Oh, I appreciate the knowledge of exactly when the New Year came to you, Lynlee! I think of you as just up the road. Perhaps when LisaB peeked in on us this a.m. it was actually the time of her New Year moment? Hmmm.... .... I would have to be more awake to figure that out. But Happy New Year as each one reaches the time.
Twins's Mom, I knew you would turn out to be a blessing to the situation - you probably kept a hassle from happening with the power company, or even kept a pipe from freezing, maybe, or some other time-consuming problem.
Ivy, Twins' Mom is the mom of twins and her husband their dad, so we sometimes call him "Twins' Dad" here.
Like OKay, tomorrow is a day for healthy eating for me, but also I want to limit sodium and sugar today. I know that tomorrow morning I'll probably make a note of weight and possibly even measurements, so I'd sure like to get to write down the best numbers I can, lol.
I am trying to keep dd14 on task today - the problem is there are a lot of tasks. She got a call from a friend mentioning her present, and in likelihood I should take her to find that friend a present as well. It does make sense, we just neglected it in so much prep, and this is the friend with the mentally handicapped little sister, so we have in the past purchased a little something she could hold and open, too, if we ever gave to the older sister. Dd's clothes washing is behind schedule. She needs to continue with school prep and her room needs attention.
Btw, church friends were very encouraging to dd yesterday as many take the newspaper. The newspaper spread was laid out in the fellowship hall and many friends gathered around it to give their "critiques" (smile) and congratulate dd.
If you don't believe in miracles, you're not being realistic.
Good morning! Wishing you all a wonderful day, A happy New Year evening and most of all a Happy, very Healthy, Prosperous and peace filled year!
dh asked me to bring meals to d mil - I had to say no, and I am okay with that, as he had asked me last night. I will make meals for her after i go shopping but not in new years craziness and I have nothing planned. It has taken a long time to say I can't for right now but later would be perfect.
KATHRYN, thank you for reaffirming that point. I feel guilty but I am holding my ground. Dd1 had called to see if I had heard from dd2. I told her I was not going to go out there. Dd1 is laid up with her back hurting for the 3rd day, so she is off the hook. Dd2 called just after dd1 and I had hung up. They have moved the procedure up to 10:30. She told her ex that she didn't know if she would make it because of needing someone to babysit. I asked her when her dh had went to work and she said right before she called me. Then she decided to call him and see if he could wait to go to work. I haven't heard from her, so I am guessing that he will come back. They made the decision to move out there and if they were in town it would not be an issue, I could and would go babysit. It all comes down to I don't want to drive out there and I don't want to be driven out there. I am just a chicken when the highway is bad.
Yesterday I changed plans and did not go to the movie so I could babysit. When I got home, dh had not showered because he figured I wouldn't be available to go out to eat, so he was watching movies. I ended up picking up T aco B ell of all things. Dh's choice. I was more than happy to not go to the movie or out to eat, so that I could help her. But I just can't take a chance in this bad weather. Period. The. End.
Good morning Today we are at our high temp. 28* and it said 11* for a low tomorrow it's been raised up to 17* now. It's marvelous today It's clear out and the moon was fill when we were out working on this around six. When I got up this morning hubby was getting the roost, ramps and out side light cord set up and ready to use. We are changing up their routine a bit this week. We had agreed that I would do the roosts and ramps when I got up to open the chicken door to the run he did all the while I was asleep! But we are glad the chickens settled in and slept well. They all spent the first night inside.
I did the waters with warm water [it takes longer to freeze] the chicken's water did not freeze in the coop last night! The water out side was froze in their water bucket but the one inside was not! Yea for a plan working!
H. goes in to work today at ten. Lilac I hear you I do not like to baby sit @ dd's either they have wood heat and I do not know where any thing is can't use their can opener. I think the grand kids like coming here better any way!
