FINAL FRIDAY -NOT

Post by DeeClutter »

So, you all have to get up and get going today! But it IS the shortest day and the days start getting longer after today -nice thought.

Have to run in a minute to gd to school. Dh finally pounded on her door 5 minutes ago because she still wasn't up! Oh well -she's a teenager.

Ellyphant, we went to see the same show on our way to FL. Amazing! Now dh would like to go to Branson this fall to see the Christmas show. We'll see. We're thinking about going back to PA to see Noah this next summer.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Ah, good morning Dee. Thanks for starting us off. Final Friday. . . yes, indeed!

Girls are off to school - last day before break. I've drunk my tea. I have a full day ahead of me, especially since yesterday got co-opted by social get-togethers. Fun, but I need to finish shopping TODAY. We are celebrating Sinterklaas. .. tomorrow!

My day:
-WW 9:30; I can't stay for the entire meeting. I know I have gained, which is why it's especially important to go today.
-library
-bank?
-10:35 ds has dermatology appt. He wants me to go to this one with him; once he gets set up with the acne drug, I'm hoping he'll be OK to go to his check ups on his own. He is now legally an adult after all.
-finish shopping; I need to buy 4 more items: (1) sweater for ds, (2) hoodie (plain - no brand names) for dd17. She will not wear clothes w/ brand names emblazoned across the front. (3) journal/notebook for ds - I bought each kid what I found to be a flexible, thoughtful, and do-able Bible study guide when I was at Univ. It is hard to find good materials for young people; this book requires a journal/notebook to write out answers and thoughts. (4) And. . some specialty coffee for dh; he is somewhat of a "coffee snob," uses only specialty whole beans, a burr grinder, and a press pot. If I can buy just $10 worth, that will be his shoe gift tonight. I don't know if that is possible.
-tidy living areas b/c dd17 invited her small group over this afternoon. She told me last night. They'll have to take care of their own snacks. I don't have time to make/buy something for them.
-wrap?
-exercise?
-dd14 to school at 5:10 for synch. practice
-out to eat and then off to movie with dh and ds, meeting dfriend B and her entire family at the theater! :D

Off to work on the a.m. routine before I leave.

It is snowing! We have a little dusting on the ground. I don't think we're supposed to get much and the high is supposed to be 34, but this looks a bit more Christmas-y!

Good morning! Dee, as one who suffers from a bit of seasonal depression when the days get shorter, I love it when they start getting longer again, even if I don't notice the difference until April 15th.

Today I am paying for my lollygagging yesterday, but I don't regret it. I really have plenty of time to do all that I need to get done. I did get a phone call from work about an issue later yesterday afternoon when I was already in a meeting, so I need to deal with that this morning on top of some other things. I have have some errands to do for my dmom.

PODA:
-movie at 12:30 with dd
-services tonight at temple, then dinner at friends' house back on the mtn where we lived
-call and try to deal with work issue. I don't think it's something that has to be done today or Monday so it may be better for tax manager in charge to take care of it next week since she is the one who communicated with client on this issue.
-bank for me and for dmom (I am a co-owner of her account so need to cash a check for her)
-groceries
-bake challah to take tonight

I think most of the other stuff could be pushed off to the weekend or Monday, or even next week for some. With a long movie in the middle of the day today, it limits my available time. I also need to start challah early to get it baked before the movie, and time my errands while challah is busy in the breadmaker.

So for the first round:
-get dressed for the day
-make the bed
-straighten MBR
-clear kitchen counters and table
-call the office at 8:30

After this, I will start challah and take off for grocery store and bank.

The wind has been howling through our doggie door fail. The ddogs never figured out that they could go through it on their own; it's locked in place now but still lets air in.

Good morning!

I wrapped all the gifts yesterday. I always save the odd extra paper pieces and use them to wrap the stocking stuffers. Once I was done with gifts and stocking stuffers, I realized that I still needed to wrap the gifts that I had bought for dd2s dsils children.

