DH got the tree tops that split off on 2 trees and landed across the driveway, sawed up and moved off the driveway. He went up our 1/4-long driveway and threw off small branches, too. When he got the mail, as he was coming in through the sliding glass door, it was snowing! Then it quit. The weather report said that it can snow down to sea level and we're about 200 feet or 150 feet here at our house. They haven't said it's going to stick, but some places will have snow and some won't. Some places it might quickly melt and others won't. In the mountains yesterday they got 30"!

Looked for Cold Care teas and found them on the eating bar shelves where I have them displayed. (I decided to use tea for a cold instead of medicines.)
I put 2 flat unfolded cardboard boxes for shipping, away because kitty cat kept rubbing her lips on the corners, to scratch her itch. I didn't want her to start chewing off pieces as she's been known to do with boxes from the store.

If it does snow and stick between now and Christmas and also between our Dson's home 2 1/2 - 3 hours away and DD's home 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours away, we'll postpone Christmas to a better weather day. In 2008 we had 28" at our house of snow so Dson came on New Year's Day and DD came on a couple days past Christmas. We're a very flexible family, so it doesn't matter to us, as long as we can get together and enjoy one another's company. ♥

Kathryn, I feel badly for your family members who were robbed! It must be so frustrating for them and maddening, too. Thank God guns were not involved because home invasion robberies are starting to take a violent direction, in our half of the state. I hope they get their i. d. quickly. No time is a good time for this, but at Christmas it just makes it evil!

Hello everybody. I came here hoping to be cheered up.

Tough day. I guess we all have them.

Started out ok.

Harriet, I did NOT invite this crowd to the house. I would just as soon live in a cave all by myself than have 60 kids and adults here. DH invited the youth group for a bon-fire. The new leaders turned it into a Christmas party. I didn't know about the gifts until I read it in the program Sun morning. DH didn't know either, but everybody else did. It's just another time of his not getting details. He does this all the time because I don't attend their services with him. He doesn't know times or dates or details about anything. I don't get involved, except of course if they are swarming on my house.

I was not comfortable with any of it. I was claustrophobic. They all came in to the family room where an older lady read a story from the Bible (they sat on the floor, it was a sea of people) and I had moved the love seat and recliner way back as much as I could. They all wore pajamas and had prizes over that too.

But today I attempted to start over, but lost at least 5 YES 5 hours over one statement. I am beyond stressed right now and I don't know if DH and I will ever speak again. It's simply awful.

Going to go eat something and try to settle down.

OKay, how is your DB who had the shoulder operation?

Just got a text message from dd that her passport should be ready at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Only $70 extra to get the rush delivery. Thank goodness.

Choir went well. I'm really disappointed with the hymn choices and blessing for Christmas Eve but it isn't my service. I just know, knowing the music chosen, I would choose to attend a different church if I wasn't singing at this one.

Just spent a nice skype call with dd's godparents. We will not be getting together for New Years but will be together on the 27th.

So that's settled. We'll be alone on New Years so might take off somewhere. Or hibernate.

No time to really post... school was fine today, except for the faculty meeting that was called @ 2:00 pm and was only to be "5 MINUTES." Yeah... more like 30 minutes... and the main purpose was to tell us that for the foreseeable future ALL entrances to the school will be locked and visitors will have to be cleared at main entrance by administrator or designated person. That part is fine. I am very glad to hear that part.
Second part... not so much... like Dee's dd, we will now be keeping our classroom doors locked at all times. D*not dear* asst principal instructed us to NEVER leave students alone in our classrooms, even if we go to sign in in the mornings. Come in, unlock door, put your stuff down in your room, lock door, go to office (which is in sight of my doorway, I might add) go back to room, unlock door, stay at door. All during class periods... all doors are to be locked at all times. Student has to use restroom? If we cannot convince student to WAIT, then we must unlock door, lock door, student returns, unlock door, lock door. * sheesh * A little bit of an over-reaction, perhaps. I mean, in the mornings, the students who are in my homeroom "unattended" are super good, responsible, high school seniors. This virtually puts us on lockdown all day every day. I kinda worry that our students may rebel at the feeling that they are being punished rather than protected.
OTOH... the life it saves could be my own, right?
I kept thinking, oh my goodness, if this were to happen at my school, my obituary would read: "She was an idiot. WHY WHY WHY didn't she retire last year???"

So... school stuff to do now... and it is 9:30 pm...
We have spent over $400 @ CVS & Wmart today... trying to buy groceries for next week so as to avoid shopping on Christmas Eve, plus bought some Christmas presents... still nothing wrapped around here... ... and I only mention the $$$ b/c as y'all can imagine, it also involved a great deal of TIME to do that amount of shopping... and then more time to put it all away... * THANK GOODNESS DH IS SO OCD ABOUT DOING MOST OF THIS HIMSELF! * and THEN... I went w/him to dmil's, where we were about ready to leave when ds & dgs drove up... soooo... stayed to visit with them a bit... and FINALLY ate supper around 8:00. * whew *

Well... no progress on school stuff or anything else... EXCEPT * drum roll *
I did 15 minutes of movement... walked away the pounds for 15 minutes (while watching Cake Boss. How ironic is that?)
I know... 15 minutes is barely worth noting, but this is DAY ONE -- after a LONG, LONG period of doing absolutely NOTHING that could be termed "exercise" (except my 5 minute wake-up routine in the mornings.)
So... DAY ONE. Hooray for me.

Got four eggs today yea!
My girls we're taking a break; no lights on them until now. Dh is just did not bother with hooking up the light in Sept. when we got the other chickens. So they quickly stopped laying. But with the additional hens he got right out there an put up the light up it's in the run instead of the coop b/c they are out there more than in the coop at this point.
No there is not enough light for them to be laying on their own now.

[I noticed the squires getting frisky and roos trying to mate with the hens we figured it was time!]

We got the other nest boxes were adapted that used to be cupboards in a kitchen across the street I got for free! They had to have the ledge put on to keep eggs from rolling out. Then we cut the chicken door in the coop formally the playhouse this weekend too.

{Dgd took it well that the chickens were in there now. Mostly b/c her kitchen play fridge table and toys are in the basement.}

It's not really cold enough for them to need the coop yet here. It was 38* here last night. Wish me luck getting them to use the other doors!

Yes every one was excited about the eggs grand kids wanted to hold them hubby had to make sure the chickens all went back in so he could close them in for the night when he got home from work! One of the young ones I had here before might be laying I'm SO excited!!!

We still need to make a roosting area and loft chicken ladder so will be thinking how to do that next hoping to figure out how to use some branches from the trees I have here. Of course h. has other ideas! LOL!
Will ask dgson what he thinks as well.
