Hello, villagers ~
Sewing group meeting last night was fun, and a more interesting topic than I expected. The instructor showed only 1 garment that she'd embroidered on her machine. The rest of her items were very pretty 3D holiday decorations and fun toys for her grandchildren.

One of the toys could easily be done on a regular sewing machine, or even by hand. It's a bag with the words "snowball fight" embroidered on it. Inside are several balls made from white fleece, stuffed with something really lightweight. (Nylon net balls maybe? they felt lighter than poly stuffing. Maybe it's just fleece scraps but not packed tight.) Each of the balls has a funny goofy face embroidered on it. I'm sure the Nerf company probably sells something similar, but hers are really cute and I think she said it's one of the free patterns she found online.

CI: Today so far I have not done any volunteer work, although the paperwork is still there looming darkly. Instead I've concentrated on doing things for DH and myself.

x put away my books on the appropriate shelves in the appropriate rooms; the books in this house are a disorganized mess. I need to go through them sometime.
x cleared side table and dusted it and coffee table; I left papers on the behind-the-sofa table b/c I think they're dh's, and he won't want me to touch them.
x took 2 phone messages re: church business for dh
x rested for 20 minutes - fell asleep
x greeted dgirls when they came home
x went for a JOG!! There were a lot of people out jogging or walking on the park path. It was pretty busy. I started out against the wind so I had it on my back on the 2nd half of the run.
x got potatoes in the oven to go with leftovers tonight
x switched laundry; the mattress pads are now in the dryer

Dd17 took dd14 to her practice for me, which was helpful of her.

I'm eating some yogurt now.

Next, I'll vacuum. That will make dh happy when he comes home.

Hello everyone! I am still quite glum about my ceiling situation, but did I call insurance company today? No. Need to do it tomorrow. I did remember to bring the lunch I packed and forgot yesterday, but I am hungry again. The maids came as I was leaving the house this morning. Someone rang the bell before they got there, but I thought it was them and didn't answer (they have a key). When I realized that no one was coming in I was too late to find out who it was. Hope it wasn't important. I have typed minutes for the animal org board meeting tonight. I need to to laundry, but won't be able to because of the meeting. Also can't tomorrow, due to art class. I am going to try small loads and drying rack, so as not to overuse my dying dryer. I have something to do at payroll, but don't know how to do it yet. Guess I had better get on it. Not sure what I am eating tonight, it will be late due to the meeting. My head hurts and I have a leak in my ceiling, not a good day.

I am home after a long trip. Finally got away about 11:30 - I dropped Moe off for the bath then had to come back by home for my directions, my watch, and some items I was taking for sister.

She is about the same. I signed in to their log at 1:50, and was in my car ready to head out at 2:15. She talked a little, then kept insisting that she wanted to go lie down, then finally said she had to lie down, and said goodbye. Each visit leaves me really sad; what a miserable life she seemed to draw, whether genetic or otherwise. (I have two maternal aunts that had similar diagnosis, and my dmom was the one to see that they got appropriate care - one committed suicide when I was very, very young.)

DH suggested going out to eat tonight, but after all the driving (and rain off and on) I'd prefer to stay in....tried to call him but no answer so at this point I may make myself something from the freezer.

Update, he called back before I got this posted - I'm going to meet him at chinese place that is 2 minutes away....

I accomplished nothing I can cross off a list today. Sigh...

I did get my friend to the hospital on time to have the stent removed. The waiting room was crowded so I asked when to be back and went off for a while to sit elsewhere. Came back on time, played Sudoku. I'm bad at that so it took a while, then I read, then I looked at the clock and she was 20 minutes late. I heard my name called and she was so disappointed she was ready to cry. They couldn't get the stent out. Her body has formed another stone in the 3 weeks and it is on the stent so it won't come out. She'll need an operation to remove it so it will be another 2 - 3 weeks to get that (on priority list.)

At least the doctor was very nice and went over the whole problem with us.

Anyway, I took her back to her village and we stopped at the store her kids own and her ddil took her the rest of the way home and I picked up a prescription for her (she also has an infection.)

We took 2 hours longer than intended so I was just getting home at 2 and dh needed to leave by 2:25 with the car. I phoned ahead and he made me two slices of bacon and I cooked up and ate an omelet in the 20 minutes and then we flew out the door and drove back into the city.

The second errand was to drop off his Mac to get a new motherboard. He paid to joint the 'corporate joint venture club' which means he'll get the computer back in 24 hours instead of 5 days. He's going into town for a movie with ds tomorrow so will hang around in town and pick it up when it is done.

We ran another 2 short errands, then had a very early dinner out, picked up the mail and visited at the store for a while and then came home. Dh is now out again visiting with his friend. I'm seriously considering going to bed. I'm tired and starting to munch, so sleeping is probably a good idea.

