Going on an adventure -- I'm going to drive the car with the spare w/ low air to the tire store. Hopefully, I will get there safely, and the tire can be repaired in time for me to pick up the girls. . . I'm bringing my Heb. with me to work on in the shop or in a nearby Starbucks. . . .

Hello Dear Ladies,

Started Meaningful Monday with laundry. Still working away on that too. Got the sheets washed and put back on.

Am going over my budget for the month and grocery list. Have some extra dollars this month.

The news is always full of the bad things and complaints at Wal-mart so wanted to share with all of you some of the GOOD things. One is that in November and December, our discount card applies to all food items as well as merchandise. So, time to stock up on food.(Doesn't include food the rest of the year) Two, by working on Thanksgiving Day I got holiday pay as well as pay for working. Three, by working on Thanksgiving, the store rewarded us with a voucher for an additional 10% off one transaction. In other words, a whole cart or two gets 20% off. All of us at our WM are so excited.

And in the next paycheck we get a bonus which is usually equal to 50% of our pay.

Have done my walk and exercised today. The weather is quite windy, but warm. However temps are supposed to fall soon.

Back to work now.

Waving to all who posted since I last ran through. Decluttering "done" -- OK, nowhere near done, but I reached my target # of items. Lunch made, eaten, cleaned up. Wash flipped & folded; bags are hanging, ready for the girls to put away. I think I will attempt to see if I can get lights around the dining room window before picking up the girls (this involves an extension pole, as DH really needs to trim back the shrubbery!).

Sadie thanks for sharing the good news about working at Walmart. When I was there last week there was an announcement to the associates that the staff break room had a big spread of holiday foods laid out for them to enjoy in their breaks.

Got three cupboards reorganized. Gave up a number of water bottles (never used) and some foil pans. Pulling everything out and looking at it is a good exercise to see what one has. I forgot about a number of items including my layer cake pans. Now that the children are grown and I no longer have the day care, I don't do cakes for birthdays so don't use the pans.

I took dh on a tour of the new cupboards because I've moved all appliances into one and all baking things into the other (they were evenly split before.) This should be more logical since the baking things are now under my mixer (which is out on the counter) but before my baking things were in the same cupboard as my old, smaller, mixer and there is more counter space and it is closer to flour and sugar. Of course, I suppose the flour and sugar could move over to the cupboard above my new 'baking' counter. And I could learn to bake with less spreading out. We'll see.

I also watered the plants and potted some cuttings.

Played 3 games of Parcheesi with ds. He's been faxing work back and forth. The (corporately, not his immediate managers) want him back sooner so sent a form to his doctor asking why he can't come back. Sigh....

I went to put away the last of his clothes that I washed last night and the drawer was empty except for socks. He sweated through everything through the night, each time his fever goes up or down, he has major sweats. The room smells and he smells. I'll have to change the sheets again (did them last night.) He showered yesterday and says he doesn't have the energy to stand in the shower again. (Sound familiar - I remember saying that too.) He hates baths so that compromise didn't meet with agreement.

Anyway, laundry is in my future this evening.

I'm off for a nap now and then will go and get my blood work done.

I got sidetracked when looking at the recipe for the D ryel sheets, and then decided to wash the remaining (Dry-clean) lol on gentle w/ woolite but found that I was out, so I googled it and decided to use shampoo in the gentle cycle which is running now. I will dry them on low when Bert is done. I also filtered (twice) the reduced broth and portioned it into muffin tins, it is cooling before I put it in to Willie to flash freeze, I will then transfer the broth portions to a freezer bag. Looks like Agnes has not been run so I need to just load her and run her. I am going to see if I have some velcro to attach my clean/dirty magnet to the front of her since it won't attach on it's own.

Hi everyone! I had an eventful weekend. On Friday, I did my usual yarn store crocheting and on the way home was rear-ended, and hit the car in front of me. No one was injured, everyone had insurance. The good thing was that even though the EMTs predicted we would be sore today, I have only a small bruise from the seat belt. Saturday, I volunteered at the yarn bombing and got two free tickets to the River of Lights! Sunday I had DD10 and we went to church, ate at the potluck there, and got a present for her to give her dad on Christmas. After she left, I paid bills and updated Quicken.

Today, I got the estimate for the damages to my car and an appointment for them to fix it. I will need a rental for 3 to 5 days while they fix it, so I am working on arranging that.

Tonight I have to go out of my way to get cat food because the nearest place does not have any of what I need. (I took a long time to find food that would 'stick to Cleo's ribs', so changing is not advisable). Then I need to go to the grocery store. I will need to cook rice for lunches and find something for dinner. I will probably have to clean up after a sick cat again. I have to do some putting away for the maids on Wed. I've got to do something on the job search as well, yuck.

dd younger is awake after having a horrible bought of the stomach flu. still a little sore and her stomach still hurts but is having a bit of gatoraide which is a good sign.

the men came a bit late and are now sanding the stairs and front room. I am upstairs helping dd younger with a project for dd olders friend. This friend is trying to find ancestry information especially about his jewish faith and family. Unfortunately it seems much of the archives were lost in world war II during the holocaust I am sure. His family came to the U.S. in 1800's but had lots of family in austria area that we can't seem to connect to.

Yipes, Elizabeth, glad it was a small bump-up.

I read it here first - expectancy in the royal family - so I am just really out of the loop today. Well, in fairness to myself, I clicked on our regional newspaper's online site early this a.m. but was blocked by the malware software HRH put on the computer, so they must have been having some problems then. I also had their actual paper in my hand in the dark this morning before dawn, but that doesn't get it read, now does it.

Dd and I just got back from some errands, including getting her entry into an art contest mailed by the postmark deadline. At the last minute after prepping so carefully the exact dimensions, information in correct order, etc., I noticed they were also requiring a photograph of her suitable for printing. Sigh. So even though I don't think she really has a chance of placing, I do know that not including some random part of the requirements gives the judges a reason to kick one entry out when there are many, so we did that at the last minute. Scanned it since we will likely never see it again.

I also bought a sheet of Pixar character stamps for the Circle ladies at the church who send the cards to the sick. I really wanted something more serene, but the postmistress and dd were both insistent that this was PERFECT. Sigh. They don't know these ladies, but maybe they are right if you think in terms of the recipients.

When I do have time to reorder again, there's interesting news. The US Postal Service has read my mind. They are offering a variety pack of 20 different forever stamps, and every pack will have a different variety. How insightful.

My ddad has been alert and interested in everything, no nap, all through the day until now. This is exactly what happened yesterday and then he was (I think) too exhausted to eat supper. Perhaps I should offer supper early today... ...

... ....

And now back from doing that - I think it was the right thing. I need to be proactive when possible and get ahead of these little unhealthy things like missing meals, which I know from experience can snowball for an elderly person.

Tonight at 9 eastern is the first of the new season of Hoarders, if anyone cares. I'm still one who holds the remote tightly when I watch - usually recorded for even more control. The emotional scenes are hard television. But sometimes there is value in the cleaning/reconstruction of the home or the organizers' strategies for decluttering. It can sometimes inspire.

Best wishes for Harriet's dd's art entry!! Exciting!! We've asked dd17's art teacher re: contests, and he doesn't seem to do that, but there may be a special exhibit somewhere at some point -- or something. Very vague, yes. . .

-take dd14 to the school early for synch. swim. practice, 5:30 - 6:00 or so; then she has a band rehearsal 6:30 - 8:30. . .
-go to Heb class
-home; meet dh and go out with him on a" hot date?" LOL!
