Re: Saturday Resolution Check
I am newly graduated from Semi-automatic safety and training course. This is step one in obtaining license to carry a gun. There were 3 women in today's class of about 40 students. One lady had to be over 80 years old and had such a wonderful attitude. She was such an inspiration to me.....I want to be like her when i grow older. Now that I passed the written test and successfully completed 50 rounds at the firing range, I can move on to the next step of applying for a license. This step takes 3-5 months. In the meantime i need to select a gun .....I'm going for looks as well as size & performance. I want a purple gun.

Happy for you that your daughters get home today, blessed.
Good job lucylee and OKay on plans for reading, in fact I'm so happy for all who plan meaningful reading this year.
OKay, I love to find women who make me say, "I want to be like her when I grow up."
Dove, I'm determined to stick with Focus cleaning this year too, but tweaking when it's best for me. For instance this week is "Entry" for me only in that I'm undecorating at our entry and the rest of the work is in the master closet where all the undecorating is headed!
So much work on Desk Day today as I filed 2012 and readied 2013 record keeping/spaces for both our household and my ddad, also readied for incoming mail of tax-related documents. Paperwork just grows, doesn't it? I tried NOT to sidetrack into the declutter needed around the desk, just the Desk Day work and wait for "Office" week for the rest.
So much work on the master closet, report in Focus.
Space freed, report in Decluttered Home.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
* s2s, including make-up
* walked away the pounds 15 minutes and did my little 5 minute wake-up routine
* stripped the bed, sheets waiting to be put back on
* 3rd load of clothes hanging to dry
* caught up w/today's Daily Bible Reading
* ate breakfast
* cleaned/aired out vaporizer
* watched Bonanza & Big Valley while doing most of the other stuff
* snacked a little bit
* vacuumed
Feeling like I really need a nap... and also need to iron & vacuum while dh is in shower.
I will try for 15 minutes. Surely I can manage that.
Can't help getting overwhelmed... looking at calendar... thinking, "IF we have to go during THIS week, Dh is going to be irritable b/c he'll miss ____... and if we have to go THAT week, he'll have to miss _____... and THIS week is going to be a horrible time for me to be out of school... and THAT week will be ____ whatever..." AAUGUGUGHHH!!!
But I know... I know... I know... we'll just do what we have to do and make the best of it.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Hello, villagers ~
The day started well, my sinuses felt a bit better and I was able to use quiet time to catch up on some reading. Then I thought I would try to see if s2s would keep me going rather than taking a nap.
Well
I couldn't get the cold water to shut off, the water was pouring out. I had to rush upstairs to get DH for help. He couldn't get it to stop either, and there isn't a local shutoff valve for the shower, so he had to turn off the water for the whole house.
He's been struggling with the shower faucets for months, trying to find the right replacement parts to stop them leaking. The faucets are probably 40 years old, and I'd love to replace the whole setup but that will mean tearing out the shower stall and replacing that whole thing. Once that much is started, we might as well remodel the whole room. (Oh the joys of living in a 100-year-old house where nothing can be done the easy way!
)
Today DH decided we should try a store that is a longer drive away, but they are known for having unusual stuff. Result, the woman there supposedly knows exactly the brand we need, but they didn't have it in stock. She promised to make some calls Monday morning and hopefully can find one so DH can pick it up on his way home from work.
As long as we were out of the house, we stopped for a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch and then at WM for a few groceries. Finally home again, DH did as much as he could with the old faucet part and turned the water back on. The faucet is leaking badly and we'll just have to deal with it for a couple days and hope to get the proper part Monday afternoon.
In the meantime, I'll be dealing with 1 or 2 of my own "make it work" projects.
Dove ~ I like your treasure hunt idea!

