Harmony! Thank you for telling me about s2s!

I was freshening up this summer, would skip the a.m. shower, shower at night, or the next a.m. I got messed up! DH was NOT "impressed". I just don't know happened to me. I did have grandsons here 3 days a week for 2 weeks at a time this summer. On M-W-F we'd all get up at 7 a.m., DH and the grsons (2 of them) would shower before and/or after doing wood-getting in the woods. So it was quicker for me to freshen up, than take a shower when they were needing them, and I hate taking a shower when nobody's in the house. I'm afraid somebody's going to ring the door bell. So now that I know about s2s, it'll be "Shower-to-Shoes" for ME. It's a great help and I believe I'll re-write my 4 x 5 index cards this evening and put "s2s" on 1. I cannot believe something so simple as "s2s" can be so motivated! I've been really good about getting my showers in all fall, too, in case you were knowing and sometimes take two of them.

I was so sick this morning that I fell asleep in the recliner next to the TV in the great room and slept really hard for one hour! Wow! I must've needed it because I'm feeling a bit better, too. And my right arm's not sore like it had been for about 4 - 5 days, so now I'm looking forward to seeing the New Year in with a little baby crochet, etc...

OKay, It's great that LO is learning to do things even without cards!

Harmony, I didn't see your post about DH's eye surgery. I'll peek over at J & C to see if it's listed there.

Oh, Lilac, I'm so happy DGD15 is getting to come home. The poor thing has really been through it.

Oh, NO! (((((INE))))) Shingles is terrible! I got a shingles shot this fall. I'm SO SORRY for you INE! I'll be thinking of you. I know they're miserable to get.

Dee, I hope DD's eye surgery goes well for her.

Finally getting a chance to peek in and see how things are going here.

My day started with a long drive to a gathering at the grave of DNiece who died a year ago this morning. Standing out in the cold, snow, and wind when I already have a bad cold was probably not a really smart thing to do, but I wanted to be there. So I've been drinking hot beverages since noon trying to warm up ... but it's not working.

Also the multi-symptom tablets I took awhile ago seem to be helping a little bit with stuffiness, but have not touched the headache. At this rate I'll probably be in bed long before midnight. Such a party animal -- not!

Tomorrow will be the day to make a plan to get back on schedule with various projects. I don't really make New Year's resolutions, but I do need some kind of a jump-start after the long holiday break and catching this annoying virus.

I see that Harriet has been working out how to update our Focus threads. I hope I have enough brain power left tonight to make sense of the strategy there.

I unwrapped and lit a smelly candle the other day. I really need to bag it up and get it out - as a give away - as it really is headache, eye watering material for me even while its not burning. Also the smelly oil sticks from this years gift from same person. Not sure who wants, can cope with such items.
I don't want to give them to anyone with touchy hyper sensitive kids - or hyper/sensitive parents for that matter. Maybe its just charity shop material. And let people take their own responsibility about what they take home , and what the want to put up with too in terms of bad humour..

Long phone call with friend so made progress:

* Done! Strip and remake guest bed
* Done! strip and unmake basement bed (an inflatable bed)
* Vacuum and dust bedroom level
* vacuum under dining table
* electric broom lower main floor
* Done! tidy living room
* Done! (by dh) freeze meat
* swish guest bathrooms (did mine already)
* Update Quicken
* do payroll
* Done! Almost - on final spin do two loads of laundry

I'll try and vacuum the bedroom before I go to bed. Am in pretty bad shape now but still going because I'm enjoying the results.

It is almost New Year's in Rio so I'm going to pretend I'm there, do a countdown and then head to bed.

Edited to add: I'm off to bed now. The laundry is hung up to dry and the vacuuming and dusting is done upstairs. I've got a load of laundry in the washer on delay start and it will be ready for the dryer in the morning when I wake up. If I wait 15 minutes, I can celebrate New Years in Greenland, but I hope to be in bed by then!

So happy to share that I found a fourth egg in one of the nest boxes in side the coop and that the chickens like the way we I up the ladder better tonight none were in the loft area when I closed the door at dinner time they were all in.

We did not get the chicken door hinges on or the latch for the coop to hook it shut from the inside. But it's not as cold as I thought it would be so day two of "training them to use the coop is going well"! I turned the light on in the coop and not in the run.

We found a way to use the ramp from the run in the coop so that was great not having to build another one this week any way.

As one as having suffered through Shingles a couple of years ago -I thoroughly empathize, INE! "They" tell me I shouldn't have them again -sure hope they're right. NOT FUN! (I did have the Shingles shot a few years before and they tell me that when I got them anyway that "They aren't as bad as they could have been without the shot." REALLY???? That's not a sickness or pain I'd wish on anyone.

Okay, the surgery she's having is to remove a growth in 1 eye (it's growing) and then they'll graft something from the other eye.

a Pterygium is a benign growth in the eye that can obscure vision and may require surgery: symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, prevention.

This is copied from the internet. DS-R is also greatly troubled with the same thing. Last week one of her students asked her if she had 'pink eye'. DD called DS this afternoon and warned him about his and admonished him to always wear his sunglasses.

DH just took his shower and I'm now heading that way myself. Have a Blessed New Year and all of 2013 to each and every one of you!

Lynlee - UGH I hate smelly things! I can't even walk down a candle section without starting to sneeze. My DS's are not allowed to use cheap cologne especially in the house. I only use a light vanilla body spray.

Nancy - WooHoo a 4th egg! I wish I could have chickens, unfortunately per county law I am not zoned right, nor is my property big enough.

Dee - I went to Wiki and looked at the Pterygium and that is just weird!

The Stroganoff turned out actually really good. My DUncle had suggested I put Ketchup in it... I had never in my life heard of putting ketchup in stroganoff, but I tried it. Then when I was cutting up the left over Gyro meat DS13 asked me what to do with the leftover Tzatiki sauce, so I mixed it into the sour cream and it turned out really good. DS13 rates it a 4.5 stars. Watching some TV now and going to head to bed here pretty soon.

I have been hearing fireworks in the distance and our neighborhood all evening. DBlondie couldn't care less and has been napping since dinner. DMinnie is nervous though and whenever we hear a close boom jumps up and runs to me for petting!

Dh went to drugstore this morning to pick up rx refill. Ds#2 called while he was gone to see how we were. His family came home last night from visiting ddil's dmom & dad in north FL. He wanted to know if they could come down mid-morning tomorrow to have our Christmas with them and lunch afterward. Don't know how long they will stay afterwards. If they are here after dinner we will have spaghetti & meatballs - easy and quick!

When dh got home from W-greens I wrote out a list for tomorrow's lunch (buns, lunchmeat, baked beans, etc.) We haven't gone out on New Year's Eve for many years, just a quiet evening watching movies and snacking on chips, dips and popcorn.
