Lilac - IMHO friends share life's difficult moments. If we only shared the good times, it wouldn't allow us to grow. I totally agree with Cowinkles comments on strong boundaries. I read a book about boundaries by Henry Cloud and it helped me (I need to read it again because I'm always sliding back into old habits)

LO parents are a no show today. I txt them to find out where they were and was told they aren't coming. I feel bad for DGS15. He was going to spend the night with his mother for the first time in 5 years. They might come tomorrow. Yup.....I think it is time for me to read the boundary book again.

I have gotten a chance to totally relax - dh has been working like crazy on getting things done: dishes, duds and straightening the front room after our Christmas holiday.

today: is money day for me - seeing what I spent and pay bills. also making today: menu planning and a monthly planning goal for the next year (big basics).
Tomorrow dkids go to Florida to spend time with dmom for New years.

Had an argument with dd17. Bleh. It was over something so silly too, though I think at the root she is irritated that I'm irritated that she has started just plopping down and using my laptop whenever she wants w/out asking b/c hers is broken. She does get up when I ask her to, but she is always on the computer -- writing stories, actually, so a good healthy activity. But still, she is monopolizing my laptop, and I don't want to be put in the position to keep asking her to get off whenever I want to check email, etc. I suppose I should check less often. OTOH, it would be very nice if she asked me first. Maybe I need to read about boundaries too. . . She has gone over to B and N where dh is meeting his friend.

I think dh has read that boundaries book, OK. In fact, I think it is on our bookshelf somewhere.

3:00 dining room put away, table cleared. dh makes me laugh as he doesn't realize he is a collector of his toys (tools etc) that he wants to keep out to see, (each item is in a neat line). so he agreed to put things in the hutch not to be seen but still be there. He had a good little group going.

Next put away in the kitchen

Dd17 walked in the door and immediately apologized for being rude to me. I apologized too. She has the shortest fuse of my kids but is also the best at apologizing, kind of like dh. Not perfect, but a good kid overall. Ds looked at her computer and fixed whatever problem she was having so she no longer needs to borrow mine.

I downloaded and gave dd17 2 albums that dsisil (in Europe) bought for her but sent links to me. Ds helped me a little with that too; I borrowed his USB key.

I have checked online bills, paid the credit card, gave away some $$ -- but just heard from dh that we need to remember to give away more due to payments from one of his start up companies. SO, I'll do that next to get it done. We tithe over extra income, i.e. other than salary, to a specific missionary family in Japan.

Dh went for a run -- in the 26* stormy conditions. The storm isn't too extreme, but it is still snowing and it is also blowing. Dh is one focused and driven man.

very quiet around here today. The phone hardly rang at all.

I have been at my desk for way too long. I did get December's payroll just about wrapped up. Discovered a problem, don't know what I was thinking or what I did this past year with one of the taxes. I looked at the whole year and was way ahead with payments. It will work out in the long run because there is an extra fee to pay at the end...but good grief. Anyway, got that all straightened out and I'm movin' on to bigger and better things!

Maybe I'll go see about dinner now.

Dog and husb. are napping. We had a huge downpour for a few minutes with a bunch of wind, and I had to rehang a whole bunch of clothes that blew around. They should be ready to bring in now.

Lilac, I had to look back at what I said I was trying to do the day before our trip. Yep! That was a bunch, but I got it all done, though I was up till 3 in the morning! Next Christmas is gonna be different, if I have to start in July!

Home from the trip - posted in J&C already. I think I was away from home for six hours - a little more than four of that was travel, and I only visited for 30 minutes per their "regulations" although dsis was done talking to me either way. I stopped off for fast food lunch and gas, and picked up dog meds at vet as I came back into town.

Dh is home early and I had a little cry with him. I just feel wretched tonight.

* cleaners -- AAUGUGUHHHH!!! The ironing lady is quitting!!! Cleaners will press, of course, but it will cost more. I may have to learn to manage my time a little better. DH is willing to pay... but * sheesh * where does it end? If I did it myself, I could probably save enough $$ to justify cost of smart phone.
* grocery store -- for 8 bananas -- we bought everything else we "had to" have last week
* CVS -- swapped hair color -- dmom, daunts, all agreed w/me that my first selection was going to be too dark
* home... read the paper... worked Suduko...
* talked to dparents on phone
* talked to dmil on phone
* discarded half dozen magazines
* watered plants
* emptied humidifier

Maybe going to movie tonight w/dh & dbro... ddil is working and ds will be home w/dgs.

Need to get back on track w/routines... well... need to get on track to begin with -- can't really say I've ever done very well with this.
Need to finish balancing checkbook/statement.
Need to finish grading exams.
Need to put on a warmer sweater before we go out tonight! I think I saw some snowflakes earlier!!!
