I love fun names like that. I worked for a credit company once and I had a customer that was always calling in with funny names to check. Like Merry Berry, merry Christmas, Jerry Berry...cindy for Cinderella, no joke. On and on it went. My favorite was Gardinia Rose who married a bush so she became Gardinia Rose Bush...I am not making this up. My best friend's last name was Gaynor and she married a fellow named Raynor so she became Claire Gaynor Raynor. Love it
We teachers have many funny names tucked in our memories...bet Lucylee has a few. I once had a girl named Qtissa. When I asked where her name came from, her mom said she named her after the q-tips and tissues sitting on her hospital night stand after Q had been born. I had an other girl who's name was La-yah. Her mother was always having fits because we were calling the young girl by the wrong name... I can still hear her yelling..My daughter's name is la dash yah, la dash yah...the - is NOT silent!!!

Scattered: I'm not a minister but Sunday services are so busy for me, that Sunday isn't a real day of rest, so I take my Sabbath from lunch Tuesday to lunch on Wednesday (that way I'm only unavailable two half days rather than one full day.) BTW: I love the story about your ds20's name!

I'm back from my afternoon out. Left in sunshine and 70 degrees. While in the second store the sky went dark, the temperature dropped to the 50s and it started to rain hard. A soaking rain. Oh well, my hair looked fabulous this morning!
I picked up a few things for the kids' stockings and some more groceries. Sat for a long time at lunch and got 5 devotions done which is progress (I'm so far behind it is worrying me, but I'm now reading the book of Daniel straight through so that makes it easier since I don't have to figure out context each time I start a reading.
Ds wants to play a game now so I'll do that. It is 5:30 and I haven't had a nap yet - maybe I'll make it through (I have had two cans of coke.)
Dgd likes to feed the chickens at noon when she's here and today she helped me clean out the nest boxes so we could put fresh straw in them. Trying to get some of this done before the cold weather comes the end of the week here.
Dgson will be working on spelling math and reading if he remembers his home work after school.
I found a couple of books and one was a re-read for me today it was good to have time for that.
The Shawn/Jean/John name talk reminds me of John Luke and that the Duck Dynasty Christmas Special comes on tomorrow night. I am so ready for some sitting around the family table and prayer.
As Larry the Cable Guy would say, "I apologize, I really do.", for even mentioning Hoarders was coming back from hiatus last evening. The new episode was some kinda sad, so sad. Interestingly, the older episode aired right before it had 2 success stories, just the end of which I caught. So I found and watched that and felt better about it. BUT, I noticed an online correction from Hoarders today that the less-sad half of last night's program was mis-narrated at the end. That (blonde artist) lady has indeed kept items from coming back into her house and kept her appointments with organizer and therapist, so it was supposed to be narrated with a much happier ending.
Except for chasing my constantly morphing errands I feel I haven't had a successful day, possibly because I didn't sleep well. At 6:50 a.m. after the school run I fell back into bed and HRH let me sleep a while, while he took care of my ddad's early morning. It seems as though the day never got a correct restart. I've got to get on my game, because he has an early day tomorrow. Like ellyphant says, this prettier weather will be gone tomorrow, so I feel doubly disappointed. In 48 hours our temp will have dropped 24 degrees.

Last Mon. on American Pickers they went to a town across the River from us in Lewiston, Idaho a place where a known hoarder lived it was so awful but good to know that the person was now in a home after falling and broke their hip and the show was filmed in the summer.
[I can't watch hoarder's it's too icky.] I wish they had shows like Peter Walsh used to have on still where it seemed like folks actually got help.
h. got the trash to the curb this morning. The chickens are enjoying the smaller bale of straw with scratch and oats on top of it for a change in their routine.
I got some unopened side walk chalk for dgd to enjoy when the weather is nice here again.
DH & dd are still at school working on the float. 6:30pm! 2 more days till the parade
I'm pecking here as I have wrist brace on. My wrist is really bugging me. Can barely drive right now. But I'm on my own I'm afraid. GD has early dismissal tomorrow so will have to get her myself. They have ED each month. DD's school does not.
Dsonil got a call today from the neurosurgeon's office. According to his GP a neuro wouldn't see him. Something's really goofy. She's the one who referred him -can't get in till Jan 8 though. GP told dsil the other day that he's fine and could go back to work. ????? Not hardly -he can barely walk. He's already lost his job because of this problem. She wouldn't do his papers for disability and dismissed him, supposedly. Have a feeling she may have been looking at the wrong records and is now back peddling.
I am home and tired tonight. I'm considering trying to beg off from the client meeting tomorrow - the partner wants me to meet with her and the client. I've just had a such a busy three days that I'm really craving down time tomorrow, and going to the office to get ready and then meet would really break up my day. Thursday is another work day, plus a dr appt for dmom plus a meeting in the evening. I'm thinking I might skip the Thursday night meeting. I have to carve out time for myself somewhere right now.

I'm still up although starting to really slow down. Ds is still up too, despite not sleeping last night. That's the prednizone acting on him. At least it is only for 6 days in total, one dose a day, 3 days full (but small) dose and then tapering off.
The kitchen is cleaned up from dinner, dishwasher is ready to run after the laundry has had its turn, I've stripped and remade ds' bed (again, sigh....) and there's a load of laundry on and a second on the tarmac, waiting to take off.
AFter picking LO up from school...
** took LO for hair cut.
** picked up pizza and took to DParents
** visited with DParents. Today was a good day for DDaddy. So good to hear his voice strong enough to talk almost like I remember he used to sound. >>>Treasured moments<<<
** took LO to "help" DH at MPB for an hour. LO loves to do this. He came home with his pockets full of "tip" money from customers.
** bought fixin's to make gingerbread houses (using graham crackers as the wall/roof). Along with a variety of candies, coconut flakes, pretzels, etc to use as decoration
** Made/served supper. Cleaned up kitchen
** helped LO with homework and read book to him.
I'm on the mend. I did take dd14 to her oboe lesson late this afternoon; I went to my cafe and ordered tea -- but did not drink it.
I have eaten 2 pieces of toast w/jelly and a little applesauce today. I have succeeded in drinking more of the gatorade; dh was adamant that I keep drinking. I don't naturally feel thirsty and don't drink enough. When I've been sick, I'm even worse, and he knows that. I don't want to drink (or eat) anything for fear of getting sick again AND b/c my tummy often still feels queasy. However, it is impossible to tell if queasiness is from dehydration or not. . . . I am not feeling so queasy anymore = so I think it was to some extent.
Dh has been so wonderful; he cleaned up after me when I was sick last night, got me some gatorade last night and some more before he left for work today, and he came home from work and cleaned up the kitchen, which I hadn't gotten to yesterday b/c of Heb - and then feeling ill - or today b/c I was horizontal all day. He checked in with me before I took dd14 to her oboe lesson to make sure I was OK doing that. And every time he talked to me, he was asking how much I had drunk and was pushing fluids. . . He also made supper for himself and the girls.
I took a nap after supper, and I'm now off to the groc. store. I'm going to get some basics and some other food I think I'd like to eat; I'll actually go back tomorrow. I don't know if I'm strong enough to do a big shopping trip right now, so I am going to go 2x in a row.
I'm supposed to make cookies for the teacher appreciation lunch tomorrow. I'm going to get stuff for that too. . Though, I may just buy already made cookies. We'll see how I feel tonight.
As you may have noticed, I don't get sick very often. It certainly is no fun. ((HUGS)) to those of you who are not feeling well.
