Tuesday Tunes

Good morning everyone. Last night I got my errands done, it was expensive because it was all shopping. I also cooked cornbread for the stuffing recipe and my turkey is thawing nicely. I also did some proofreading of DD10's essay. A good thing too: there was an error in the title AND she mentioned 'Native American chefs', which should have been chiefs! I still have a long list of things I need to get done soon, including update Quicken and balance checkbook. I need to get back on the job hunt too, I have been procrastinating and I cannot afford to do that.

This morning I had to take migraine meds and am feeling better. Tonight is Girls' Night Out with DD, so not much in the way of chores will get done. Probably Chinese food then Chuck E Cheese.

My tunes are all metal and punk usually played in the car. I don't have any Christmas CDs. At home I usually have no background music, so I haven't bought any. I also don't have any Christmas decorations because I am always in Alabama for Christmas. XDH has all the Christmas stuff.

Prayers have been sent up for lilac.

the 3 baskets at bottom of stairs put away took only 30 minutes - thought it would take so much longer
dh is working in kitchen so i can't get to refrigerator. truth be told time I bought some meat and didn't cook it so it needs to be tossed. waiting until dh is out of there as I feel guilty for wasting it.
now to pick up ddyounger


I met so many happy friendly people today - all wishing a Happy thanksgiving. how nice!

Girls will be home in about 25 minutes. I need to leave w/ dd14 to pick up dfriend in a little less than an hour. I am going to attend to laundry and get dinner started in the meantime; by the time I get home from the oboe lesson and dropping off dd14's friend, it will be close to 6:30 and dh has ceramics class tonight and he doesn't like to be too late. I think it starts at 6, so he has to be somewhat late.

Christmas music: When my kids were little, I used to love the Raffi Christmas album. I think dh decluttered it when he got rid of all our CDs and made everything digital. I'm thinking of buying it again for myself, even though I don't have tots. In general, I enjoyed the Raffi kids music almost as much as my kids did! I must say, Joshua Giraffe is one of my most favorite silly songs ever.

In order to get the "gift" of an old rusty wheelchair DH dragged home off the front porch (we look like Ma & Pa Kettle with that there) I had to clean and organize the garage, which meant I had to put stuff away in the shop. I dragged out the air hose and blew out both spaces...aggravating as there is a leak in the nozzle and air was not strong...I'm sure DH would have known how to do this. I asked him to help me with the porches this weekend, but he didn't so it's left to me.

I've noticed he's let some things go he usually takes care of...he usually blows all the grass off the tractor before he brings it in to the rear of the shop, but it wasn't done and there was grass all over. I guess things are just getting very hard for him to do also.

I've been all this time out there. Next up:
Trim the vines around the arbor leading up to the front porch, it is all overgrown and looks awful. Clean both porches and furniture.

Then I get to come back in and tackle more of the inside.

For Christmas songs, I like Josh Groban, too--and Michael Buble (need a French keyboard!).

Helia--My kids had Raffi tapes! Baby Beluga, Biscuits in the Oven, and Snow is Falling on Douglas Mountain are the songs I remember. They also had many Sesame Street music tapes that I would buy from the Avon lady. We'd play those on our 16 hour drives back to NC--fun times!

Glad you're all here to "chat" with today. Sometimes I have nothing to say...and other times I go on and on...about nothing!

I came home from work early because builder's employee was supposed to take care of some of our 90 day stuff today - didn't happen... he was here, then needed to go to Lowes, then bought the wrong thing....

DD got home from school today and we've planned supper and been to the grocery together.

I may try again for a nap....

We were big fans of Raffi also!

Thank you d helia. I love Raffi as well. dd younger used to sing Baby Booga instead of Baby Beluga - it would drive my dmom crazy and then dd would get a sparkle in her eye and smile - then sing Baby Booga a little louder and then giggle so much which would make my mom giggle and the game would go on. Mom never won against a 3 year old. I also bought (for me) follow that Bird dvd .

dh is finally making his list for the name pick on Thursday. Thank Goodness. It makes it easier for the person who has his name.

Looks like Christmas sorta makes me melancholy, huh?

I don't really listen to a lot of Christmas music, but I do have an Elvis Christmas CD.
And I have heard my dmom sing Oh Holy Night in church, too, Ivy... and I agree... that is special. I'm pretty impressed with my mom, all around.

Otherwise, the music we listen to include the bluegrass XM radio station, and sometimes I listen to the Elvis station when I'm alone in the car. I take it by spells -- I'll go days and days without ever turning to it, but dh doesn't especially love Elvis. He can stand it, but not too much of it. There's also a couple other sorta "classic" country stations we listen to.
We also listen to Nashville, WSM 650-AM. (Home of the Grand Ole Opry, you know.)
We listen to a lot of ballgames and a lot of talk radio. A LOT.

Oh -- I forgot -- dh would say it just ISN'T Christmas at all without hearing Bill Monroe's version of Christmas Time's A-Comin'.
He is not impressed with ANY of my Christmas songs listed above, LOL...