TA-DA's -

** 76 financial transactions processed
** 2 days of MPB gross processed
** 4 tax checks written and put into the mail to be post marked today (last day before being late)
Sung to the tune of "I Feel So Pretty", I feel so guilty, oh, so guilty.
Nancy, I can handle 2 of the 4 at my house, but when I have to watch 4, it is far better to watch them out there. Yesterday they were all bouncing off the walls. When she came in, she asked me to take dgd16 the phone charger. I grabbed it and practically ran out of there. Seriously! Their home life has been in turmoil constantly since Christmas Day, when dgd16 went to the ER, the first time. With dgd16 in the hospital, dd2 feels terrible if she isn't with dgd16 or the 4 younger ones. So she is feeling neglectful constantly. That's what happens when you have 5 kids. I just hope if they find nothing that dgd16 can go home later today, but I am doubting it.
Have to take the car to get inspected later today. Also have recycling to drop off. Going to a New Years Eve Open House from 7-9pm. Glad we won't be out partying 'til midnight!
Kids left yesterday--just late enough to keep us from getting to church in the morning, but we did go last night. I did 4 loads of wash and a load of dishes after that. It's nice to get the house back in order and so peaceful with just the two of us here. However, today is kind of a letdown, thinking that I won't see kids again 'til summer.
The best gift DH and I gave ourselves this Christmas was the gift of wireless internet!! I can now converse with you all from any room in the house! May have to find a different use for our little "office" now.
Junk food prep has begun.....
** Rolo/pretzel candy made and cooling
** Buffalo Chicken cooking
** Seasoned Potato logs are baking (I'm also doing a test with carrots covered with the same seasoning)
** Chips & cheese dip ready to put together
** cake out and ready to eat
MPB is broke DH has a call in to the equipment suppliers and hopefully will be hearing back from them soon. In the meantime, he came home and got LO to go with him to get items on my long "buy this" list. After getting dizzy in store a couple days ago, I am VERY thankful that DH volunteered to do this.
Haven't heard back from dd2. I am assuming her dh came back home to watch the kids, while she went to be there for the procedure. She might be irritated that I didn't give in to my guilt. Who knows? If she is, she'll get over it.
Got ds's dinner for his overnight shift assembled (leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, carrots, stuffing and gravy.) He'll heat it up when he's on his break at 3 a.m. I was able to find enough 'disposable' containers that if I don't get them back, it is okay.
I'm also s2s and have taken stock of the fridge, washed off the top shelf (just noticed the door shelves and other shelves need doing too) and brought in the things from the garage cooler. So that cooler will be able to return to the pantry (where it serves as a surface to get things off the floor.) Still need to bring in the cooler with the frozen juice.)
I'm eating my way through the chips, etc. or tossing things (like cookies and cheap chocolates.)
I just discovered that we went through 3 pounds of cheese over the last 6 days. Wow! Dsil eats an awful lot of a very limited variety of food, cheese and bacon being staples. For example, he and I had a problem on the 29th because he doesn't like turkey so was making up homemade pasta sauce. That meant he had one frying pan on the go for the sausage, another for tomato sauce and would need my big pot for the pasta because he doesn't make 6 cups of pasta at a time, he makes 12 or more. In the meantime, I'm making a turkey dinner and needed my one big pot for the mashed potatoes. Plus I needed 5 burners over the course of prep and he needed 3 but I have a 4 burner stove.
Eventually, he cleaned out the frying pan with the sauce and moved the finished sauce to the 6 cup pot and boiled the pasta in the 9 cup frying pan. Sure enough, he ate all that over dinner on Saturday and the leftovers (thankfully, they travel with their own tupperware) for Sunday on the train. He actually ate his dinner on Saturday out of a vegetable serving dish rather than have it on a plate because it wouldn't hold enough (and he had two serving bowls' full.)
Dh has left for the movie. He took the camera to be returned with him (and my credit card) and hopefully, will get that done.
I'm ready for another nap but will try and do something else first. I don't really have a plan at this point.