Harriet: Duh, we own a lavalier mic for dh's training. I should be able to plug that into their system, no problem. It isn't as good as hers because it is lapel (so if I turn my head, the voice is lost a bit) but it is still better than being tied in one spot.

hello dear ladies,

Just checking. Had a really bad night last night, coughing, coughing, sitting up on the side of the bed to be able to breathe.

DH told me to get ready to go to the doctor, and we went over there. It was quite busy there. One side is appointments and the other side is walk-ins and urgent care. The urgent side was packed and I waited two hours. by that time they were taking the urgent side people over to the appointment side because there was so many of us.

Don't have the flu, just something that is like the flu. got a shot and some prescriptions. The breathing is easier. Said there was 60 people there that test positive for flu.'

So am resting a lot, spending time napping more. Did not go into work. thinking I might not go in tomorrow either.

Will be glad when I'm over this.

I have some WONDERFUL news to share!! After weeks of being in bed, hours of being in labor...... DNiece just had a healthy baby boy!!! They named him after my paternal Grandpa. There is something about a newborn that makes everything in the world seem just a little brighter and full of hope.

Kathryn I really hate what has happened to your friend. I am sure that you were a lot of comfort to her.

Twins you are doing a great job as an advocate for your dsis. I am so sorry for the heartbreak you are experiencing as you deal with everything involved.

Elizabeth so sorry about the ceiling and the aggravation involved in getting it fixed.

When I went to get my hair done, I told her that I wanted to grow it out. She just trimmed the very tips of all layers. She said that will help it continue to grow fast. I usually go every 4 weeks but she talked me into waiting 6. She said if it started driving me crazy to call and see about coming in sooner. It looked really nice after she styled it. I can never get it to look like that.

After my appt. I went to dd2 shop. I was surprised at how many chamber members were there. Her dh was there and she had called and got dgd16 out of school for it. She had 2 different flavors of cupcakes, 4 varieties of cookies and a cheese, meat and cracker tray. Then they could get fountain drinks if they wanted. Most of those chamber members, especially the women, were so snooty. Dd2 had bought a new outfit and matching necklace and earrings. She looked really sharp. She buys new clothes for any event and has for years. Dgd16 looks so tiny now and she was small to begin with. I really enjoyed the time her and I had to visit together. Usually her mom, the little girls or her boyfriend are around, so this was nice.

Dhs motorcycle buddy went ahead and went to Tulsa to the Chili Bowl car races. Dh only mentioned it the one time. I asked him why he didn't go and he said he didn't want to use 3 days vacation and $500.00+ to go. This is the same guy whose marriage is falling apart. Anyway he texted dh and told him that Tony Stewart had just walked by him.

I better get upstairs so I can watch Nashville.

Ack ~ I just tried to help dgson with his 4th grade math; it was clear as mud! H. said I was not to help him with that subject any more! Well no one else was helping him and I was the only one available LOL! I'm amazed that I could get the answer but did it the long way!

I asked h. if I turn on the light for the chickens at 5:45 and the need 12 hrs. of day light when do I turn it off ~ he says well that's 10 hrs. of darkness; 24 hrs. in a day 7:45 I say that's not part of the equation; I say 12 hrs. is 5:45 plus two more hrs. that's 7:45. Same right answer but two ways to get to it! That's another of example of home work discussions here! We discussed it during dinner and after and totally missed the news!

I remember when dson said he learned in 2nd grade to not ask me for help in math all the ones I helped him with he got wrong!

Bake cookies is on for tomorrow is what dgd wants to do.

Store run done priced pie to see if it was any better nope worse nearly $12 for a pie so if any of you are having a bake sale be sure and charge enough for the pies!

I did get to some knitting and watching info. on the old west on the history ch. fascinating stuff about the real store of lonesome dove.

I've been doing laundry today. Picked up my Rx yesterday glad to have some things done this week. Weather is good here snow is gone.

Congratulations on the new baby in the family, OKay. I'm glad he was healthy after all that trouble. Your date sounded like fun, though I know how tough it can be to take time for yourselves. Your whole church needs to come lay hands on your mpb so it will quit breaking.

DH probably does need a hip replacement. He wants to wait as long as possible. He fears he won't be able to work like he does once he gets one. My DD's MiL has had one for 8 years but she says she's not supposed to lift 14 pounds. And up and down ladders..well, he's hanging on until he just must do this. Plus our medical dollars will be better later.

(Twins) sorry about your DSister. Know how hard it must be to see this especially with your family history.

Sadie, take care of yourself! There is a lot of sickness everywhere; it even made the national news tonight. They say the numbers of flu is high-normal this year and a couple strains aren't in the vaccine.

I stopped at bank this afternoon, visited my 2 ladies. That took a while, one wanted to chat for a while. Dollar store is out of calendars, I might try another dollar store. I got some other things there.

Didn't get all my errands done on the way home, but I will catch up tomorrow.
