Keeping on....
Logging food, water, sleep and exercise.

Yesterday was an emotional day for me as 3 very dear friend & immediate family member received unhappy cancer reports. I had a hard time settling down to sleep and I kept munching on food while I was waiting for my mind to slow down last night. I was able to keep the food I munched on semi-healthy but ended up over eating about 600 calories during this time.

Today my weight is up .6lb and I'm sure it is all the sodium. I was surprised it wasn't up more.

BUMP.....bump....bump..... i'm hitting bump after bump on my journey to being a healthy weight. However, i'm not going to stop or detour. I am continuing to log and monitor what I eat and i will keep trying.

A couple days ago I was able to wrangle an invite to http://www.neufit.com/ It is free "get fit" website and looks promising. I haven't spent very much time there, but have looked around a bit and intent to look more when I have some down time. If anyone is interested in an invite let me know (I have 5).

Keeping On......logging food, water, sleep & exercise.

I AM FRUSTRATED!!
**Deeep Breathe**
Another **DEEEEP BREATHE****

i am gaining weight instead of losing it. Argggghhhh!

Yesterday i had 1225 calories.....this morning the scales say I gained a whole pound
the day before I ate 1472 calories and gained .6 lb

I shouldn't be gaining almost 2 lbs when my calories are kept below 1500! Arrrggghhh! The thing that I suspect is getting me is the sodium. Both day I ate out and I'm sure the sodium was over the top.....WAIT...i forgot that I can look that up.

Yup.
Yesterday I had 4142 sodium
The day before I had 5635 sodium
My goal is to stay under 2500 sodium and obviously I am way overboard.

The good news is as soon as this sodium works it way out of my body, the weight should disappear. I am drinking 9 cups of water daily so hopefully it will be flushed out quickly.

Okay This is why most programs discourage daily weighing because your body does weird stuff like this, even if you are 'good'. My girlfriend had hormonal issues and could wear nothing with a non-elastic waist band because her size would change dramatically from morning to night. Her dh didn't believe her so weighed her one day, through the day. She gained 5 pounds from morning to late afternoon. Next morning, she was back at the lower weight (and size) but knew her body would swell through the day.

Muscle repair is good for several pounds as they pull in water in order to repair themselves. Sodium is also good for weight gain but this past week pizza had no effect on the scale for me.

I used the scale every few days to keep an eye on things and if something is out of whack, ask myself why. If my period is coming, I know I'll get a 3 pound gain so I either have to lose 3 lbs immediately after my final weigh-in before the period weight gain starts (not bloody likely) or see the weight gain, eliminate muscle repair and sodium and figure my period might be arriving in a few days. Given that I only lose 3 lbs a month at best, to watch 3 week's progress disappear overnight is partly why I've had trouble staying on program - no matter how good I am, any progress will be wiped out, remain gone for at least 1 week (and if my period doesn't show up when it should, it could be 3 or more weeks) and then when my period goes, see a weight loss that is related to absolutely nothing I've done for myself.

I just want to draw and quarter anyone who says weight gain is simply number of calories eaten vs number burned. There is some of that but the source of those calories, the weather, the time of month, the source of your exercise and probably the phase of the moon also play a role.

My mood is BLACK.

I have absolutely no energy so am getting nothing done. As deadlines race towards me, I get more and more upset and teary and more and more things seem to not work.

My computers needed updating, that took ages because my computer and our internet are running so slow. While I was in bed on Wednesday evening, our ISP went down for 3 hours and was up and down all day yesterday. It would take 20 - 30 seconds for google calendar to update. Sirius sent me a cut off notice for the car radio subscription and it took 5 minutes each page to load for my credit card company (once I got into my account which took 20 minutes) and then the charge hadn't posted so it was 15 minutes on hold with Sirius only to find out that everything is fine. There went 1 hour of my day.

I went shut off my computer after dinner because the internet was still taking 20 seconds or more to load a page and went to watch the Big Bang Theory only to learn that it hadn't loaded.

Went to go to bed at 9 (again, second day in a row) only to discover my mp3 player had turned itself on in the drawer (press any key on it and it starts and I was set to radio so it started playing the radio all day long) and was dead. It will on charge connected to a turned on computer so changing batteries or plugging in to the wall won't work so I didn't have that.

I used my smart phone (plugged in) and listened to radio all night long. I would have loved to turn it off but each time I did, dh's snoring irritated me too much so I had to turn it back on. So I only dozed through the night, I never had a solid sleep.

I've been awake since 4:30.

So, having gone to bed 11.5 hours ago, I'm now in an even fouler mood than I was when I decided a good night's sleep might help change my mood.

That last post took 90 seconds to actually post. Obviously there's a problem, but dh can stream video fine. It is happening for me on two computers, each with a different operating system, each with two browsers, each just rebooted.

Okay ... I had a off day....not using the word bad.. Yesterday as well . Ate crackers which set me off on a binge. I knew better and did it anyway. Mine was set off by frustration of a situation I could of handed better. However I took time to review my react to the situation, both what happened and what lead to my binge. I did not weigh today. I know the scale will be up...but I choose to start a new day.

Reminding myself what I taught my kids... New habits don't happen over night. You can't learn to ride a bike or skate board the first time you try. Fear is what holds us back.

You're on the right track. You just fell off. Grab my hand together the strength of all of us here can help us all.

I heard about a vibrating fork that's being sold starting this spring... Will tell y'allabout it later. I have to go for right now....

Up and Down....back and forth.....Keeping on.

My weight is back to where it was before I OD'd with sodium a couple of days in a row. I've lost 6.6 lbs since I started this weight loss effort.

Cowinkle - I googled the HAPIfork and found it interesting. I don't think I have ever counted how many seconds between bites of food, but it looks like it is a very important habit to have.

Kathryn - You are wise to recognize your mood and the possible reasons behind it. Hang in there!

Nancy - you are so good at being consistent with exercise everyday. YGG!

My mind knows what the experts say about weighing everyday, but there is a part of me that disagrees. What if I only weighed once a week and that day fell on the day that sodium spiked my weight? I wouldn't be getting a true picture. I do know it is frustrating to see the weight go up/down daily but it does keep me aware. it is punishment for the times I overeat. It is reward for the days that I eat within the parameters.