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
BookSaver -- I can relate. My shower/tub faucet has a very steady drip. DH won't get it fixed b/c it's going to involve cutting through the sheetrock on the opposite side of the wall.
Poor design feature. So... y'all are going to laugh, but at this point, I have a leg of pantyhose fixed so the drip runs down it, rather than making that plop plop plop sound. I figure when the water bill gets so high dh can't stand it anymore, we'll start redoing our bathroom. Same room where the sheetrock will be cut is the one where the floor is tearing up b/c of leak around dh's shower!
It is ridiculous. And it is part of the reason I almost had a panic attack when I thought daunt might be babysitting dgs here at our house! EEEEK! I don't want ANYONE seeing what a shape we've let this get in!
I am here to testify that 15 minutes really IS magic!
I started out for 15 minutes, and 35 minutes later, all the "living/public" area is done. Now I only need to do our bedroom & bath, and all the house that we really use will be DONE.
So much better. My nerves are still on edge in a big way... but like I said, at least the day has not been a big waste with me wallowing in a pity party.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Big hugs for (Lucylee) and for (Dee). Congrats OKay for passing the first part of test. Do they even make guns in purple?
Kathryn, I think your naps are helping you recover. I wouldn't stop them. Your body is telling you what you need. I am simply amazed that I don't need those naps I was taking. When I got better I just quit craving my pillow!
I always make resolutions. This year I haven't had time to sit down and write them down, but they've been in my brain since way before the end of the year. I want to change and reorganize several things around here. Of course I want to get my physical strength back and hopefully lose weight. I want to finish my year-through-the-Bible (which I started many years ago
). I want to get the outside done more, work with the plants, etc. And I have a sewing project or two I'd like to do. Big hopes for me with this schedule of mine, I'd say.
Today I spent 5 hours at church working that funeral luncheon. We expected 40 tops, and had probably 80. And some groups came from other areas and were traveling back and this was to be their meal. So, big eaters. Someone ran out and got more coleslaw, more potato salad, and we emptied little bags of potato chips into a big bowl...and it was all eaten and they took home the last 4 pieces of cake left. I think they all got enough to eat, but I got the impression if we'd had twice as much they'd have eaten until all that was gone too!
Stopped at post office to use automatic machine to weigh a heavy statement; paid for it, and it printed out a great big label I couldn't use cause it was too big for the envelope...I'll never use that thing again.
I feel like I've accomplished a little here today. Took the tree and all the decorations down and all are packed back away in the closet. I have one bag to go yet when Christmas afghan dries completely and hand towel I washed. Big progress!
I'm going to go work a little on the kitchen which is yet again a mess.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
DP/BFF and DFamily just left, we had a wonderful dinner. The Cabbage Rolls were a hit, which was great since I had never made them before.
For desert we had sliced (thin) lemon pound cake with sliced strawberries and homemade Whipped Cream. I would have made a Trifle but I didn't think about it until less then an hour before dinner and had to send the DS's to the store for the ingredients. I did make a small trifle for lunch later this week.
The DS's are now cleaning up the kitchen.
The best thing of all was when DP/BFF came in she said "Wow, you are really getting this house cleaned up."
That just made me feel so great. It is all thanks to ya'll here, thank you so much for your support!

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
Fairly productive day.
I used the electric broom on the upstairs, so not vacuumed but not undone either.
I got two loads of laundry done.
I got the bathrooms cleaned.
I did the banking and groceries.
I feel like I'm forgetting something, but since I didn't get down for breakfast until 12:30, I'm guessing that might be all I did.
I'm hungry now and still have WW points left so may eat something else. I did skip lunch - I had breakfast, a snack, an apple and peanut butter and then a salad with chicken from Subway at supper time. I just had half a grapefruit but am still hungry so maybe some more milk and some almonds. That will use up the last of my points for the day.
I have the Sunday School curriculum and have some of the lesson planned out. I'll do the rest after my snack and then head to bed.

Re: Saturday Resolution Check
a resolution - usually I give myself a year to try and get something going a little better.
This year its back to household checklist - simlified I hope. And hope to end the year doing more , and more regularly than previously. Currently I am trying to make even "token efforts" as they seem to begat actual progress and things actually done.
So hoping to tend those things on my weekly check list at least monthly. That would be a real win.

Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.