I went to bed earlier than normal with a chill and feeling nauseous, but woke up this morning feeling ok.

I need to get a shower and then continue working on the grocery list. I usually go to the store early on the 23rd, so that I don't have to set foot in a store until at least the 27th. With the 23rd being on a Sunday, I will still go early and get the last minute items I may need. Today I will be buying the bulk of what I need. So I guess I better get something ironed to wear, a shower and finish that list, so I can tackle the shopping.

Thank goodness they had asked someone else to take care of the issue at work. I have started challah and am heading out to grocery.

Will be interesting to see if dd gets up in time to go to movie today. :?

Am planning to walk ddogs later. They are watching me expectantly.

First of all, we haven't heard from Lynlee or LisaB so how do we know the world hasn't ended?!

Secondly, dang! Now I have to write a sermon and get ready for Christmas!

Heavy, heavy, snow here. School buses are canceled. Airport is running pretty well on time at the moment but it will get worse as the day progresses since deicing a plane takes so long and the delays will snowball (pun intended!) Police are asking people to stay off the roads which are messy but not impassable thanks to wonderful snow clearing crews.

It is very pretty if you don't have anywhere to go.

I'm up. Didn't work out since I'm planning to walk/snowshoe to the store and to deliver party invitations this afternoon.

Dinner is planned and we have lots of food in the house.

My goals for the day are two-fold - continue with Christmas decorating (I need to get the incoming cards hung up since they are piling up all over the place and the tree will go up today since I'll be very busy with errands once the storm ends and the roads are cleared. Secondly, it is heavy housework day and the last one before Christmas and the entertaining. Thirdly, I need to get the basement bedroom set up for ds since his sister gets the upstairs bedroom. Actually, I guess I should ask them who wants which. Finally, I'm going to do laundry all day in order to get it all finished (also to clear up time for

Good morning, villagers ~

Tried to send a post earlier, but the site gave SQL error and wouldn't let me in.

Yesterday our power flickered off several times during the day and then went out altogether last night. We were very pleasantly surprised and grateful when they got it back on relatively soon, just a little over 2 hours later.

I missed the computer yesterday but had plenty to do without it.

DH took a chance and left for work at normal time this morning. I'm still waiting for a text or Email to say he got there ok. Weather report said no more snow, but high winds so it is blowing and drifting. It usually only takes him half an hour, but it has been an hour and a half.

Oh, he just sent a note. He said the drive didn't take that long, but he had not realized that his phone needed to be charged so he had to wait before he could text.

So we will wait until late this afternoon before deciding whether to risk driving to DMIL's (an hour north) for her pizza party. I heard that they got 4 inches more snow than we did, but the plows will take care of it quickly. I'm just concerned about the wind polishing the slippery roads, and driving up and back after dark. Will check the DOT site for accident reports around 4.

The dryer is buzzing, must go hang up that load.

According to her FB posts, my DD#1 in Western IL has a rough night. Or at least the surrounding countryside did - she was home with all the kiddies in a warm house. At least one school bus didn't make it to deliver kids home from early closing and many motorists were stranded on the highway. Police were calling for snowmobiles to help rescue them. The high school was turned into a rescue center as people were brought in off the road. No injuries - just cold, hungry and scared. Cell phones helped as help could be summoned and rescue points identified. AH! winter in the Midwest!!

I was glad I had chili in the freezer last night so I didn't have to cook. DH picked up the house and put away all the craft supplies. Think he was bored.

Today I want to go to the grocery store early before it gets crowded. I am making sweet potatoes and a mince pie for Christmas dinner, so need to get those supplies. I don't like the marshmallow type of sweet potatoes - so will make my kind with a bit of OJ and some nutmeg.

I also want to stop at the quilt shop to see if they have any holiday fabric. I need to decorate a red and a green sweatshirt for the holidays. I had some beautiful ones back in the stick house but they were too bulky to store in the RV to wear only once a year. Now that we have a house again - I can store them with the decorations.
