May today be a very meaningful day for you. Have no thoughts on what that exactly means -it was just the word that came to me as I opened this page.
Know how meaningful the girls' accomplishments at hockey can be, Mystery. DGS13 had his first "hat trick" Saturday & other DGS8 had his first goal in lacrosse. So they were both very happy boys. Got a picture of newest dgs from ddil. He was lying on the floor thoroughly enjoying their tree. DDIL says he looks at it a LOT! Looks like he's putting on a little fat on that little body.
Didn't even post yesterday -read Kathryn's first 3 posts and that's as far as I got. Went to church, then to K ohl's with dd. She had $15 to spend and didn't want to lose it. Got a small truck for dgs.
I dozed so much during the day yesterday that I thought I'd have a hard time sleeping last night. Wrong! Guess I was tired.
Time to grab a cup of coffee and get ready to take dgd to school. I had a bit of breakfast. Blood sugars have been in the 'low' range again so HAVE to eat something right away.
Coffee in hand. Guess I better get moving though. Just remembered I have to take dh to dbil/dsil's this morning. Then at noon I have to have him to the head of Sr. Orphans to load our car. Then off to set up for dinner for Sr. Orphans. DH is volunteering -I'm not. Just can't. Find it hard to be in 2 places at one time and have to pick up dgd at 3.
This is the week of the Christmas Parade, so the work on the float will end on Thursday. Sure dh will be at school most of the day on Thursday and probably a good part of Tuesday & Wednesday.
Thanks for starting us off, Dee. Meaningful. . .yes, making each day meaningful would be good! I like blessed's take; making a home of peace and order for our families is certainly meaningful work. And the fun thing about this site is that we can share what this "means" for each of us on a day-to-day basis, which is something different since our families are all different!!
I drove the girls to school since the "kid car" has a flat tire this a.m. So, getting that taken care of has now been thrown on the agenda.
Goals for today:

- tire fixed; dh may take care of this?
- groc. store
- exercise?
- laundry
- driving dd14 to and from school for her extracurriculars tonight (synch. swim and then band rehearsal)
- Heb class @ 5
- dh and I are planning on going out to eat together tonight since the girls may not be around anyway - but only if the kid car gets fixed. Then, dd17 will be at Detroit tutoring while dd14 is at syn. swim and then rehearsal.

The art and the gift of sending, from mailbox to mailbox, a proper card, or even letter, is, in my opinion, of great importance and never going to be something we can do without in happy society. The card-makers among us, like Twins' Mom and sherinjoy, have a MEANINGFUL occupation in creating greetings.
Glad you were able to handle the chancy meeting so well, Twins' Mom, and know that's a relief. You are probably pretty good at chairing/leading an agenda.

Rice bags - do they make specifically dry heat or are any ever capable of moist heat? HRH has sinus pressure and says he wishes there was something more helpful than going back and forth to the sink to warm a washcloth for his forehead.
My ddad simply chose not to eat supper last evening, so I will be watching him carefully today. So far, his appetite seems normal and he seems to have forgotten whatever prompted him to refuse a meal.
School run and Morning Daily Card were done well and now it's time for outdoor chores.

What about a long, hot shower for HRH, Harriet? Or sitting by a warm humidifier? When I've had stuffed sinuses and headaches, I have found steam to be very helpful.
Harriet - I mix beans into my "rice bags" which I make in old tube socks. If you want wet heat simply dampen a washcloth and wrap it around the hot "rice bag" although I find that the dry heat on the back of my neck will actually help my sinuses. I know that sounds odd but it is all connected. I mix dry lavender into mine (buy the sachets at W al-mart) but if you have dry mint (perhaps from a couple of unused tea bags) you could mix it in with the beans and rice before you fill your sock and it would work great for the sinuses.

Phew, what a busy weekend! I got home yesterday afternoon and did nothing the rest of the day except take a nap. I was running running running, got less than my required 6-8 hours of sleep each night. Being the unofficial duty driver actually paid off though, I ended up receiving $60 for gas (from different people) and did not have to pay for any of my meals or coffee all weekend. I have a ton of admin work that I need to do for my department, and have to go to reserves again this weekend. Somewhere in the next two days I need to go to the College and take my final. I am off work until Wednesday.

Ds is out of bed this morning. Faxed off the doctors notes to the hospital and they will handle the rest of the unemployment insurance claim. No idea, if or when the money will arrive from the government. Before his next rent is due would be great.
His latest paycheque was more than he expected so that's another good thing.
My deep fryer is the kind that you store the oil in a container, inside the fryer and it has been leaking. At first, dh said that I put it away wrong (left a valve open.) The next time, the lid wasn't on tightly (we're guessing the warm oil popped the lid off) but this time everything was right and there's still some oil in the lid of a pan that is stored below the fryer. It isn't being stored completely level so that might be part of the issue. So now I need to empty out that cupboard, relocate stuff and come up with a way to store the fryer on the bottom shelf, level. I guess that will be my next task today. (Deep cleaning all the cupboards is a December task each year so, while unplanned for today, this isn't a terribly out-of-place distraction.
I suppose family, family, family, is the meaning behind my agenda (such as it is) for today. I want to whip this place into shape to be welcoming to those traveling in for the holidays.
Between all that needs to be done and the couple of pounds I gained this weekend, today, I'm keeping myself on track regarding steps. At the moment, I'm caught up enough to sit and have a break. The advantage to keeping myself moving is that things get done quickly -- I'm at 8 cards completed out of 27.
Sr. Orphans, Dee? Elderly with no family left? Congrats to your DGS on the hat trick! I doubt either of my kids will ever have a hat trick: dd's a defenseman, and DD just isn't that good.
Does your DD17 have to drive herself all the way in to Detroit, helia? Or does she drive to meet a bus somewhere?
Harriet, I find that when I heat rice bags, the heat is not fully dry; I don't know how to explain it, but neither is it exactly "moist," either. A couple on my face (one on each side -- they're the girls' old tube socks, so they're sort of small) did help when my sinuses were troubling me with this cold.

Made lunch for dh while he put the spare on, that was how he said I could help him. The spare is low so he told me to drive carefully if I drive that car to the tire place today. I did get a shower in and have kept laundry going (folded 1 old lol, 1 load of darks through dryer, another load ready to put into dryer), looked online for gifts for Mom and Dad. Have some ideas -- will sit on them for a while first. . . Devo. time -- except for prayer; I got interrupted by dh.
Mystery, dd17 needs to get herself to the church (other side of town) and a van of mostly youth group kids goes from the church every Monday night to Detroit.
