Scattered...I have to agree, it sounds to me like its a kids thing. Obviously whoever they are knew where everything was in your house. What would bother me the most is knowing they were downstairs while you were asleep. Bet they didn't know you were home either.

Nancy...Thanks for asking. I will tell you my suggestions but think I will put it under the Organization Skills topic. I don't want to take up a lot of space here. That way anyone can read it if they so choose. My first suggestion would be to change the consequences and set up a reward system. Use playing Spring ball as the reward and let him earn it. Also, you need to write up a contract between his parents and your grandson and post it in a public place at his home...like on the refrig. I'll explain how to set it up. There needs to be a meeting between you, since you are involved with his caretaking, his parents, and dgs. The rules, rewards and consequences need to be mutual. The contract needs to go one week at a time...this is about all your dgs can comprehend. There needs to be daily rewards and consequences as well as weekly ones. Perfection is NOT the goal. None of us are perfect so we shouldn't expect our kids to be as well. Also, no more bring his home work, lunch or gym stuff to school after he has left home. He is old enough to be responsible for these things and once adults "rescue" him from these situations the habit becomes very hard to break.

I am looking forwards to sleeping in tomorrow. I have two MRI's set up for Tue. One for my brain...yep, that what it is and one for my spine. That should be interesting. I had the gal who call me about the appointment laughing on the phone. She asked me if I had any metal in my body. I told her yes pins in my toe and a belly button ring. However I told her it was so small that I didn't expect it to cause me to be sucked up into the machine.

Back from dinner. It was nothing special, we like our other fish and chip place WAY better.

Dh swapped tambourines (the reason we were in that area.) The new one doesn't have the company logo on it and has a better tone.

We shopped for sew on snaps but ended up with velcro that was adhesive or sew-on according to the package but gummed up my machine something awful so that was a delay while I got out the goo-gone and cleaned that up. Only one side is sewn, the other will have to be hand sewn later, I have no time tonight.

I'm printing off more newsletters so I can do my share tomorrow. I'm only doing the colour page but it takes ages to print each one so I'll be up 'late' (after 10.) Dh tried to make me go to bed at 8:50. Yes I have to be up at 6 a.m. tomorrow but I refuse to try and go to bed at 9 after napping in the afternoon. I'd just lie worrying about all the stuff I need to do rather than just doing it now.

Dh said he was going to bed without me, then, but is still up now almost an hour later.

I have a load of laundry almost done in the dryer. Never did get the laundry hanging in the basement folded and put away. At the very least, I should bring up some underwear for tomorrow.

OKay - I have 3 storage bins waiting to be unpacked with all my decorations. Check out Targe' especially after Christmas they usually go on sale.

Had a great evening with DP/BFF and Family, she made me wear my fuzzy PJ's and house slippers over. We had pizza and watched MIB3. Now home and trying to watch the original Miracle on 32nd street colorized of course, kinda hard to watch since we have to play it through a laptop and DS13 is practicing for his District Band Tryouts tomorrow. Trying to listen to a movie with a sax in the same room is tough. Now I'm at DS20 as he fights the tree to put it together.

On a positive note I figured out why I had a string of lights out (we have a pre-lite tree). When DS20 was little and he figured out about Christmas trees he refused to allow a real tree in the house because that meant someone had "killed" the tree. We have had a fake tree ever since. Unfortunately when we set-up the tree last year there was a string out but I did not have the time, patience, or energy to figure out why. Decided to troubleshoot it tonight and discovered that apparently DCat1 decided to have a snack (she has a love of wires and plastic bags ), well I found the two halves of wire and was able to splice them together. They work like a charm now.

Have to go to bed here shortly as I have reserves in the morning.

Oh, I almost forgot, I had a call from a gentleman at the Nursing Agency, he wanted to conduct a telephone interview. I explained that the police had just left and that I had been robbed, he was very understanding and asked me to call him Monday.

