birthstone ring and it is being sized - not a complete surprise, then, but enough to make it fun to anticipate.

I have gotten HRH's diploma from last year to the frame shop and they will have it ready as a surprise this weekend. He needs to see that we appreciate his continuing dedication. He was procrastinating on this framing because of some kind of misplaced modesty, I think. I consider it an investment in dd's future college dreams. She will see a tangible reminder that her Daddy thought education was so important he kept working toward it, one course at a time, all these working years.

Of course many credits were "lost" insofar as counting toward a degree, simply because time ran out before there were enough still in force at once. In fact, he saw as many credits lost as he was able to keep, but finally he worked with a counselor who guided him toward the right couple of repeat classes to reach the Associate Degree he had already earned twice over. There were 2 different majors toward which various credits had been targeted, both of which no longer exist at the college, so his counselor suggested "General Education" and HRH says that means he was bound to be qualified for everything by then. His counselor put in a special request and had 2 identical diplomas mailed to him separately, a source of amusement to the children. Having the same info, they of course represent the same degree, but it was a nice recognition that in his case the sum of the parts exceeded the total.
