How are you feeling about your resolutions? They are moldable - tweak them any time.
An article I read the other day on "Top 10 New Year's Resolutions" places "Get Organized" in 10th place and "Learn Something New" at 8th. (Nice that "Help Others" was at 9th.) Since you can probably do a perfect job of guessing those that came in at higher spots ( they are completely predictable ) and there was no explanation of where the info was gleaned or whether it was even accurate, I won't list.
But I was thinking - aren't those 3 supposedly "less popular" ones, that took the last places, pretty important? They are not so much resolutions themselves, but the WAYS we make any plan successful. If you resolve something, you learn more about it. You research ways to reach your goals, read the new info that's out there, stay informed. If you resolve something, you get organized about it. You write down your plans, keep records, have a calendar to see that you are staying on track. If you resolve something, you hope it will help somebody else, too. We always consider how that better quality we hope to develop will be good for those around us. We are not islands. Thinking in terms of benefits to others, too - family, community, lives we touch - inspires us to stick with it.
So as you make your resolutions
Learn all you can about them.
Get organized to stay on track.
Think of the ways it can help somebody else.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Ooooh, I am anticipating a nice block of time today - dh is taking ds back to school so they will be gone several hours. DD is home and needs to do some laundry....whether she does it is another issue.
In reviewing the li&t I made earlier this week of stuff to finish this week before heading back to work, I still need to get to the alteration shop, the DT library to drop off books, and tame a very big paper tiger...
Thinking about today, I may or may not run those two errands, but I will focus on paper taming today. Probably need to get groceries (?) if dd and I are planning to cook dinner tonight, or maybe we'll do that tomorrow night?
Quiet morning in the village today!

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Hi, Twins' Mom! Yes, quiet this morning so everyone must have big projects going - I had no idea I would be starting the thread today, coming in at 9:00 a.m. Hope you get lots of Paper Taming done.
My first resolutions were about health and fitness, so I'm as predictable as anyone. I tried not to make them too vague, but that's hard with health/fitness since just "improvement" has so much value!
Lynlee already has some reading lined up for us in H and F thread, and Cowinkie shared what she's read. I think that's an area that is downright fascinating, so I don't have any problem "learning something new" about it. OKay is sharing new record-keeping. I love to record my H and F successes, so "getting organized" about it will be fun. I know if I will take care of my health, my family will benefit, even if they don't catch on exactly. Also, if I'm keeping up with healthy habits, I will feel I can nag more about theirs
so there's a benefit for them!
My second resolution(s) would come under the "Getting Organized" heading, so there I am with the folks in 10th place, too. These are not vague at all, but have to do with the cardfile, decluttering/cleaning schedule, and calendaring better. Reading here is, as always, my best "learning something new" resource. Harmony, Emptynester and OKay are sharing in Organization Tools forum - gotta read those. Also I branch out reading through the "links" we have here, to places like CEO's household notebook/holiday, the pocketmod sites, cardfile links. Can't deny watching a few "Hoarders" episodes will motivate, too.
Getting more organized benefits my family so much - they have NO idea
. But also it frees up time so I can "spread out" to my community a little - attend more church functions, visit and check on extended family/friend's well-being, catch up on correspondence, take an interest in dd's school's needs.
Today I printed up my usual Saturday "job jar" for HRH and dd.
They just love that.
Big part for HRH is ... create some menus! I hope he comes up with some good ideas. Still need to tackle some more Desk Day from yesterday for our house and make sure my ddad's Desk Day doesn't have any gaps.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
I did not "do resolutions" this year first time in a long time; loose wt.
be more organized etc. I adapted something my cousin shared on fb instead of resolving to change yourself resolving to be yourself.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Harriet - Good Morning, what a great way to start off the morning. I need to look back and see what my resolutions were.
Twins - Good luck with the Paper Tiger.
Nancy & Blessed - Those sound like some good resolutions or "non-resolutions"
Wow, it is a quiet morning I thought I was being lazy and would come here to see at least 2 pages of posts. I still need to do my SDR, at this point all I have done is drink coffee, I'm still in my bathrobe.
I think today will be primarily a cooking day. DP/BFF & DH will be coming for Dinner, their DstepS is here after spending last night. I also need to do laundry today.
First up is to finish my SDR! My goal is to have it done by 12:30.
Start the Day Routine (SDR)
d2s
coffee
meds & vitamins
prayer & meditation
something small to eat
swish & swipe BathR
ToDo/TaDa's
SDR
Collect Laundry
Feed Bert & Ernie w() d() f() p/a()
Figure out what recipes I am making for Feeding Willy
Do prep work
put bags together and feed Willy
Make cabbage rolls for dinner
Clean Kitchen as I go
Tidy LR
Dinner
BBS

