TGI Friday!

While I was outside starting to do my thing this morning - neighbor stopped by and asked if we wanted to go to the desert 4 wheeling. So I quickly packed a lunch and we jumped in the Rhino and have been gone for about 5 hours. We had a wonderful time - 5 couples - up and down hills, down thru the washes and over some bumpy roads. Some beautiful views. I'll put it all up on my blog on Sunday.

Now the same group will have a get together at 4 so I'd better find something to bring. Probably should jump in the shower, too as I look like a reverse raccoon. Goggles kept my eyes white but the rest of me is a bit dusty.

OKay, I'm glad LO and the kids had a hands-on experience! Sounds like great fun for them all and the adults, too.

My Ta Da:
- Showered, put lotion on my legs, which I don't do regularly, but should.
- Coffee, Prayers, and "Quietude" time.
- Filled and ran the DW.
- Got out hats yarns and patterns.
- Helped DH put groceries away.
- Set my dawn simulator for morning.
- Put away clothes.
- Put on an apron, counted that I have 6 now.
- Feed the cat dry cat food in her two eating spots. She gets 1/2 can in the evenings.
- Prayed for others.
- Sorted the mail.
- Sort of rested for a bit.

To Do:
- Read computer print-out on goal-making.
- Read on the 1st week of Cheryl Richardson's "Life Makeover". There is a chapter a week to focus on.
- Read on "Three Brides, No Groom," by Debbie Macomber.
- Do laundry, maybe.
- Am trying to not stress or overdo. It causes FM (fibro pain) to be worst.
- Have a bladder infection, too.

Hi everyone! This morning started of interestingly with a call from XDH. It seems DD10 got into trouble at school. Three boys had trapped three girls in the bathroom and after repeatedly asking them nicely to let them out, DD got frustrated and pushed her way through. She got written up because she touched the boys, the boys got written up, the other girls did not. Everyone agrees it was self-defense, but she got a writeup anyway, because she touched first. I'm not sure what else they expected her to do. At least the boys got in trouble too.

I have had lunch with friends and made December travel arrangements. Tonight, I am going to pick up some free knit and crochet books from a craigslist person. Then I am going to crochet at the yarn shop. Some other pending stuff: change address at tax office, lots of LOLs, contact pet sitter, get checks, return wrong size toilet seat and replace with proper size.

Ivy: A yarn bombing is kind of like grafitti with knitted and/or crocheted items. In this case, the local botanical garden has asked crafters to make things to decorate the gardens. What we do is wrap trees and lightpoles. Decorate the mushrooms and giant ants that are at the gardens. Hang 'Christmas ornaments' from trees, and generally have a good time. Just got home and had a very busy day that ended with several very BORING hours of computer re-orientation. Home now and am not doing anything for the rest of the night...

MT - reading about ya'll going 4-wheeling made me think of that commercial where the Kids are talking about how their parents don't have any friends and really need to connect... it then flashes to the parents out enjoying their retirement.

Elizabeth - you are better than me I would be furious at the school for writing up my child especially in a clear case of bullying and harassment.

Harriet - Sorry to hear about HRH's DAunt. As far as the appliance & HVAC repairman it just goes to me favorite quote "nothing happens in god's world by mistake"

Going to veg out in front of the TV for awhile and then head off to bed... busy weekend.

Oh funny thing happened at work today. I had stopped by the Staffing office and my DF who is Director of staffing was trying to talk me into working Sunday and I said "no, it's my birthday on Sunday and I am not working." My DP/BFF happened to be sitting there and told him "no she can't work I'm taking her out for a day without kids." I looked at her and said "oh... umm... ok." he then said "great she can have fun and then come to work." I turned to him and shot him a look and said "um... ya... NO!"
The funniest part was the fact that if this hadn't have happened I doubt she would have told me until she showed up on my door step. Gotta love a woman who knows her BFF is actually a hermit.

Harriet: I'm surprised about the POA experience. What if your father was confused when they called? Or no longer able to communicate at all? As you said, what is the point of a POA - when you give it, you understand the ramifications and you are demonstrating trust in the person you give it to.

As for all the kudos to me about my senior friend - she's a wonderful addition to my life. She was down East last month and brought me back a present, a book on the history of White Point. I didn't even know it existed! (Just looked and it was published this year, so that's why I didn't know.)

