Helia, I've always thought that my early sewing served me well on developing visual/spatial skills, and I can see the similarities of design and engineering. Anyway, both dd14s may find new interests as they mature, also.

The city came and put that absorbent powder on the spills, which they said looked and smelled like diesel fuel.

Argh! LO and I are having a "discussion". He decided he wanted me to cut his hair instead of going to his regular barber shop. I don't care either way - as long as his hair gets trimmed. 1/2 of the way through cutting his hair, he changed his mind. I suspect he didn't have a nap at school today because I very rarely see an attitude unless he is tired. Nevertheless, we are going to finish his haircut. So.... I'm sitting here watching him..... he is sitting in chair on the porch. We are both waiting for him to get ready to finish his hair cut.

Helia - the DD you met and I graduated in the same class from the same school. We did the chicken dance on stage in front of the whole faculty and the Trustees. We only took 2 classes together but followed each other in several. Her degree was in Communications while mine was in Religious Studies with a minor in Art.

I worked at the college at the time and used my "lunch hour" to take classes during the day. One class per quarter. Took a long time doing it that way.

Time to go to town and see if I can talk the car dealer into a price we can afford. (I've got my boot cut jeans and my cowboy boots on - just 'cause they make me feel strong - so lookout dealer. )

I figured out that when I work 7-3:30 I come home just as tired as when I work 12 hr shifts unfortunately I don't get 1-2 extra days off to get stuff done around the house. Yesterday I barely got anything done after work. Today I decided to come home and take a shower. Showers wake me up and get me going. This evening I have a ton of things to get done so I needed the energy boost.

Scattered, 12-hour shifts sound so challenging and hard to do! Then, to come home with everyday "life" and housework to do, too? You're amazing!

Elizabeth, What exactly is "yarn bombing"? It sounds like you're rolling skeins of yarn into balls and are throwing them, as bombs, at pets and people. I can't figure out yarn bombing out. I'm glad your tub's unclogged, too! Hooray!

Kathryn, DD wakes up to NPR radio every a.m. before work. But on 1 morning, the professor she'd baby-sat for, had drowned in South America, it was on her NPR radio, and she was devastated. She called me a.s.a.p. My heart went out to her. She was so surprised to find out that way, too.

It's sad your health system is slow. It sounds aggravating and frustrating, both.

It's sad and maddening how your music friend can't get pain killers. Oh, she should change her diet! She needs to be proactive or she'll continue to suffer. Sad.

Your senior friend sounds like a blessing of a person to have as a friend. I have a Dfriend, 96, that way, too. Hoping for the best for your senior friend.

Very cool!! I liked that DD, though I met her very briefly. Maybe there's something about people who love lab retrievers. . . . Religious Studies.. . .Interesting!! Did you learn biblical Hebrew? I can definitely see you having an art degree!

I think some sad things might be going on here, but I'll need to come back to cuop later. I need to get dinner going now. R will be here pretty soon -- I suppose, don't know for sure, actually. I just spent some time returning a phone call re: possibly fraudulent charges on our CC; I am checking with dh. I think they are charges he made, but he needs to email/call me back to confirm. I hate that feeling though. I'm particularly sensitive after I got phished last week.

What an interesting slice-of-life day as you move from reading one post to the next.

What I intended to say as an end to my last post was that I had only caught up just-so-far and would have to finish later .... again.
Sadie, I missed that your darling kitten was ill, and am so sorry to see she passed away. How wonderful that your pet reached a lifetime of living with your family. Because we rescued Orphan Cat so late in her life and lost her to the tumor so early, it's become more obvious to me the blessing a home can be to a little animal.

Sadie, you are just full of reasons to congratulate these days. You've
worked in your weight lifting up to higher weights,
lost 15 pounds, and you are
10 chapters away from reading the Bible through in a year.

Have we heard about The Chicken Dance before???? Was there somebody with a video camera in that auditorium????