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Good morning! I've been up for 2hours and haven't done much yet, but I have worked with quicken. That is one of my goals this years - to keep track of our finances more carefully. Dh finally agreed that Quicken was helpful. He told me not to bother with it for a year or 2 b/c everything is online, but we have had trouble tracking some expenses, and he now agrees that it would be helpful -- thus, I will be tracking accounts this year. It was not my idea to stop tracking.
Now, we disagree on how to do it; he thinks I should just download statements once a month; his main goal for now is to track. I think I should fill in transactions as we go so we know how much we have at any one point in time. I suppose we can just track for a few months to get a general idea and then I can fill in as we go. . . .Anyhow, I have revamped the categories to better fit our family's needs.
When does GA Tech start up again, Twins?
I'm not sure what I'm doing today. There are still boxes and envelopes of photos all over our living room and piles of papers for me to go through piled on our desk.
I got an email last night from the teaching team chair asking if I could start off the semester doing the first 2 teachings at the church moms group. Um, no, I can't pull something decent together in 5 days. Apparently, the teacher who volunteered to take these first 2 teachings is feeling some pressure or difficulty or something. Apparently, there was a conversation about asking me to do this -- before Cmas. But that conversation never actually extended to me. Before Cmas, I may have said "yes." Now, it is just too tight and I have other things in my schedule besides. . . . I'm learning to say "no" and am resisting the temptation to rush in and save others. This is another "resolution" I have for the year -- to grow in this area.
OK, dh has made waffles. I'll have some tea and a banana. BBl.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Helia - Saying No is a great resolution!
I went back to find my resolutions;
1) Clean up my mouth - working on it although I find that it gets really bad when driving in traffic.
2) Use the stairs at work - Doing so-so on this one... need to keep working on it!
3) Eat better - I am actually doing pretty good on this one, I am packing my lunch which usually consists vegie/whole wheat crackers, cheese, summer sausage, and baby carrots. I am also taking at least 1 bottle of water with me (which may not be what I am supposed to be drinking but it is better than I was doing) and I am taking a huge handful of vitamins and minerals every morning.
Need to get moving!!!

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
I've been working on church 'stuff'. Still waiting for a few more reports to come in. I worked a lot yesterday and have everything done that I have. The final reports will take a lot more time as most are financial. The treasurer has about 5 pages of figures so it takes me a while to get all those in the right slots. I can't just copy his as he has all the info, many of which I don't use. But for him to send it any other way is nigh on to impossible.
DH and DD have gone to Parrish to play euchre with several friends. They'll be gone all day (I was supposed to go, but am here waiting and working). I did get the council minutes done in the last hour & a half, so haven't been sitting idle. I had figured I wouldn't get those done until late next week, which would put a little pressure on the church secretary. As it is, once she gets all my reports, she has to proof, print and put it together, ready to be handed out next Sunday ( a week before the actual meeting). It's supposed to be Jan. 27th but she goofed when she published the date (as Jan. 20th). They've decided to leave it that way which pushed me, but I'm doing okay and it will be off my plate sooner than usual I guess.
Sunny day here.
Resolutions? I guess I never even thought about making any this year -guess my one would be to have an "Anti Procrastination timeslot" each day. That would solve a lot of woes and keep me organized as well. See how I do with that.............

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Not sure how the resolutions are doing. It is an ongoing struggle.
Since I have no choice but to recover from Hep (it will happen if I do anything or not) it doesn't make a good resolution but learning how to live with it is still a challenge, especially at this time of year when everyone is working out or decluttering or learning something new and I still become useless every day in the afternoon. The only choice I have in the matter is do I become useless and have to nap and then be a bit productive after the nap? Or do I choose to not nap but end up being a slug until bedtime, barely managing to eat dinner and wash up (but am useless as far as helping to cook a meal.)
I am on the treadmill today. Got out of bed after 12 hours in bed (not all of that was sleeping but almost 10 hours was) but got on the treadmill since yesterday's promise to myself to walk in the afternoon fell victim to not having a nap (didn't nap because I was busy with a project then was too much of a slug to walk but it was too close to dinner and I was too close to finishing the task I had started to take a break from it to nap.)
I did get all of Christmas cleaned up except for the Christmas cards. I have to go through them and update my list for addresses and if people wrote back. And I also have to read the newsletters.
I need to get over to the church and pick up the Sunday School curriculum and prep a class. And I need to decide what to do about devotions. Already this year, the reading plan I have has hit something that was covered last month. And in just 4 days I've been all over the Pentateuch but the jumping around is confusing me since I'm not getting the whole story. So I'm going to abandon the Bible Society's plan (but still finish last year's since I'm still behind on that) and try simply reading the Bible through according to Bible Gateway's app. In addition to that, on my own I'll do devotions on the four readings in the lectionary each week since I found that part of the Bible Society's plan useful. I have a sermon prep book that has the readings on one page so doing that is almost effortless.
