Re: WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY
Lilac, tell your dd they all probably have holes in their underwear, don't know what to do about the engine light on in the car, and their junk drawers are all jammed so they won't open.
I'm glad she was able to make a good impression, though. A little confused - I thought an open house would be for the chamber to help her host and welcome the community. Didn't know it was to entertain the chamber?
Nancy, we got on the sillier subject of time travel, believe it or not, because of the movie with Bruce Willis which we never even saw, and argued that this evening, lol!!! HRH says if Bruce Willis is a hit man who goes back in time and kills himself, the events of his other hits still exist. I say if he goes back and kills himself, then he was never there to pull the trigger and those people lived. We finally agreed it depends on the script writers!
Dd said if she invents time travel, she will come back and tell us. HRH told her to come back in 5 seconds, then looked at his watch. lol - (he's certainly not the first with that joke)
Oh, Kathryn, I'm so sorry about your friend's situation but thank goodness they know now instead of later. I just feel for her. Disappointing.
Seeing that I jogged Kathryn's memory about a solution - hope it works !
Twins' Mom, I was hoping you would see a change. I still believe that having someone watch over nutrition is going to be a help.
HRH took his friend out to supper, yay. Dd and I stayed home and did homework, guitar practice and I even read some. They stopped by an ice cream joint and brought home several pints, which delighted my ddad.
Congratulations to the OKay family. OKay, I don't know much about gun shops, so don't know advice to give - my usual manner has been inheriting. Oh, well, come to think of it, our next generation here waits until the fairgrounds has a show - that seems to be helpful. Also a great way to buy semi-precious stones, which have their own show.
Good job to Sadie's dh knowing when to get to a dr.
I will, lucylee.

If you don't believe in miracles, you're not being realistic.

Re: WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY
That isn't just to Harriet, of course -- I just saw she was in this thread when I posted and I wanted quick feedback.
I'm having a panic attack meltdown, and you are all welcome to observe and comment...
I'm sorry. I know I should be sooo over this by now... and I know it's all in my head, but my head is real & my stomach is real, and the shakiness is real, and the clammy skin is real... and I just have a hard time dealing with this whenever I am faced w/certain situations.

Tomorrow is another day.

Re: WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY
Harriet, dd2 had on open house in Oct. after opening on Sept 29. Then the first Sunday in Nov. was a downtown celebration of the beginning of Christmas shopping, so she had to have refreshments again for that. Now this. The Chamber did send her a beautiful flower arrangement. Tonight I was watching TV and they had an ad about our downtown shopping and dd2s store was shown. I can't wait to ask if she paid for that or if the Downtown Vision did. She has a year contract with the radio station. My dh was so excited the first time he heard an ad. There have been 2 articles in the paper and she has ran ads, but she doesn't feel like the ads from the paper have brought many in.
At the retirement party Saturday night I got several positive feedbacks to pass on to her. Then today the gal that does my hair told me that she has heard a lot of talk about the business and it is always positive. I am so happy for dd2, because she has put a lot of time, money and work into the business.
We are suppose to get freezing rain overnight. We need rain but not the freezing kind.
Harriet, I was glad to see that your ddad enjoyed ice cream tonight. That was a nice treat after him having to deal with company.
I was tired and was headed to bed at 10 but my bs was too low to trust that it wouldn't get TOO low overnight. So I had a snack and am giving it time to go up some.

lucylee, I am so glad that you are able to come here and talk about all that is going on. Don't beat yourself up over your reactions. Afterall, your ddad has never been in this situation before. So no wonder you are upset. (((dlucylee)))

Re: WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY
Thank you, Lilac... and I guess it's normal to focus on some "silly" thing -- to avoid thinking about the worse thing.
Just spent a long time on phone w/ddil talking about the whole situation, too... not my silly phobias, but the reality of ddad's condition and all the uncertainty that is going to accompany our lives for at least the next six months.
DH & I neither one deal well w/uncertainty, either. I mean, I guess no one does -- but we really like to plan things in advance -- or at least, dh does, and he has "conditioned" me to expect life to work that way. We make hotel reservations and buy tickets for baseball games at least six months in advance. Football games, more than that. Most all of our summer travel is booked by the end of January every year. DH is so orderly and precise w/all his plans. He should have been in the army.
Then something like this comes along, and you just can't schedule it. Cancer does not follow anyone's monthly calendar, I guess. You can't put it on your daily routine, or your monthly focus. It just arrives and you have to start waiting for its schedule, it doesn't follow yours... and it doesn't give a lot of prep time, either.