I had my nap after the bed got remade, after the bedding was dried. Dh cooked dinner and got me up when he was ready to serve. Then, after I ate, while we were still watching the tv show over dinner, I got my mending out. Finished that and moved onto to tidying the kitchen, running the dishwasher, started a load of laundry, then deep cleaning the bedroom (vacuuming behind/under as much as I could, tidying the drawers and emptying the linen chest and vacuuming it out.) Finished off by dusting and vacuuming the rest of the bedroom level of the house. Boy am I stiff.

Dh is upstairs getting ready for bed but I still have an hour left on my schedule for today. Don't know if I'll skip it (writing the presentation for Sunday) or not.

There were some questions about the barn quilt. Just do a search for 'barn quilts' and several sites for patterns or 'trails' come up. One for instance: http://ces.ca.uky.edu/ohio/barnquilttrail The quilt itself is painted on board and hung. I assume it has a protective coat on it. I've seen some hanging on barns and they're beautiful! Really want to decide on a pattern and start getting the supplies for it. Of course then I have to transport it home and get dh to hang it. Might take it down and store it for winters -we'll see.

I was really on the go all day -had over 11,000 steps so I guess I was busy.

Glad I've posted here about the quilt because it will be a great motivator!

Forgot to mention got the towels ran through the wash just fine yesterday yea!

I've planted more bulbs and am nearly done only one more package to finish up tomorrow along the property line in the front yard. I gave the rest to dd and dgd was jumping up and down with excitement that I remembered to save the red ones for her to help plant at their house!

I have done dinner here.

Hello, villagers ~

Belated Happy Anniversary to Harriet & HRH.

Feel free to skip the rest, I'm just documenting for myself --

Yesterday was another at-home day to finish the list from Wednesday. I also needed to do some online research for a project.

Today felt like a bunch of running around and waiting for other people.
* To the post office to check our box and library group's.
* To the library to check the donation box and ask for invoices. Saw a super cute decoration, which I described in AC&N.
* DPC that took 2 calls to get an actual person and I still have to wait until Monday for an answer. Actually, I should have had an answer 2 days ago, but I was trying to be polite and let them call me at their convenience. See where being nice got me?
* Called the car mechanic to confirm that the part he had to order had arrived. Good news, he had the part and he could fit me in earlier than originally planned.
* It was a beautiful warm day for driving to The Big City. After I dropped the car at the mechanic's, I walked a block to a shopping mall and sat in the food court with an iced tea and my book. (I hate shopping, but love reading!)
* Car repair didn't take as long as estimated, and also cost less than the estimate.
* Since the car was done about the same time as DH was getting off work, we were able to meet for supper. Rotten service, so-so food.
* Used a 40% off coupon at Michael's for a can of glitter spray paint to test on a fabric ornament. It's supposed to be nice again tomorrow so I'll do that test outside.
* Ran into WM for Rx. Was not in the mood to deal with the crowd so paid at the pharmacy counter and bugged out. That may have been the shortest time I've ever spent in a WM.

* Still waiting to hear from DSis about what we need for Tday. I'd like to do my shopping Monday and avoid all grocery stores the rest of the week.

I need to jump on finishing articles for the sewing group newsletter first thing in the morning.

Kathryn, yes it was disappointing to find out that my ddad could still be questioned personally even though he has the POA in place. There were many ways in which that scenario could have gone bad, not the least of which would be causing him to worry for days about whether something was wrong at the bank.

What a yucky experience for dd, Elizabeth! I am tapping my foot in indignation. I don't think she should have any mark against her whatsoever. If she had not acted, would the situation not have escalated, if only because it went on longer? (My eyebrows are getting higher as I think of time continuing to pass and not knowing the personal effect on each girl.) She may have kept it from getting MUCH worse and the educators/administration having truly hysterical families on their hands.

A belated Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Harriet
I see potiential for lots of problems with bank wanting to speak to DF. I know of other problem with POA using and abusing funds, but there are legal solutions to that if it can be proven - police failed to act in the case I know of.

Elizabeth - as a 7yo my dgd and school friends were exeriencing bullying from a boy. Finally they had had enough -the 3? of them took off after him and sat on him when they caught up with him - and yes they were the ones in trouble for bullying. I hope all gets back to normal for your dd.