Had to talk to Mother again today will post in J&C.

Cowinkie, good luck with the MRI's. Loud noise in your ears; DH did a rendition of what it sounded like when he had his. Had us laughing on the way home. Hoping your results are way better than his was.

Kathryn, I gummed up my machine one time awfully bad trying to sew on cub scout patches which had adhesive backs onto the uniform. Oh my what a mess. Eventually I threw that needle away. Did them by hand but I kept having to clean off the needle I was hand-sewing with.

The Christmas party was lovely, informal, friendly with people we all know but many we only get to see once a year... Lots of good conversation. We're all aging, and the changes range from comical to sad. One lady this past year had had a stroke, fell and broke her hip and arrived with her walker...and it was sad to see her like that. I told my friend if she kept having these parties every year sooner or later we'd all be coming in with our walkers, canes and wheelchairs. A few people asked DH about his limp which is pretty pronounced now.

I got some laundry folded up, and a lot of pick-up. DH has work to do tomorrow and we've decided if we can attend that wedding we will but not spend the afternoon there. It's a wedding/pot luck/dance on the grounds, but we don't have the time for all that. I'm much relieved DH agreed with me about that.

Off to sew for a bit.

((scattered's sons)) are certainly having a lousy day, but what a rare blessing that the police could really have a chance at getting the items back in this situation - so often there is not much chance. High hopes for your household.

Just had a wonderful time getting to finally watch the recorded Duck Dynasty Christmas Special. (I can't believe it takes so long to find an hour anywhere on my calendar) I laughed and laughed. "Phil, I've told you, no chainsaws in the house." Dd14's psychology class is studying gender roles and it is kinda a downer, noting all the ways/times gender roles have been oppressive, and they've watched a few movie clips to illustrate. They should watch that special to lighten the mood. Hey.

ellyphant, as far as an accent, no I don't catch much of one either - that's interesting. In fact, Godwin sounds just like several on my Daddy's side of the family here. HRH says there are too many Louisiana accents to suppose there would be one distinguishing one for the state. But then, a telephone order the other day finished with the lady commenting to me, "Oh, I love your accent." And I don't have an accent at all. Mr. Harmony knows this - he's heard me; no accent at all.

I've been thinking what the music should be at our family Christmas party. There was a good DVD playing at the Tractor Supply; I might call and ask them what that was. But actually, as I watched that special tonight, I started thinking maybe I'll just let that recording play on the tv. The menfolk always complain about my music, so that would be a compromise, lol.

At the Tractor Supply I found a toy with a jon boat on a trailer hitch. Talk about perfect. It's just a matter of which toddler boy's daddy will like it best that will decide who gets it. .... Maybe I'd better go back and get another one.

OKay I was just so disappointed one Christmas when I discovered a mouse had gotten into some decorations. All of the textile type things went straight into Rubbermaid right then. But they are only things.

Booksaver I too had dreams of classmates last night; they were going to a sea side cafe' I could not eat and was going else where and recognized the back ground of the photo in other places in my dream strange to dream of pictures in a dream!

I'm back upstairs from some mom cave time helped me to refocus today. Winds have been howling out and now it's raining and snowing all around us at the higher elevations.

Got chickens on sale today at the store I need to decide if I'm going to cook 'em or freeze them.

sewing is done. Calling it complete. Spent ages unpicking when garment called for something different. Not perfect by any means. My machine started looping stitches so I'll need to look at that before I start anything else.

time for lunch - then I need some relax time. Or maybe do some yoga to get the kinks out of my neck back etc.

LOL, Harriet. About accents...yes, there are many differences within a state. Relatives of mine in the hills and foothills of NC sound completely different from DH's relatives who hail from "down east". Up here above the Mason-Dixon line, I'm always being told that I have a southern accent. Back home in NC, they say I have lost my accent. It comes back to me though, if I spend a week down there! I'm sure you are right that you have no accent!
